i had my most consistent meal today: southern fried chicken salad and 3 soft pretzels. yum!
I guess you and I are the only ones posting so far on this topic Big Boy. How was your meal last night? Mine was great! I do make a mean grilled buffalo style chicken breast. I didn't have the salad but I did have a frozen yogurt with some chopped nuts and hershey's chocolate syrup. Tonight I'm on the run.. a dangerous time of course.. but after playing racquetball I'll go home, shower and have a piece of grilled chicken that I saved from yesterday and some salad before heading off to work again. Don't really know about tonight after I get home from work.. maybe some sliced ham with munster cheese. AF lll
Ok... so I played 5 games of racquetball today.. went home, showered and picked up my lunch and dinner for tonight: LUNCH: Two clementine oranges (easy to peel and tasty too) 1 can of diet cherry 7up Grilled chicken breast with mozzerella cheese DINNER: Thinly sliced Honey Ham (Mesquite Smoked) Thinly sliced Munster Cheese Ice water with lime AF lll
That sounds good. I haven't had lunch today. I'm thinking about dinner now. Maybe a 10 oz steak and some vegetables and a dinner salad.
I had some tea for Breakfast along with a nice workout. I'm planning on having a big salad and maybe some soup for dinner myself.
Breakfast today was 2 slices bacon 2 slices whole wheat toast herb tea Lunch-----Chicken breast baked potato green beans Dinner----will be Grilled cheese sandwich bowl no point soup. I also fit a couple of snacks in there. mostly fruit, or yogurt O2Bthin : :)
no point soup? Ok.. this might sound like a dumb question.. but hey.. I am a newbie.. and after all that is what newbies are good at... what is no point soup? AF lll
No questions are dumb.I am following WW 123 where you count points, and it is a vegetable soup, where you don't have to count the points.Need any more information, just ask. O2Bthin :)
i hit Friday's and had the Atking Sizzling NY Strip. i'm not a big fan of blue cheese but the meal was good!
That actually sounds pretty good Big Boy.. and I am a bleu cheese fan. I'll have to stop by there sometime and try it. Today I have to go to two luncheons.. the first is at a deli.. the second at a steakhouse. I'll eat at the first and mingle at the second.. drinking lots of water.... I need to stay focused.. I'm at 187.4 I'm 5lbs or so down from when I started.. I need to stay focused. Today's menu will be a sandwich on whole wheat and a salad. Before I go to lunch I'll probably have a couple slices of mesquite smoked ham and munster cheese. AF lll
I'm planning right now. The more I plan the meals the better the results. Good work on planning yours too. Having two events is tough.
Sounds like a busy day! Making a plan on how you are going to eat when faced with a double lunch is your best line of defense. A lot of delis also have salad offerings, too. I had a hard boiled egg and some canadian bacon for breakfast, along with some green tea. Lunch is a small salad with tuna. Dinner is up in the air as of yet. :( That is sort of bad planning, but it's the only answer I can supply right now. I 'll check back later and let you know what it ended up being :)
Breakfast------Cereal with strawberries milk orange Lunch------ sole fillets garlic mashed potatoes lima beans grapes Dinner---salad with Chicken slice toast baked apple. O2Bthin
i went out with the missus and splurged a little. i had buffalo wings and a colossal burger at ruby tuesdays. i left off most of the bread. i skipped dessert but only at my wife's urging.
For dinner I ended up having: Whole Wheat Pita stuffed with grilled chicken, sauteed portabella mushrooms and a slice of provolone cheese. With a bit of A-1 sauce for flavor. Small salad with dressing. No dessert. Tea.
i'm really glad i skipped the dessert. everything is clearer in the morning!
lol power poster Big Boy... I think your "category" changed. Anyway.. the buffalo wings sounded great.. so today when I went out to my luncheon I had an order of buffalo wings.. only two carbs It was really good! Weighed in this morning.. holding steady at 187.4 Tonight.. don't know what I'm having.. but I'm excited that I'm actively thinking about it... I like this thread.. (not because I started it) because it helps me to think ahead on my meals.. something I never really used to do. AF lll
i'm deciding on dinner right now. its gonna be a restaurant again. steak or a dinner salad? probably an appetizer first and no dessert.
