Since Featherish went online, we have had several "challenges" (or "challanges") in the community to help keep each other motivated. Spring and summer are just around the corner, and the time to set goals is now! To get more people involved in our community we invite you to join the [b:a65d5c77a1]Featherish Easter Weight Loss Challenge[/b:a65d5c77a1]. Unlike the challenges that have been posted here before, we will award 3 prizes to randomly selected participants. Prize 1: A $50.00 Charter One Gift Card. Prize 2: A $25.00 Charter One Gift Card. Prize 3: A $10.00 Charter One Gift Card. If you would like to participate, please post in this thread with YOUR GOAL. Your goal can be to lose 5 pounds, exercise more often, heck.. even drinking more water! Just write down what your goal is, and be sure to return on Easter Sunday (April 11, 2004) and let us know how you did. In order to qualify for the drawing you will need to return! Once everyone has "checked in" we will randomly select three (3) qualified participants. We will announce winners in this same thread on Monday April 12, 2004. We hope you will decide to join us in this challenge and become a part of our community!

I'll be the first. I'm not too proud to put my name in for a chance to win. :) My goal is to lose 10 pounds. I will accomplish this by walking for a half an hour every day, and eating less calories. Anyone else?

i'm in. i plan on losing 10 pounds. i will continue to exercise and i'll eat right. i will look at this thread often when i feel that i'm drifting off course!

Almost 2 months away - I'm gonna try to lose 30 lbs...that way even if I don't make it there at least I will lose 20 *hopefully* Yeah, so I'm gonna do pilates 5x/week, drink lotsa water and take vitamins daily, and cuz back on calories! :D I am excited and pumped to do this! Are we allowed to post our progress and updates?? I hope so I will do good!!!!

i'm in! my goal is to have the beginnings of a 6 pack ab! to do this, i will add another set of 15 crunches to my daily routine. i am also going to try and add an extra 5 minutes on the stationary bike. check back in whenever you want, would be my guess. all of the other challenges here have a few pages!

I'm in! I will lose 6 by that date!

I'm too and in on this challange...........current weight is 120. My goal is 110 with alot of firming up. I hope to accomplish this by watching my food intake and getting off my behind and walking. Nice to see there are a few of you here..............I will need support.

I'm in too!! Let's see... Easter is a little over 7 weeks away... I'll be traveling 6 of those weeks. While in Europe, I tend to walk a lot more, but with eating out 3 meals everyday my weight usually remains constant. Those "free" all-I-can eat breakfast buffets are my downfall! Does anyone know how to say, "I'm looking for an internet cafe, with a digital scale" in Italian? Current weight - 148 Goal weight - 135 (I'm 5'7") By Easter - 143 Thanks for the added incentive, guys! Jen

Me too. Current weight: 135 Target weight: 125

good to see some enthusiasm! congrats to everyone for joining!

I'm in. Current weight 151. Goal is to lose 10 pounds. Having a real hard time. (Was the same weight in October and didn't make the Halloween challenge!) Hope to do better this time!

Count me in....I've been doing workouts three times a week but my weight seems to be the same. I plan to increase to 4 times and have only fruits and vegetables for dinner. Need to loose 10 Ibs

Great to see some interest. :) I also want to stress that this is not a "weight loss competition" It is more about setting goals and sticking to them. Eating unhealthy or trying to lose mass amounts of weight in a short period of time isn't what this about. Winners will be selected randomly, so I just want to stress it is about Goal Setting, making a plan to achieve it, and then doing it! Be sure to post your progress along the way :) Be Healthy and Safe! ~feathers

My goal is to maintain my current weight!

Good Morning, My goal is to lose 10 lbs by Easter. I plan to do this to honor my lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who took my place on Calavary. Thank you Jesus for my eternal life. :o

I plan to up my walking routine to 4 days a week and eat more fruit. I hope to lose 6 more lbs. in the process. EllieFunt

I'm in! I am getting married in October and am already on the weight loss path. I will lose 15# by easter. I will accomplish this by going to the gym and working out for an hour (at least) three times a week. I will also stick to the low carb south beach plan my fiance and I are on (already lose 26# since starting in Sept. even with the Holidays) Ok, here goes, NO CHEATING! Good luck everyone! ~~Andrea :D Age: 29 (30 in July, yikes!) Height: 5'11" Weight: 198 Ultimate Goal Weight: 170 Pants size: 16 (I'd like to be in a size 12)

I am a 63 y.o. Native American male with Type II diabetes, low HDL, and moderate hypertension. I am seeking to reduce from 234 to 220 by Easter. 8) Projects without goals are like arrows shot without a target. You can't tell if you've hit it if you don't know what you are shooting at. Winter Owl

Congrats on your forthcoming wedding! and the weight you have lost already. That is wonderful :) Great see another person joining the challenge :)

Hi! Count me in! My current weight is 268! I would like to lose 15lbs by Easter! Want to drink more water, less coffee and exercise more. Good luck to all. Jane :D

~hops on the easter challenge~ My goal is to lose 12 pounds by April 11th. DO WE HAVE A WINNER????? ~listens for Don Pardo~ AF lll

I am not really good at challenges, but i will try for 5 lbs by Easter, and drink my 8 glasses of water a day, which i neglect quite often. O2BThin :)

looks like quite a few people are entering! and why not? lose a few pounds and maybe gain a few bucks :)

I am in. My goal is to increase my water intake. My current intake a day is 60oz of water a day. Durring the challange i plan to drink 80oz a day. Hopefuly by increasing my water it will speed up my weight loss.

looks like the competition is going to be getting fierce here! i am not working out today, i did a really good work out yesterday and my legs can feel it! it is supposed to get up to 45 degrees today, so i might wear a skirt to show them off a little. :)

Hello! I joined today and part of the reason I did join was because I read about these challenges, and I think it's a great way to stay motivated. All too often after the first few months it's too easy to grow bored and just give up. Setting up relatively short term goals is (in my opinion) a great idea! Anyway, my goal is to lose 14 pounds before easter to reach my ideal 140 pound goal. I am going to do this by doing *AT LEAST* 3, 1 hour sessions in the gym each week, and cutting down on my food intake to approximately 1,200 calories a day. (crosses fingers) Wish me luck!

Hello, this is the first time that I have been on this website as a member and I would like to join the challenge. After reading all of the other replies I am not sure if this is the website for me though because all of you only need to lose a few pounds to reach your weight goal. I am 5'10" and 250 pounds. I need to lose a total of 100 pounds to reach my ideal weight. I figured I better get started because I am turning 35 next month and if I don't do it now it will never happen. So my goal for this challenge is 10 pounds. I don't want to aim too high and be disappointed if I fail. But I am not going to fail because I am determined.

