Hi guys and gals, I'm Jane and I'm at the highest weight I've been in my life (235) because I've really been slacking at eating right/exercising. After not weighing myself for months, I was shocked when the nurse said I weighed that much. So now I bought a scale, and my fridge is full of veggies and whole grains. Supposedly, I'm going to start running with my boyfriend (he does it every night) but I might just get depressed since he can do about 3 miles and I can run about 3 blocks. :( I know exercising really works for me, but I have a really hard time sticking to it. I'm hoping talking to people here will help me keep up a healthy lifestyle so I don't have to pay for a Weight Watchers support group (I just graduated from college, and I'm very broke!). Nice to meet ya, Jane

hello jane and welcome! good job on changing the composition of your frig. i've found that if there are no goodies in the house i can't get to them! maybe start with walking. if you have a lot of weight to lose and you haven't really exercised in a while, you don't want to run the risk of hurting yourself and putting yourself a little further behind. having a boyfriend that is supportive should help you. take baby steps for right now and don't get discouraged. happy to meet you! pixie~ :D

Hello Jane and welcome! Nice to meet you. Choosing a healthy lifestyle sounds like a really good choice for you. Hen

Thanks for the encouragement, guys! As for exercise, I always get bored unless I'm doing a faster-paced workout. I'm not totally out of shape (I bike every day for transportation), I'm just way more out of shape than my boyfriend. What we're going to do is run at the high school track, so I can go at my own pace, and he can go at his. I love compromise! :) And maybe by this time next year, I'll be outrunning him! :D

you're probably better off having the in shape boyfriend. he can serve as motivation! imagine how great you'll feel when you outrun him. you can brag about that for years :) good luck.

Yeah, my boyfriend's great. Tonight at the track I was able to alternate running/walking for 2 miles, and I spent more than 1/2 the time running! Then I was feeling so motivated, I did some situps and push ups while my boyfriend finished up running his 5 miles. Sadly, running seems to make me gain weight. I try to remember that it's muscle I'm gaining, but it's still kinda depressing to work out for an hour and GAIN. The trend is good, though. I went from 235 down to 230 in about a week and a half. Also, I've been cooking lots of healthy and tasty things for dinner instead of going out to eat so much. Not only is it helping me lose weight, but I'm saving a TON of money, too. it turns out veggies are really cheap. ;-) Okay, that's all for now. I'm sure this is only interesting to me, but I'm excited about progress! Oh, by the way, if anyone wants to talk one-on-one, I'd love to. Just drop me a note. :) Jane
