i am 18 i am 5´3and i weigh in at 175 I need to lose weight but faster so i need a dramatic diet can someone tell me how many cals i should eat in order to lose the weight i want!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!

1500 calories is always a good amount.

I agree with 1500 cals a day. Good Luck Kiara

everyone will probably yell at this but I would suggest that you shoot for 1000 calories a day....but do not go over 1500 a day ....I allow myself about 1000 a day and I let myself go on the weekends and I go up to 1500 and it is really a treat for me PLUS and this is important DO NOT DENY yourself anything!!!! just limit HOW MUCH see your calories can come from anything Of course you want to eat a well balanced meal 3 times a day but you can have a piece of chocolate too :) Also check put the wide variety of foods that are sweetened with Splenda they taste like the full sugar versions and also the fat free things available not only better for you but lower in calories

i agree. if you want dramatic weight loss you can go around 1000 calories or so. however watch out for starvation metabolism. if the weight loss stalls you may have to mix it up. plus you need to exercise so make sure you're getting enough nutrition to work it.

what about exercise? that is another thing that will greatly improve your results. If you combine both of them together you are sure to see results..

how many cals do I need to maintain? I am 20 y/o female at 5'3 and 120 lbs.

i Believe that it is 10 times your present weight or about 1200 cals a day I would shoot for 1200-1500 if I were you ....... but others may think I am wrong and rememeber just because you go over you calories "needs" for a day doesnt mean that you have failed we all need to splurge at times as long as its not all the time Lady D

THAT'S NOT VERY MANY!!!!

well you did not say wether or not you were active I mean if you are int o jogging or running 5 or more miles a day or cycling or swimming or doing areobics classes 5 times a week of course you need more for an exteremely active gilr your age it could be as much as 2500 a day calories consumption is all relative relative to your weight relative to your activity relative to what you want to do try this then if you know what you are eating right now add say 500 calories to it for 2 weeks if you dont gain weight add 250 more and so on when you gain a lb back off your last6 addition of calories and that should be what you need to maintain BETTER YET Try this link: http://ww4.bhg.com/bhg/story.jhtml?storyid=/templatedata/bhg/story/data/12675.xml&catref=SC806 good luck blessings Lady D

There are a lot of variables as Lady D stated. Exercise? Are you doing any? Diet? What kinds of food are you eating? How often? 120 pounds sounds like a pretty healthy weight if you ask me, how much do you want to lose and why? (If you don't mind me asking..)

I agree that it definitely depends on your activity levels. If you are relatively active you can burn a lot more calories than someone who remains sedentary!

for a female 5'3" at 175 lbs: Your Body Mass Index is: 31.0 Your maximum healthy weight is: 141 lbs. A BMI below 25 is desirable for most people. If your BMI is 30 or higher, you may be at serious risk for weight-related health problems and should talk to your doctor. At your current weight and sedentary activity level, you need:mostly sitting 2502 calories per day To lose weight, you can reduce your food intake and/or increase your activity level. To gain weight, increase your calorie intake. A difference of 500 calories per day adds up to about a pound of weight loss (or gain) per week. At your current weight and light activity level, you need:sitting and walking equally each day 2695 calories per day To lose weight, you can reduce your food intake and/or increase your activity level. To gain weight, increase your calorie intake. A difference of 500 calories per day adds up to about a pound of weight loss (or gain) per week. At your current weight and moderate activity level, you need: mostly walking each day 2887 calories per day To lose weight, you can reduce your food intake and/or increase your activity level. To gain weight, increase your calorie intake. A difference of 500 calories per day adds up to about a pound of weight loss (or gain) per week. At your current weight and active activity level, you need:ie sports working construction etc 3080 calories per day To lose weight, you can reduce your food intake and/or increase your activity level. To gain weight, increase your calorie intake. A difference of 500 calories per day adds up to about a pound of weight loss (or gain) per week. Hope this finally answers this question LadyD

..that was thoughtful, ladydraggin.. :)

In a resent local newspaper article, I read that a study was conducted and showed that Atkins dieters could eat up to 300 hundred calories a day more then a low fat dieter and have the same weight loss. Also in the insulin resistant diet book they state that a person with insulin resistants will gain weight faster on a high carb/lowfat diet faster then someone who isn't insulin resistant while eating the same amount of calories. Has anyone else read or heard anything like this?

I would say go to 1500 cals one day the next do 1400 the next 1300-1200 and alternate between 1200-1500 so that way you are tricking your metabolism and at the same time those are healthy calorie range and you will lose on it... Drink atleast 64 oz of water and keep it steady, exercise by walking atleast 3-4 times a week, and do some weight training not much but like arms,, legs, and etc... about 3 times a week.. start off at around 10-20 mins a day and work up to where you are comfortable.. Definately, cut out soft drinks and become more aware of what you are putting in your body.. Read labels and soon you will memorize them and be creative don't let yourself get bored or you will end up giving up.. If you crave something try to wait 20-30 mins and if you are still craving it then have it but pay attn. to the serving size and just eat that and no more.. Don't deprive yourself or you will be setting yourself up for a failure later on.. Most important don't look at it like a diet but trying to make a change in your life and the good thing that comes out of it is weightloss.. Be realistic on plateaus, they will come and go...If you hit one then either eat something totally not normal for you or cut your cals by 500 cals or add 500cals for a day or two or switch between the two... You will see you will lose and the slower you lose the longer it will stay off and you will have more energy.. I hope I could help you in some small way and if I did I am thankful..