I must not have entered yet! Of course I will enter. I want to lose 6 pounds more by then. Actually pound loss is coming slower since I'm working out. But I can do it.

well...I worked out for 1 1/2 hours yesterday and today...GEEZ can I feel it! AND stuck to the south beach thing...not too bad! On my way to 185!!! Andrea  I plan to go try on wedding dresses after this little challenge is all done...I want to knock everyone (including myself and my fiance's) sock's off!!!

:welcome Anita! of course you are welcome to join on in. feathers (admin) posted this in another thread: "I would also like to clarify that the Easter Challenge IS NOT a weight loss competition. I don't want members here to make themselves sick or anything like that. I want people to set goals and then work to achieve them. " so goal setting is what is really important, and making a plan to follow through is also. everyone here is here to lose weight. some people have more to lose than others, but we can all help each other. :) glad to have you :)

Good work on working out Andrea! Way to go!

Me too! I am going to do water aerobics 3 times a week, and add some weight lifting to my routine. Current weight:198 Goal Weight: 150 Easter Goal Weight: 185 Thanks for offering this as some extra incentive.. that is really cool! ..and here I've been thinking about biting a chocolate bunnies head off. That's cruel!

Hi Everyone! How are you all doing today? I have the worst chocolate craving!! Trying to calm it with some sugar-free hot cocoa. take care all, Jane :o

hi jane! chocolate is my biggest problem! always has been and probably always will be. i have some oatmeal in place of chocolate. it doesn't trigger my dopamine but i guess it satisfies my craving by like 10 % :)

my goal is to be 140 pounds by easter. good luck everyone!! :)

Chocolate is truly addictive. It's the downfall of many! Avoid it as much as you can and if you do break down, keep the portion sizes in control.

I'm in!! I have been watching what I eat since Jan. 19th and have already lost 6# and 6" total (started at 146#). :D My goal date was actually the day after easter to weigh 130 but what the heck I can move it up one day!! Weight loss has slowed down though because I am now working out 5-6 days a week 40 min a day. So I am dealing with muscle gain also :D

Hi Mandy! Welcome to the Challenge :) Muscle gain is much better than fat gain! Do you notice that your clothes are fitting different?

I had high hopes of already starting my healthy eating plan by now, but I haven't found the motivation I need to get organized and follow through. Don't seem to have enough time to prep healthy meals. Having real issues with sweet stuff this month, too! Current weight: 160 Goal weight: 128 By Easter: 148 (I hope!) I need all the help and motivation I can get!![/color:13f9bf3eb9]

A bit of motivation is all you need sometimes! Great to have you here :) What are you going to do to start losing weight?

Since I've became a member I've lost 6lbs and plan to lose another 10 by Easter! current weight: 148 by easter: 138 goal weight: 125

That is really great news, Guerra! Glad to hear you're having so much success.

How nice of Featheris to do this! Thanks! :D Most cool! 8) Easter is April 11th. Today is Feb. 20th. That's 7 weeks and 2 days away (or 51 days). The BowFlex challenge is just a 6-week program! So this gives everyone an extra week. I stepped on my work scale today and shockingly discovered that I weighed less than I ever had before - 251.4 pounds (fully dressed)! I have been exercising a lot more this past week - having finally gotten over the January blahs - and maybe it's showing. Therefore, my goal is to lose 15 pounds. I'd love to be in the 230's by Easter (and again, that's fully dressed on my work scale). I think this is a reasonable goal - and if I'm lucky, I might even lose more. And for those Catholics in the group, with the Lenten season soon upon us (Ash Wednesday is Feb. 25th), reaching this Easter goal might be even easier. Good luck everyone! Even if we don't win a prize, if we meet our goals, we are ALL winners (winners for being losers!).

[quote:983894a6ae="Anita"]Hello, this is the first time that I have been on this website as a member and I would like to join the challenge. Some of us list 15-20 pounds for our various challenges, but I can assure you, many of us have 50-100 (or more) pounds to lose. I'm just a bit over 250 pounds. My long-term goal is to get to 199 (I just want to be under 200 - even if for a day! LOL!). I started at 300 pounds! 8O So you can see, I've lost about 50 already and have another 50 to go. I know there are others here who also want to lose a lot. You just have to start some place. Therefore, set your 10 pound Easter challenge goal and go from there. You might find that you've succeeded and even surpassed that goal. And once you get going, it'll motivate you to keep going - even if you do take a "break". Good luck!

congrats on hitting a new high in lows doc! the exercise is paying off!

[quote:c6abb4130c]Since I've became a member I've lost 6lbs and plan to lose another 10 by Easter![/quote:c6abb4130c] great job guerra! :D DoctorU2, I just want to thank you for your response to my message. It must feel absolutely wonderful to lose 50 pounds. That is 5 sacks of potatoes. If you go into the grocery store and pick up just one its seems pretty heavy...try picking up 5 all at once. That is how much less weight you are carrying around. Congratulations!! That is a great accomplishment. I cannot wait until the day I can feel that difference. One day at a time right? Also, elvira I just want to say in response to your message, I get up every day with the intention of eating right. Only 1200 calories, lowfat and low sugur foods but sometime through out the day I am tempted and I give in and eat something that is totally bad for me and I feel guilty and then I say what the hell I will just stay fat forever, who cares what people think of me...until I go home and look in the mirror, then I cry and say I will do it starting tomorrow. This is pretty much how it goes day after day. But I don't give up because one day I figure I am actually going to do this. So don't feel bad and whatever you do DON'T ever give up. We can do this together.

i always think of 10 pound sacks of kitty litter. it would be real tough to carry an extra five of those every day.

I decided that i will give my self a little extra motivation. My offical easter goal is to drink 80oz of water a day. mean while i hope o loss wieght. i set up an account where a portion of my pay goes into it. When i reach my goal wieght i will spend the saved money on a nice treat for myself. my only problem is what. i quess that depends on how much money i have saved by then

If you could save 50.00, you could probably get a nice massage. This is one pampering to afford yourself once in a while. It relaxes you for sure.

Hello everyone! Great to see that there is some interest in the Featherish Challenge! I am excited to see that some people have already had some success and would like to encourage everyone here. There is still a [b:aed663b4fe]lot [/b:aed663b4fe]of time left to meet your goals! If you have a friend or family member that could use a "boost" to get fit, be sure to pass our "challenge" along.. Thanks for being a part of our community :) ~feathers

:( I was really excited about this challange and decided to go buy a new scale..............I weigh 4 lbs more then I thought. So I guess I need to work even harder........... Current weight 124 Goal by Easter 110

those scales are something. they are almost always wrong!

