:?: I have been havinga problem lately with hunger I mean I feel hungry even if I eat its getting ridiculous I dont want to eat and have been drinking no cal tea and water till I feel bloated but it isnt helping withthe hunger anyone have any suggestions I am sticking to about 1000-1200 cals a day and trying to remember to take the carb blockers whenever I eat carbs though I do let a few slip thur so I get the nutrition... I cant fall off the diet wagon now I really cant I want to succeed this time for me and no one else I want to see if I am really disabled or if it is just me weight like they have told me for years i know this seems silly but even though I know from xrays and tests and such that i am disabled I want to see if losing weight makes it all go away or if its too late for me. sorry for rambling but this is really bothering me and I need to find an answer I cant take any OTC"diet" pills they have a bad effect on me though the carb blocker doesnt. take care all and have a great day and keep up the GREAT WORK you allare doing and the magnificent changes you are making in your life! yours Lady D

no, that's not just you. everyone gets hungry or at least cravings on a low calorie diet. its especially true if you aren't getting out much. if you concentrate on being hungry, then you will be even more hungry before long. maybe your doctor could prescibe you something safe to help with the hunger pangs if it gets to be too much to bear.

chew gum that helps me . also stay away from the kitchen keep busy before you know it the hunger pains will pass .

BigBoy's advice is good. You might even want to try some appetite suppressants that you can buy at your local drug store. They might help fight off cravings. But don't worry - we all get cravings and we all eat sometimes when we shouldn't. Your body has to get used to the lower food intake. Another trick is to do some exercise. I find when I exercise, my appetite decreases. So do as much as your body will tolerate. Good luck!

Let's face it: getting hungry is the one thing every dieter is going to face! And it's not always easy to grit it out but it's worth it.

what does your diet consist of exactly? how many calories a day (about) were you eating before dieting? if you have dropped a considerable amount of calories, it's natural to feel hungry. are you exercising at all?

what does your diet consist of exactly? LOTS of Veggies and extra lean ground beef and turkey(burgers) garden burgers tuna etc not heavy on fruits though I just dont think about eating them too often but when I do I sorta binge on them :)) how many calories a day (about) were you eating before dieting? I dont really know but I was over 350 lbs and still gaining and decided when I saw pictures of myself last march that I wasa fat pig and needed to take real serious steps to lose this fat finally I have been over weight since kinderagrten and I am now 46 so all my life.... Now I eat from 500-1500 I have been doing this since march and I have lost over 50 lbs so far I dont deny myself anythign but I am getting great at finding foods made with splenda if you have dropped a considerable amount of calories, it's natural to feel hungry. and this hunger feeling isnt really hunger it tends to hit me after I have eaten not when I am not eating in the hours or so after I eat I also try very hard to eat cholestrol free foods and fat free foods and sugar free foods when ever possible Yes I do attempt all at once and succeed a lot of the time! are you exercising at all? I have to say NO to this one for me just walking across the floor and getting in and out of a sitting position are a lot of exercise for me see I have 3 forms of arthritis and I also have 2 areas of my back (spine ) where I have stenosis and the bone growth is pressing on nerves so basicly nearly every movement I make causes me pain in either my left arm from shoulder to elbow or in my left leg and buttocks..... had to shovel on wednesday and I am still in unbleliveable pain i am often in tears cause of the pain. huggles LadyD

the arthritis has to make it tougher. but it sounds like you are getting the job done. keep up the good work!

Sometimes, when you drop your calories that low, after a while your body feels hugry like that because it is telling you that it needs more calories to be able to sustain itself properly and effectively. You should look up your BMR-Basal Metabolic Rate, it tells you how many calories your body needs just to exist. It is based on age weight and height. Here is a good site to look that up:www.ifcinc.com/calculators/bmr.htm That should help you. :)

thank you for the site but COME ON the amount of calories the say one should eat is outragious!! for me at 46yrs,65in,302# it calculates I should eat 2054 now seriously if I ate that much I would not loos a ounce! even for my granddaughter whois 3 ,38in30# it says 959 base and with plaYING 3350 I dont know how they calculate these amounts b ut MY god they seems ridiclous to me but that is only my humble opinion If someone can expalin to me how eating an enormous amount of caloreis can help you loose weight I would appreciate it and I finally fo8und out what the hungery is I have cut sooo much sugar and carbs and fat and salt out of my diet that my blood sugar was dipping very very low(30-45) thus making me hungry now I try and eat a little bit of regular food at each meal.... again thanhks a lot for the site it at least give me a ball park of how high NOT to go!! :D

That is the amount your body needs to maintain your current weight. Subtract 500 from that total to lose 1 lb. per week(which is the safest amount) because 1 lb equals 3500 calories and cutting 500 per day equals 3500 at the end of the week. It isn't totally accurate but it puts you in the ball park. Plus children do need many more calories because they are always moving and growing. It was just a suggetion.

hi ladyd. eat as healthy as you can. it is never a bad idea to eat many small meals a day, this will help to assure that your blood sugar doesn't fall to low levels. if you suffer from arthritis, water therapy may be a way to get some exercise without causing stress to your body. it doesn't put stress on your knees, hips or ankles, and is a good way to start exercising.
