Although iceberg lettuce is the most popular lettuce sold, its nutritional value pales in comparison to that of dark leaf lettuces, such as romaine. Per serving, romaine lettuce has 78 times as much vitamin A, 6 times as much vitamin C, 2 times as much fiber, 2 times as much calcium and almost 3 times as much iron as iceberg lettuce.


i love dark lettuce because its not as crunchy as the other kinds. whenever i get a caeser salad i usually pick out all the hearts because i hate the texture. my big problem with salad is drenching it in dressing b/c lettuce isnt the most robust food in the world. i like oil and vinegar dressing or italian b/c they are lower cal than creamy dressings. :D April


I prefer the dark lettuce also!