 BigBoy, I so hope your right.

oh i am! i know scales. and they lie! :) it's their nature.

I have tried to lose weight since jan 1 this year. This is through cutting carbs and taking up walking (about 4kms 4 to 5 times a week) I have only lost 1.5g kgs (3 lbs) and am feeling despondent. But I intend carrying on and intensifying the exercise. My easter goal is to lose 6 kgs. I now weigh an embarassing  83 kgs. Easter's goal may be a bit steep - but I have a long weigh to go,... My goal is 63kgs.

:welcome jenny don't be despondent. at least you got started. walking is more of a hobby that exercise from what i can tell. i used to walk a lot and it never helped me lose weight. exercising more intensely may be worthwhile.

Hello Jenny, welcome to the challenge! Making an effort is most important. Walking is a great way to get your body moving. If the walking doesn't challenge you enough, maybe try adding a bit of jogging. Even if you can only do it for a minute or two to begin with, this will help to raise your heart rate. Nice to meet you!

..if everyone here told just one friend it would be a much bigger challenge! edited for typo!

Speed walking does help some people. My sister lost 150lbs and the only change that she made is that she started walking. She started speed walking a little at first but evintualy she got up to doing 15 miles a day, and it seemed that the wight just dropped off her.

I am going to do my best to lose 10 lbs. I will eat right and drink lots of water.

well, my fiance is going to do the challenge with me, which will make it a lot easier. he needs to lose a bit too so this will be fun! i have tried going to the gym after work. it's hard because i work 12 hour shifts (i'm an rn) but i figure if i spend a half hour either on the treadmill or elliptical walker or with weights, it will make quite a difference. i think that any change you make towards a healthier, more active lifestyle is a good change!

thats great news! a 1/2 hour on the elliptical trainer has a lot of benefits. it really gets your heart rate elevated and has wonderful effects. good luck to you.

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. I live in South Africa, which is a long way from where I guess most of you live, so we will be experiencing the end of summer soon, but the climate allows us to exercise outdoors all year round. I try to walk briskly and have been breaking into a jog now and then and intend to keep this up and to end up doing more running than walking. I agree that walking can be done in such a way that it is virtually no exercise at all. A friend walks with wrist weights. Any comments on that? I am not sure it is so good for you.

it adds some resistance, which makes it more like exercise. but the truth is, it doesn't really elevate your heart rate. you need to be sweating with your heart pounding to get many of the benefits of working out.

I think walking counts to a certain degree. To really burn calories you would almost have to powerwalk to work up a sweat. But you have to start somewhere. Like Jennyvg suggested, adding weights to your wrists and ankles will provide more resistance, and make the walk more challenging.

Hi, Hope to lose about 50 more pounds. Have lost about 40 so far and feel a lot better. I hope to lose at least 10 more pounds by April. I am stuck in a rut but maybe this will motivate me to try and do more. :D

Count me in this challenge please? I wanna drop 15lbs by Easter. I'm fairly active so I think I'll do it by replacing two of my meals with 12oz of juice flavored kefir with a little Barlean’s flax seed oil. Stay healthy, Jubal

maemae.. congrats on your weight loss so far! what have you done to lose the weight so far? the nice thing about "ruts" is that we can break them. jubal. great to see you back! now is a great time to start shedding some of the holiday weight! good luck to everyone here on meeting the challenge!

good work on losing 40 pounds maemae! that is quite an accomplishment.

Hi, I am new here and would love to join in on the Easter Challenge. I have been looking for a place to gain support while losing weight and getting into shape, and it looks like i have found it! I will lose 10 pounds and drink at least 64 oz of water a day.

nice to meet you, halley :) welcome to the challenge! hope that this is the place you were looking for :)

I am in.I am a newbie but I plan to lose 15 pounds by that date by exercise and watching what I eat... :) I will defenatly put my name in the drawing...

Hi, back again. The first time I entered the amount that I wanted to lose but not how much I weight now. That would be 209. I want to lose 10 lbs by easter. I think I can do it.

I'm in....... Current Weight: 137 Goal: 120

I am going to lose 35 pounds by June!

what about easter? i think its an easter challenge. (but setting goals for june is never a bad idea either) i have slowly been adding extra minutes to my cardio routine. that is part of my easter goal.

luna seems to be under the spell of the moon, if you know what i mean :) but good luck anyway luna!

I stepped on my work scale today (fully dressed, with shoes) and it read 248 pounds!! 8O That's my new low! Never has it broken 250. So naturally, I celebrated by having snacks at work. LOL! I ate chips, cheese and snacks. Today is Ash Wednesday, so I don't want to overdo it, but I figured as I didn't celebrate "Fat Tuesday" at all, I can flip the days. Starting tomorrow, no more indulgences. Still, whatever I'm doing is apparently working at least a little. Yay!

congrats on your new low doc

Count me in too!! First for everything today!! start-210 lose 10 lbs for Easter!!! :D

Just checking in on challenge. My goal is to drink 80oz of water a day, and so far i have. I have not lost any weight though. But that is maybe becuase i am trying to tone and build some lean muscle at the same time.

I'm checking in as well. Doing better with my walking routine now that we're getting a warm up here in the windy city! And I'm eating more fruit. I eat lots and lots of veggies, but somehow I neglect my fruit in the wintertime. Feeling good!!! :D EllieFunt

Checking in too! I'm on track.. on schedule.. actually a little ahead of schedule. But I've got a one week vacation coming up with the In-laws.. I hope that I can be consistent. I have decided to allow myself two splurge days this coming week instead of one just so that I don't throw everyone in the household into confusion and since it is not so often that we have this family time. But I WILL follow my eating habits for the other 5 days. I'll report back of course! ~smiles and waves~ AF lll

Well, keeping to my 5 one hour sessions at the gym each week. Did them all last week and on my Third today for this week. Not too shappy. PLUS, I walked for 35 minutes on the treadmill at 4.3 miles per hour! WOW!!! Between that and the weight training each time, I should start seeing results SOON! I plan to weigh in each Saturday so, two more days to really do it!! Good luck all!!! ~~Andrea

Alas, the scale went back into the 250's. Granted, part of it has to do with clothing (sweaters, shoes, etc. do make a difference). But another part is due to the fact that I ate almost nothing on Tues. So on Wed. I'm sure the scale reflected that. But at least I worked out this morning. And now that I saw the scale once in the 240's - even though it was fleeting, I know I can get it back there if I keep at it! :D

I know that you can get back to the 240's soon. If you keep up the determination i know that it wont be too long until you get to the 230's

I have gone to the gym twice this week and that is more than last week..it is a nice sunny day here in the Great White North..grabbing my husband and going to go for a walk...Have to break that 200 mark..hopefully by Easter....210 right now..and only 5 foot nothing!! But lots of spunk!! Need to be committed..drinking lots of water..need to build up those veggies and fruits again....bread is my downfall....love it..have type 2 diabetes and need to eliminate it!! Good luck this week to all of you!! :D :D :D Pegster

Howdy Folks, Hope all are well. 4lbs down 11 to go. Stay healthy, Jubal

It's really wonderful that everyone is doing so well! **Patting everyone on their back for the great job** I am still hanging right in a range. I had to go away for the weekend, so I got out of my habits for a second. But tommorrow, I'm going back to the gym in the morning. I'm at 135, I walked 2 hours today (and even got some sun) this is at the end of the day after a salad for dinner. Hope that everyone is having great success! Happy Leap Year Day By the way! :)

way to go everyone! this is truly inspirational! the summer months are coming and everyone is shaping up just great!