Breakfast Cereal bar skim milk Lunch-----Beef Stroganoff Orange Dinner----Pita Bread with tuna Diet Soda Pumpkin Fluff Evening Snack microwave popcorn O2Bthin
i got my hands on a box of entemanns chocolate on chocolate donuts. it was not a pretty sight!
lol Big Boy! Did ya save one for me? Today I'm at 187.0 which means I'm down 6.4lbs from last week.. actually it will be a week come monday (today being saturday) Yesterday I had two hamburgers from Wendy's without the bun. A total of 9 carbs (mostly because of the ketchup) Today is my "splurge day".... some of you dieters might freak out about this.. but one day a week I allow myself to have whatever I want. (I still don't drink alcohol or sodas though) So.. today... who knows what I'll have... AF lll (I'd post it later.. but I don't want it to be a source of temptation for those on specific diets) (Maybe I'll post it in my journal)
i didn't save any for anyone. but the good news is i haven't eaten today but i have worked out. looks like tonight is gonna definitely be a salad night.
splurge days are not unheard of. it is kind of a good idea in a way. if you follow your diet and exercise, 6 days, one day a week you're free to eat whatever you want. it takes some pressure off! i went to the gym this morning and did 30 minutes on the eliptical trainer, and then some backs and abs. i feel really good, but i haven't ate anything yet today. bigboy. looks as if you had your splurge day last night! adidasfreak is going to have to have a doughnut for you today!
Yeah.. my splurge days are cool. Funny thing is though.. I find myself looking forward to them only to a degree. I thought I would look forward to them more.. but it isn't the case. Which is kinda cool. Thanks for the support PixieChic! AF lll
you're welcome! maybe you know in the back of your head that you'll have to burn off the extra calories? i'm going to eat healthy today. if i have a craving for chocolate, soy milk will have to do. have you ever tried it?
i had salad today. but dessert is right around the corner and it is early!
[quote:0e26638f7a="BigBoy"]i had salad today. but dessert is right around the corner and it is early![/quote:0e26638f7a] A rather ominous statement!
My splurge day was good... it was Saturday.. Yesterday I was really good... Today is one week since I started.. and I'm down from 193.4 to 189.2 4.2lbs So that is really cool considering my weekly goal is 2 lbs. For my menu today I will have sliced ham and munster cheese. Water and Diet Coke. AF lll
I bought a bunch of salad fixings at the store last night, so I 'm planning on boiling a few eggs, cooking some crispy bacon, and some other things to have an excellent salad for tonights dinner. I had a protein drink for breakfast this morning, another for lunch. :)
i'm back on the straight and narrow! this is gonna be a big salad week!
~hands bigboy a ruler to keep him on track~ I'm with ya bigboy! AF lll
it should be easy to stay on track because all i bought from the grocery store was salad fixings. its when i'm in the store where most of my battles are won or lost :) thanks for the continued support.
Right now I'm hungry... I'm going to go have some lean ham and munster cheese. All I've had today is Diet Coke and water.. and no I'm not starving myself... I've just been swamped.. and in places that haven't been good for the way that I eat. AF lll
steak caesar salad from applebee's. never had that one before. very good.
Had a pecan chicken last night wrapped in bacon. ~licks his lips~ It was DA BOMB! ~smirks~ ~comes back down a notch~ Today I'll probably head over to a buffalo wing joint that just opened up in town. Anyone want to come? AF lll
Went to the buffalo wing joint.. it was slammin! ~licks his all to full lips~ Tonight I'm not sure what I'll have.. perhaps I'll grill something... anyone with a suggestion? AF lll
chicken or pork are two things worth grilling.
AF..what is munster cheese? I have never heard of it?? IS it low fat? I laugh every time I see it in your menu....forgive me..it makes me think of a monster.....lol...... :) do you eat any veggies? AS veggies are carbs too but hte good kind..sometimes I drink V-8 for a cup of veggies..
I agree with BigBoy that the grocery store is where I win or lose. Mmmmm...I *love* Entenmanns donuts! ::drool:: Because I don't eat meat I've been staying away from the pasta and fried potatoes and buying from the fresh veggie section of the grocery. I'd never cooked things like asparagus or fresh string beans before, but that's what I'm doing now and they're not hard to cook at all! Both are actually much better tasting that anything frozen or in a can, as well. My main staples lately have been: breakfast: 1 fried egg vegan bacon 1/2 slice american cheese 1 dinner biscuit Lunch: tuna sandwich Dinner (some of these each night, but not all): corn on cob string beans cottage cheese asparagus Snack/dessert: canteloupe strawberries baby carrots chocolate pudding cucumbers
i'm glad someone knew what i meant. i have to defeat the lure of the entemanns and/or other chocolates when i'm out getting my food. if i don't drag it home it doesn't get eaten. i'm starting to really think this chocolate consumption is addictive.