Keep up the momentom everyone, and goood luck there is still a lot of time left to meet the challange. Just a question. Does anyone know how many people joined the challange?

we'll have to get a head count! nice job, kiara. lost a couple of pounds, did you?

I did a head count, there are about 40 people involved. There is still time for others to join, and don't forget everyone will have to post their results on Easter in order to qualify for the drawing. So if you have a friend that could use a little inspiration/ motivation, tell them about us! I know it isn't as big as a Bally's challenge, or Dr. Phil challenge, but it is something to motivate those of us that aren't quite ready to be on television :) It is great that everyone here is having results, and I'm anxious to hear more success stories! There are 41 days left to accomplish your goal :) so keep on the right track.. Good Luck!

There's still plenty of time to join!

I plan to lose 15 lbs. by Easter. Currently: 135 Goal: 120 I'll drink more water, eat more fruits and veggies (esp. those with a lot of fiber), and use the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator anywhere I go, walk more often, and eat less dinner.

nice goals to work towards! I did 50 crunches this morning, so hopefully my abs of steel will be making a debut before too long.. :)

2004 has been the best year I've ever had for exercising. We're into the third month of the year already and I am still going!

okay i thought i had posted to this but that might of been when my account wasn't working anyways i think i put i wanted to lose 6 pounds total for the challenge so from 174 to 168 i think i can accomplish this and i've been drinking water i know i'm loosing inches in my belly i've went from a size 18 to a 16 :)

Count me in! I am going to start doing yoga to become more limber, and help to calm my mind. Thanks for offering this to the members here, that is really cool!

I'm in.... I want to exercise more at least 5 times a week for at least 20 minutes each time.

ok i want in on this i wanna loose 5lbs by easter

:D Down 3lbs and worn of pair of my old Tommy Girls yesterday.......was even able to eat dinner and not have to run to pull them off because they vised up on me.................. Right now I am going through a real stressful situation..........so I hope my walking and digging in the dirt will keep my mind on my goal and away from the snacks. The weather is a real plus, we are having 70's, lots of rain, but thats o.k. the warmer weather means srping is almost here. I just love all the positive I'm finding here. starting weight 124 current 121 goal 110

[/color:fe71561297]Ok count me!!! I will drink lots more water, exercise more and I will loose 5lbs. I will need lost of support but I will do it!!! :D

This week has been horrible for exercising! We were short at work (I'm a nurse) so I decided to pick up 2 extra shifts this week. 60 hours in 5 days! I am BEAT!! The money will be nice! I was "good" tho. I didn't eat a lot of junk, but I didn't exercise at ALL this week! So, I went today and plan to go tomorrow. Probably too little too late but, ah well! Still hanging at 196. I have 11 more to lose to reach my short term goal. My mom is coming out in May to help me find a wedding dress so, another goal is for May 13th, 180#! Keep up the good work everyone and wish me luck!! ~~Andrea

way to go everyone. great work kindy :) exercise becomes a habit. it takes 3 weeks to form habits according to studies, so push yourself for one month. schedule it the same time everyday. and before long it just becomes something you do, not something you have to worry about.

Great to see a few new faces! Andrea.. That is a lot of hours to work. Your employer is lucky to have you as an employee. Be sure to tuck some the extra money away as a reward! Kindy.. That is great :) It is always a good feeling when you can fit back into a pair of jeans that you haven't wore in a while. Keep it up! I weighed in this morning, and I am hanging tough at the same weight as always. On the bright side, I have been exercising every day so I'm going to keep chalking it up as muscle weight. I have been doing a half an hour of exercise, and then lifting weights. I guess if I weren't doing that much I would be more concerned. Anyhow I wanted to check in on the challenge.. give kudos to those that are doing well, give encouragement to those that need it, and let everyone know how I'm doing.. Have a good one!

Okay i'm 172 now so only 4 more to go for the challenge :D

that is great brandy! what have you done so far to lose the weight? (if you don't mind me asking) 4 more pounds isn't that much to lose in the forthcoming weeks, i have a feeling that you can do it for sure :)

Hi everyone! I'm glad to see so many people involved in the challenge :) ..and I'm even happier to hear that people are having success already! Collectively and individually, I think we can lose a lot of weight in the next 35 days. What do you guys think of a live webcam drawing for our winners?

Thanks for the encouragement Pixie what your real name?Anyways i've just basically started excercising alot more and drinking mostly water no cokes, sprites, teas just water and milk and sometimes juice. And i changed my eating alot too instead of going out to eat all of the time i eat usually alot of Healthy choice soups and stuff and i also switched from white bread to wheat and 1% milk instead of 2%.Thanks for asking i hope i offered some suggestions that you can change for yourself.

i am in. i am 23yr old female. *sigh* 213 lbs. My eventual goal is to be between 137 to 140lbs. Easter is almost 6 weeks away, so i will set my goal at 6 lbs. I will acheive this by1. eating a little less carbs( i'm a carb adict) 2. eat more fruits and vegetables 3. limit daily calories to 1200-1300 4. exercise- will go to the gym on days of incliment wetaher and on good weather days will walk 5. limit fat intake and reduce snacking. good luck to all!

Good job to everyone who is doing this.... I hope we all make our goals.... much love Scorchin :P

well...still hanging at 196 but i feel better! i walked on the treadmill today for a whole HOUR at between 3.6 and 4.0 mph. NOT BAD!! just gotta keep up the momentum! great job to everyone for hanging in there! ~~Andrea

HOW COOL!!! Well to celebrate my triumphant return to my dieting I am in! I actually set up a challenge for me and my sister in law for Easter: we are both gonna lose 5lbs by Easter and if we do then we are treating ourselves to manicures!! Sure would be nice to have a prize from here too! After Easter we are gonna make another one for Mother's Day! Good Luck everyone!!!!!!!!

great work everyone!

Keeping our commitments to ourselves to live better is well worth it. I've had family visiting, so my schedule has been thrown off. I overslept and missed my workout for the first time since in the beginning of the year. I've been going consistently every morning until today. BUT., on the bright side I decided that I am not breaking my winning streak on this day. I am going to the gym tonight after work, and getting it in for sure...

My goal is to lose 10 pounds by April because I have my senior prom on April 2nd and I want to look good, I will do this by walking for 2 miles everyday, drinking more water, and eating less calories.

I needed the extra motivation to get me to my goals! My biggest goal is to TONE UP! I exercise here and there, but not very consist. So my goal is to exercise every other day and eat balanced meals with lots of water. Oh and to loose weight. So I guess my overall goal is to be swimsuit ready by Easter. AND THAT'S GOING TO EQUAL A LOT OF EXERCISE! START WEIGHT: 118.5 (5'4.5") GOAL WEIGHT: I will know when I get there.[/color:a1562c7758]

My goal is to dink 80 oz of water everyday. which i have been sicking too. I thought that it would help me lose wieght but for the most part i am stickin at even. at first I thought that it wasnt working but then i relised that I am losing inches and the reason that i am not droping pounds yet is because i am gaining muscle. i added a toning program to my routine. i know that my weight will drop adventualy if i stick to it. so i am not that worried. For the most part i think that i am suceeding. Congrats to all who have seen results. keep up the good work. Good luck to everyone For the rest of the challange.

Ok, new to the bunch. Decided about a month ago to start. Looking forward to a cruise to Alaska and not having any air to breath when I get there. 2/16 heaviest ever: 320 as of 2/28 I'm at 303 Cruise goal in August is 260 Final goal is 160 Until then, I'll keep moving

still at 172 but that's okay i will do it still :D

Howdy to all again, Just checkin' in with the progress here. The goal for me was set on February 23 at a 15lb weight loss for this challenge. I decided to accomplish this by replacing two of my meals (AM & PM) with 12oz of juice flavored kefir and adding 1tbs of Barlean’s flax seed oil to each serving. As of this morning I have dropped 12 ½ lbs w/ 2 ½ to go to victory…. *hears the theme from Rocky softly playing in the background as it slowly builds crescendo* :O) Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

Congrats Jubal. Keep up the good work, and good luck on the last 2 1/2 lbs.

:D Down another lb. This has been a lot easier this time, as I have decided NOT to diet, but to eat right. I have a book from Prevention called Get Thin Get Young................GREAT BOOK. I have been doing lots of yard work, blowing and raking leaves, mowing and working in the garden planting and hoeing. Looks like things are startin to happen......yea!!!!!!. Sounds like everyone is really working hard at this challenge.......I just love it here.

i will drink a lot more water and i will lose 7 pounds by that date. putting me at 173, by april 11th.. i need to first get over the plateau i'm at right now.. grr.. any ideas?

Thank you kiara, and my congrats to all for your accomplishing/ed goal/s. Success (for me) in this endeavor becomes a matter of proper perspective. We tend to believe our appearance matters more than who we are. Just as the saying “clothes make the man” so our perceived personal body image tends to make each of us. Aesthetics then becomes a goal rather than health (mental and physical). I used to be very fit, but due to an accident a few years ago I lost that fitness and due to several surgeries I became partially disabled, fat, and lost most of my vitality and my self-image left with it. With more surgeries in the future I became tired of what seemed to me to be a never ending cycle and further loss of body parts and vitality. I decided to try a different approach, I began to educate myself and take responsibility for my own health and wellbeing instead of leaving it in the hands of Dr.s. Since then I have discovered that weight loss and self-image are amenities of good health, tho I didn’t always think of these things in this way. Also tho still disabled I have again obtained a lot of my former fitness and vitality, and it was all a matter of changing perspective. I hope not to sound like a “know it all” about this, it’s just that changing my perspective helped me immensely, it worked for me. Thank you again for the encouragement :O). Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

Sure i'll do it.. i want to loose my 5 lbs by the 9th of April as my husband and i are going away for the easter weekend .. so i wont be able to check in but i dont mind i just wnat to be set a challenge and try and loose 5 lbs by it. MY challenege is to loose 5 lbs of weight and an inch of my hips, thighs and waist. shiekha

**Greetings to newbies!** Jubal.. Nice job on your weight loss, that has got to make you feel excellent! Keep up the good work :) I have been so busy, I haven't had the time or inclination to hop on the scale. :? I'm betting that I am still in the same range as I have been for a WHILE. So there is my update for our challenge! Good luck to everyone!

So far so good... I'm actually right on track for my challenge.. I'm at 185.4 this morning which is exactly on target for my challenge. ~keeps fingers crossed~ AF lll

**high fiving everyone involved in the challenge** It's gonna be hard to have only 3 random winners! Everyone seems to be doing really well so far.. 27 days left to accomplish our goals! Keep up the GREAT work, everyone

Just wanted to check in.... I am at my lowest weight in probably 15 years! The pain I was experiencing in my knees last fall is completely gone! (who would have thought it was 25+ lbs causing it??? ) I can actually RUN and play with my kids without losing my breath and needing to rest. This is the best gift I could have ever given myself & my kids. I have boosted my walking routine to 5 days a week with an occassional hike on the weekends. Now to just get my fruit intake up and I'll really be on the right track.

GREAT JOB ELLIE >:D< I missed a couple days of exercise my boyfriend was down for a few days, but other than that i've been doin good. yippeeee

ellifunt.. that is great! keep on doing what your doing and success is assured. girljam.. what kind of exercise are you doing? maybe you just need to mix things up a bit to get your body back to burning fat. it might be as simple riding a stationary bike in place of a treadmill for a day or two. kindy.. sounds as if you have been getting a lot of stuff done! spring will be here soon enough and having all of that stuff done now will assure a great lawn and garden. jubal.. wow! keep it up you :)

~gives ellie a HUGE hug~ I'm really happy for you ellie! It is such a blessing to see your post! AF lll

woohoo elliefunt! that is some great news!

[/size:b0117eb0f2] I would love to join! i want to lose 15 pounds, and i really dont know how to lose it, can someone please e-mail me on how i could lose weight easily and quickly? thanks everyone!

yesterday, i didn't eat anything at night due to me being on the road.. i did on the other hand drink pepsi.. (1st badness) then today, i ate cookie dough and 2 cookies.. :( i really hate it when i do this.. but, have to think positively i guess.. exercise longer tomorrow and eat better.. other than that weight loss is going okay, i think i'll make my challenge. and congrats to everyone for continual effort on their own weight loss. :)

Hey all! I have been taking DEXATRIM since monday and it really works!!! yesterday i forgot to eat luch and dinner! Th pills are designed to make you feel full and it really works! all i ate was breakfast and a snack yesderday and i felt so full all day! try it everyone! it really works!