Never go to the grocery store when you are hungry. That is one tip I have heard over and over. It makes a lot of sense, too. You are less likely to purchase quick "handy" foods, if you are not hungry. Those are the ones that normally sink me. I don't even walk down the chip aisle just to avoid the temptation. I do wonder how the Green Doritos are selling. They look as about as appealing as the green catsup from Heinz.
What happened to AdidasFreak? Let's hope he didn't fall of the wagon this quick! :P
NO... I'm here! ~waves his hands frantically~ ... _ _ _ ... That is S.O.S. for all of you non nautical types. Anyhow.. I was just on vacation for a week north of Houston.. but I'm back now... I splurged a little too much on vacation and gained 2 lbs or so.. but I'm basically on track for the easter challenge! Thanks for the thoughts though! Oh.. and for the pegster.. Muenster (I think that is how you spell it) Cheese is the creamyliciousest best tasting cheese on the planet.. you can usually find it in a deli cabinet at the grocery store. It is SOOOOOOOOOOO good! ~his full lips curl at the corners into a full smile~ Try it sometime if you can.. (I watch my carbs so I can from time to time.)
Tonight I'll be grilling some jumbo shrimp marinated in an orange garlic butter with parmesan cheese.... I'll also be grilling up some skinless, boneless cayenne pepper chicken breast with garlic butter anyone want some? AF lll
ok i know i'm veggie but hell thats sounds good sheikha
AF Is that your own recipe for the shrimp? I think you need to share it if it is! That does sound yummy. Even my kids eat shrimp and I think they would love it. Ellie
~walks around with a sealed envelope labeled "super duper top secret"~ ummm... don't know if I can do that... ~hunter green eyes shifting quickly from right to left as he pulls down his fedora turns up his collar and darts off into an alley~ AF lll
You guys are too funny! 02Bthin...what is your recipe for "no point soup"? I LOVE soup. I am sort of following a low carb diet ... actually, I'm basically eating NO "white processed" foods, white bread, pasta, white flour, very little potatoes etc. So for dinner we had eggs, sausage, and cracked wheat toast. yummy
Af... u cant even share ur recipes wiht us what type of support is this? :( plzzzzzzzzz... :D [/quote]
lol.. Good point Shyam! Shrimp is always a a tasty dinner! Kinda costly, but good nonetheless!
Shrimp is expensive, but not any more expensive than a Big Mac and fries depending on how you look at it! ~smiles~ Anyway... ummm... regarding the recepie.. well.. see its not really an exact science. I get some good sized gulf shrimp (fresh) 9-12's or so for you fisherman types. Usually about 15-20 per person. Then I grab an aluminum bowl, skewers and an empty plate... The original way I did this was with lime, but I've tried it with oranges and it works great too! First I run the shrimp under cold water, and peel everything but the tail.. you have to hold onto something when you eat them! then after rinsing the shrimp I blot with a paper towel and place into the medium sized aluminum mixing bowl. (glass or pyrex is not as good for this purpose) I then mix in minced garlic, garlic salt, salt, onion powder, and the squeezed out juice of 2 oranges per person. (so if you have 40 shrimp, there should be 4 oranges in the mix) A bit of soy sauce.. then mix well so all of the shrimp are covered with the concoction.... then I let it sit at room temperature for about an hour and a half. You must preheat the grill on high for 15 minutes prior to grilling. Make sure you coat the grill with extra virgin olive oil before you light that sucker up. Now you want to melt a half stick of butter and get a basting brush (the fat will melt away in the cooking process so dont freak out) When the grill is super hot, skewer the shrimp (no more than 5 per skewer) you can intermix onions, peppers or like I do, pinapple in between each shrimp. Place the skewers on the grill for four minutes, flipping every minute! So they get two minutes per side... no more! Of course this depends on the size of your shrimp. But if you use 9-12's a minute per side is perfect. On the last flip, baste the shrimp right before you flip em, watch for flare up and baste immediately on the other side.. pull the shrimp off and eat. This is one of the most scrumptious concoctions I've been able to create.. I can't tell you how yummy this is if done right. Oh.. and if you aren't Ellie ~smiles~ LIME is the way to go. The original idea came with lime rather than oranges.. and it takes 3 and one half limes per person... ~his mouth waters~ and this is REALLY REALLY good! Hope that helps.. if anyone tries it, let me know how it turned out for you... AF lll
AF that sounds good however i wont b using it;) i am veggie so no fish i just wnated to make sure u give it to the others  ANyways tonight i am maiking Taco's with salad.
AF - I knew you'd crack under pressure! Thanks for the recipe. I'll try it out this weekend.
sounds good. since he even included the cooking instructions i should be able to bring that to a restaurant and have someone make it for me :)