Howdy all, Good work ever-body!! Cheerful and encouraging resolution to all from your friendly neighborhood newbie. Hope all are well and accomplishing your target. Just checkin in with an update of one measly pound to lose to meet my challenge goal. *climbing the concrete stares almost to the top step…the Rocky theme music building to climax* Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

AROGGGGG!!!!!! stares = stairs

I glad to here that you only have one more pound to meat your challange Jubal. good luck. Oh and dont worry about the spelling my gets so bad that i decided to put a disclaimer in my sig.

Your encouragement is appreciated kiara and thanks for the tolerance of my blooper. Though I continually try to overcome my incompetence concerning spelling, sometimes I really can trip myself up. It wasn’t my greatest subject either. Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

My weekly weigh in is a success. Lost 3, from 302 to 299. Very exciting. This is my first large milestone. I'm looking forward to the next 25. Goal 160 Current 299 Last week 302 Start 322 (02/17/04) I'm shooting for another 2-3 by next Saturday Until then I'll keep moving

Howdy! Please count me in.... I am setting myself a goal of 13 pounds by Easter. The company I started working for has a gym on site so I have joined it. They are open from 5:30am - 10 pm at night..that kind of eliminates any of my excuses for not having time before or after work anymore! I haven't had sodas or sweets since the beginning of December and don't plan to start back with them either. I am eating lots of veggies now that I didn't use to do, but my hardest problem I have is I forget to eat, so my body tries and stores what I do eat.....but I am working on that.

Conrats Kris Keep up the good work. Welcome to the challange echo and good luck. Do you mind if i post your signature in my kitchen Echo. hopefully it will motivate me not to eat sweets. Kiara

Thank you for the welcome Kiara! Please feel free to use my signature, I actually have it on my frig as well.. makes me stop and think twice before you grab a snack  My sweet treats have now been switched to things like: beautiful fresh strawberries dipped in splenda instead of sugar...a golden delicious apple slice with a little bit of peanut butter (good protein). I am actually surprised how easy it is now to say "no, thank you" now at little gatherings when they are passing around the cookies and desserts. But, six months ago I would of gladly said "sure, just leave the whole plate here!" :D

*Taking the last few steps two and three at a time as the last pound slips away, reaching the top and leaping high into the air arms outstretched in victory, the music crescendos “pah pah pah pah pah pah pah pahhhh……Bong! ..Bong! .... Bong,Bong,Bong,Bong!,.. Bong,Bong,Bong,Bong!…Bonggggggggggggg” music fades* Checking in testifying of the melting away of the final lb. and meeting the challenge. “ Adriennnne!!! Adriennnnnnnne!!!” :D :D :D Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

great work! its nice to see everyone doing so well :)

I am standing tough at 136. I guess my diet has been a little sporadic lately. I have been eating pretty much whatever I want to be honest. I have been working out every day though, and this is probably the one thing that has kept me from "gaining" weight (per say) So on this day, I am going back to eating like I should be AND continuing my workouts. Anyhow.. this is where I stand.. I hope everyone here is having continued success with their challenges!

I have done it!! I wanted to lose 10 lbs by Easter and I have as of today!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I am so excited can you tell? One milestone down....keep on going!! Pegster

great job everyone! it's really exciting to see everyone doing so well. :) Maybe at the end of the challenge we should add up all the pounds collectively lost by everyone here? :welcome to echo and kris! pegster.. congrats! it sounds like you are 20 days ahead of schedule.. that is great !!! same thing to you jubal.~hearing rocky theme off in the distance~ queenbee.. its a new week, so just focus on doing better today and tommorrow. i know how it feels to get sidetracked from time to time, but just brushing yourself off and getting back at it is probably the best thing you could do.. i am up to 45 minutes of cardio. i have been adding 5 minutes to my routine every two weeks..

Congratulations to you both, Jubal and Pegster! Enjoyed the effects, Jubal  And Pegster..I am very excited for you!

Congratulations on meeting the challenge 20 days early Pegster!!!!!, you will reach your final objective. Thanks for the encouragement Echo, pixie. Hey queenbee, I once heard a skilful boxer say; it usually isn’t the most talented or qualified that wins the fight, it’s the one with the stamina to still be standing at the end of the final round, pixie gives you great advice. The most notable goals are ones like you have set in challenging yourself pix, we applaud your success! Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

i hope i'm doing this right. and i know i'm starting late but my goal is to lose five pounds to start with

Congrats to all who have made it. Good luck to those still going. We have plenty of time left. Keep fighting the Good fight. Kiara

I'm within 2 pounds so I'm sure I'll make it! Congrats to everyone who has achieved their goals so far!

I am positive you will make it Henrietta and congratulations on your weight loss so far!

Thank you kindly :) I think any of us who make up our mind to do it will do it.

Hello all i'm weighing in today with a final of 168 when i stepped on the scale this morning i'm so happy i made it to my Easter Goal !

I am happy to say my scale was nice to me this morning....down 5 lbs...only 8 more to go for this small goal! *wonders if Mr. Scale is teasing me again* :D Congratulations Brandy at meeting your goal and all others who have also!

Hello, and congratulations on your victory BrandyMck!!! Your right Henrietta, sometimes we set our own limitations or successes by our thinking. 5lbs, already!!! :o phenomenal!!!! Echo, *applauding* A sharp scalp knife might help the attitude of a hostile Mr. Scale too.  Ever-body stay happy and healthy, Jubal

Thanks Echo and Jubal you all are doing great also i'm so proud of myself and the rest of us.Winning the battle in 2004

Nice job everyone :) Great to see so much success going on here :)

Even though Easter is but a few weeks away, I've been stuck at this plateau for a while (floating around 250). Last week, I monitored my food intake via a journal, and discovered that while I'm eating healthy, it's too much. Plus, I'm not exercising enough. Therefore, this week (starting just this past Tuesday), I went on a very low-cal diet (nothing too extreme - about 1000-1500 calories/day). I'm going to record everything I eat, including the times I exercise. I'm also recording my daily weight - and in a matter of just days, it looks like I already dropped 3 pounds! 8O So we'll see if my now strict diet plan works. There's still a few weeks before Easter, so hopefully I can shed at least a few pounds. My main goal, though, is for Memorial Day. That's the unofficial launch of summer. With just 2 months left, I wanted to shed as much weight as I could. Plus, my friends gave me the "gift of clothes" last Christmas. They are going to shop with me. I told them to wait until Memorial Day so I could lose even more weight. I don't want to shop too early. So while I'm still working for the Easter challenge, I've already got my sites set on Memorial Day.

way to go doc! i think that's a great benchmark. the official start of summer is a good time to unveil the new body!

Great to see you, Doc! It sounds as if you are back with a good plan. Memorial Day is always the kickoff off the summer, and it'll be here before you know it. :) Having the added bonus of some new clothes will make it even better :) I'm sure that belt of yours will need to be replaced for sure :)

:D By easter, I would like to lose 5 pounds. I have 100 to lose and I am just starting. I know I can do it!

[quote:2d2a7da560="feathers"]Great to see you, Doc! It sounds as if you are back with a good plan. Memorial Day is always the kickoff off the summer, and it'll be here before you know it. :) Having the added bonus of some new clothes will make it even better :) I'm sure that belt of yours will need to be replaced for sure :)[/quote:2d2a7da560] Thanks! Ya know, I did consider buying a new belt the other week, but eh. ;-) Besides, as I wrote, I want to lose more weight before belt shopping. The belts I examined were still rather large. I'd love to get something for a 40" or smaller waist (like I had so many years ago... heck, I remember when I had a 32" waist - what happened? LOL!). As for my plan... well, I had to do *something* to get me off of this plateau. I can understand not losing any weight during the holidays as I wasn't on a diet. But since then, I've been good with my food. I guess that and my more limited exercise were great to keep me at my current weight. So in the future, I'll know I don't have to starve to maintain a decent weight. However, I want to lose more weight - so I had to shift. Hopefully this'll work. My goal for now is to step on the work scale for three consecutive days and see a number in the 240's! I'm ever so close - the scale this morning read 251.4. I had hit 248 several weeks back, but it was fleeting (next day I was back up to around 253-255) and probably due to my lack of food intake rather than true weight loss.

Thank you Jubal and thanks for the idea...I have just the thing for Mr. Scale...*grins and holds up her "Arizona Toothpick"....Think this will do the trick... :P Soooo...do I see a Memorial Day challenge in the works????? I am all for it!

Way to go Doc! You are so close that the 240's is coming very soon! Keep up the good work!

Is this where I join the challenge?

sure is! you just have to jot down what your gaol is, and what you are going to do to accomplish it! there is still time to join in :)

Yie lassy, fursure you kin be joinin’ the challenge here. *testing the edge of the sharp double edged blade and nodding in approval* That'll make Mr. Scale take caution I’ll grant yuh, but it looks like this har toothpick wuz made in Arkansas huh? Hey Doc, you ever try dividing your day’s menu into six small meals, eating a little every 2 ½ to 3 hrs. Including alota high complex carbs?

Sure is Irishlass, more the merrier! :o

since i'm joining the challenge so late...my goal is fairly small. i plan to cut sodas completely from my diet. i also plan to do some even [u:06841d4fef]any[/u:06841d4fef] sort of exercise every day. just trying to get started!

Yes it was, Jubal. Found it in "Arizona" on an ol' merchant for close to nothing, and of course being a Sackett, can't resist good quality at a bargain price...but, I did toss in a couple of extra coins...didn't want to rip the ol' merchant off for not knowing his blades....thus the new nickname... :P Welcome to the challenge acename!

Oh,…ok Echo  …*looking down and noticing the fancy footwork* :P I include a welcome to the challenge acename

:D Count me in but i will be getting married on apr 17 i will be out of town from apri 8 to the 24. My goal is to loose 10 more pounds :D i will check back with all the great sucess :D Were all winners when we meet our goals :D

a spring wedding.. how exciting :) that is something to look forward to. april is my favorite month. i spent the day walking at the zoo. 3 1/2 hours of walking, mixed in with carrying a 30 pound 2 year old on and off has my legs and arms feeling it, i also got a bit of a sunburn! who would have thought?

Welcome to whats left of the challenge Trish, good luck on your goal, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. 3 ½ hour walk around a zoo here is a mountain walk at about 8,000 ft. and it’s an up and down project start to finish, add 30 lbs of resistance and you have a decathlon :) …I agree with your opinion of april excepting the 15th of course.

Hello all...and as always everyone rocks!! Keep up the excellent work I kinda fell on my face this week with a couple of birthday parties to go to, but all was not lost. I actually did lose 2 pounds. I just didn't do my excercising 3 out of 6 days. YIKES. But I got back on my bike last night. What an easy trap to get into by saying "I'll do it tomorrow!" Drum Roll............................ Current: 297 (03/28/04) Previous Week 299 (03/21/04) Start: 324 (02/16/04) Short Term Goal: 275 by May 30 Long Term Goal: 160 by Next Spring. Have a losing week everyone. Kris :)

This may sound stupid but i have no clue when easter is. I am wiccan and all of the calenders that i own are wiccan so none of them list easter. I entered the challange a while ago and i know that i have post back here on easter so can anyone tell me the exact date of easter. Thanks Kiara

Kiara, This year Easter falls on April 11 (Sunday) Kris

I have another 2 pounds off of me never to be seen again now at 166.

nice job brandy! way to go. what is your ultimate goal?

Great work brandy!!!! Kiara, ...The Council of Nicea (325 AD) established Easter to be celebrated on a Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. It's this way every year.

my ultimate goal is 130 nude lol but i will have to go with 130 dressed in weight watchers

Hi Everyone -- I am a newbie here and still exploring the site, but I think this challenge might be just the way to dive in and get started. I have always struggled with my weight, but am at an all time high (and feeling low!) right now -- somewhere around about 175. I haven't even checked that lately either, too depressing. However, must face the music! Easter is right around the corner, but my birthday is even sooner: Tomorrow! I will weigh myself tomorrow morning and post that weight. My goal is to eventually get below 140 (135 would be super) and especially to get HEALTHY and in better shape. My husband and I would like to start trying to get pregnant, and I really want to feel confident and helathy in my body before I start THAT particular challenge. SO, before Easter (in two weeks) I will commit to exercising every day for at least 20 minutes and recording what I eat to build my own awareness of my eating habits.

nice to have you join us rosycheeks! happy birthday to you! how old are you going to be?

Thanks, PixieChic. I will be 37 and feeling every minute of it right now, I'm afraid.

37 is a great age to get in shape. A lot of people find themselves in the same boat as you. It's definitely a great goal to improve your health in every way possible. Good luck to you.

don't be afraid. tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life :) there is everything to gain by getting healthier, especially if you are trying to have a baby. the healthier you are, the healthier your baby will be. if you have been avoiding the scale, don't get upset. maybe even wait til the day after your birthday if you think it might stress you out. if you haven't weighed in some time, 24 hours more won't matter. have a happy day :)

[/color:3379d782aa]hiya! my goal is to go to the new gym and stick to it 3 X's a week. I aim to avoid white chocolate that is in the isles and to eat my vegie bits in the fridge if I urge sugar or salts. I aim to avoid the easter bunnies treats as it is a weakness as kriptonite was to superman  I aim to lose 2 lbs and to drink more water and natural fruit juice.

Well. I just saw the challenge today. Apparently i'm a bit late. I'm 306, short term goal is 380, Long term goal is 135. Since it is March 30 today, that gives me just over two weeks til Easter... So my goal will be ten pounds. I'll accomplish this by eating better and exercising 3-4 times a week. Good luck, everyone!

I will commit to lose 5 pounds in 12 days

Happy Birthday to MEEEEEE!!!! And my birthday gift to myself is to start my new healthy lifestyle today. I weighed in at 173lbs ( afew less than I thought!) and I am aiming for 135 eventually, and 145 by mid-July (when we leave on holiday). I know I'll have to work hard, but I feel motivated. Today IS the first day of the rest of my life! (Thankd, Pixie!) :D

Happy birthday rosycheeks and good wishes touching everything you accomplish the rest of your life!!! :D :D Welcome!!! to all the new newcomers to the challenge!!!! :D :D

BTW, dropped 2 more lbs...total 17 now :)

Congrats Jubal and Keep up the good work Kiara

Thank you for the encouragement kiara, I do my best. To be honest tho loosing weight isn’t my goal, good health is tho and the weight drop is an amenity of that goal... :)

It is good that improving your health is your primary goal. It can become dagerous for someone to become obsessed with losing weight, they might not know when to stop. Keep focused on becoming healthy ad i know that you can do it. Kiara

Great Job everyone :) It is really great to see everyone doing so well. There are 9 days left to reach your goals, so keep your eyes on the prize! Have a happy and healthy day!

I'm going to try to drink more water, since I don't really drink any water and i'm also going to try to lose at least 6 lbs by Easter Sunday. Not to much time left, but i'll give it a try. At least if I lose something, it will motivate me to keep working on it. Good luck everyone!

Losing a few pounds is always a great motivation to lose more. Good luck. Kiara

Thanks Kiara! I hope I can lose the weight..I want to look good for my birthday and i've been trying for years. My sister suggested I buy a book on the South Beach Diet, she's been on it for sometime and it's been working for her, so maybe it will work for me. Current weight: 198 Goal weight: 140 Goal date: My birthday, August 18th I'll keep you posted on my progress! :)

welcome to the challenge, bella! the good thing is that august is some time away! i'll bet you can get into the shape that you want before then.. good luck to you, and looking forward to your updates :)

Thanks Pixie.... I look forward to getting into shape by August. As for Easter, my goal is to lose at least 5-6 lbs by then...but this means i've got to work hard because Easter is just a few days away. Even if I only lose 2-3 lbs, it's a start and it will help me to keep going. Lots of luck to everyone else and i'm sure we can all do it and reach our goals as long as we stick with it. :)

getting started is often the key. once you get going, it starts to feel so good that you don't know why you waited so long :) i can't believe that easter is just around the corner, it seems like just yesterday we were bringing in the new year! summer will be here before we know it, too. but that doesn't mean that you won't be able to get into fine shape before your next birthday. how old will you be?

omg... i'm going to be 29, I can't believe i'm getting close to the 30 mark....hehehee, I just want to get back into shape. I don't want to be 30 and be so tired that I can't have fun. I'm a mother of three wonderful kids, but half the time because of my weight i'm always so exhausted and don't have time to play around with them. I used to love playing with my kids and now I get tired to quickly. They are my incentive to get this challenge on the go.... I'm going to do this as much for me as for them. They need to have their energetic mom back and i'm prepared to be that person again.

sounds like you are ready to get this underway. do you have a gym membership or are you going to do this at home?

Kids are a great motivation but it is very importent that you do this for yourself. Good Luck Kiara

No, I don't have a gym membership, all the gyms around me want you to commit to them for a year or more and I just don't have that much time on my hands. Therefore, i'm going to do this at home, daily walks, sometimes jog and the South Beach Diet, i think it just might work. As for doing this for myself, it is most definitely for me, I want to be able to have more energy so I can spend time with my kids and have fun with them again. I want to look good for my birthday and I want to fee good about myself and not worry if the dress will look good on me or not.

In the long run the only person you can lose weight for is yourself.

The Challange only has a couple of more days. Lets all finish strong. Good Luck Kiara

You're right about that, kiara :) There are just a few more days to get it done. Then everyone involved will need to "check-in" on Easter Sunday and let us know how they did.. ..then it will be time for the drawing..**hearing drumroll in the distance** and the lucky winners are...

Kudos to everyone for such great work...3 pounds to my easter goal. I hit a plateau. I've been sitting at the same level for two weeks. Rather discouraging at very short moments. But then I think Rome wasn't built in a day & I didn't gain all of this excess weight overnight. There are bound to be bumps along the way. So I went out and bought a treadmill to mix up my exercises. I've increased my workout time from 30min x 6 days to 45min x 6. I got on the scale this morning and viola...1/2 lb down. Yeah!!!! it's moving again. Hopefully the scale will move down another three by Saturday. Actually, I'm sure it will. Side question...I've heard that vitamin C is a slight boost to the metabolism. Any thoughts from anyone? Happy Easter to everyone and keep up the great work. current: 297 easter goal: 295 may 29 goal: 275 March 2005 goal: 160

Hi kris, This is a metabolism booster I learned about many years ago, I have used it many times to slim down after holidays and such. You divide your daily menu into six small portions, eating some of it every two to three hours. Add a lot of fruit like apples and bananas to your daily menu and don’t eat anything after 8PM. This is a trick used by some athletes to meet a weight limit; weightlifters, boxers, etc. Bodybuilders also use it to get that cut look before competition. An advantage of this technique is you loose weight but retain energy and stamina because you don’t starve yourself, also you don’t ever feel hungry. Above all it works dramatically by boosting your metabolism. Welcome to all the new challenge entries, and congratulations to all who have achieved your goal for Easter!! O’l Jube has lost 19 lbs so far this challenge. :) :)

Sorry to say I gained 1 1/2 pounds (now at 152.5) since I first started this challenge. Had my good moments and then my bad. Have to get back on the horse and start being good again. Going for a stress test on Monday, so no caffeine or chocolate tomorrow. Getting on the treadmill and seeing what kind of shape I'm in should get me back on the right track again! Congratulations to all who lost weight! Happy Easter!

Checking in. Goal--to increase my water intake to 80oz a day I met my goal and past it. i now drink 112oz of water a day. As a result the water increase has helped me to lose about 10 lbs. Congrats to all who have met there goal. Kiara
