of course exercise is the key. the whole reason people are fat is because their metabolism is slow for some reason and their calorie consumption is too high. people who try to diet without exercise often fail. it requires the workout. you need to get your metabolic rate to increase so you burn calories while resting. if you're in shape, you don't have to be nearly as obsessed about food as a "dieter".
Of course it's the key! Without exercise you have no chance of losing weight.
By using my BowFlex steadily from Aug.-Dec., I was able to put on muscle. I'm not ripped or anything even remotely like it - but that extra muscle has allowed me to eat some "bad" foods without too much worry of gaining weight. In fact, at times I can eat something like pizza and not even feel full or bloated, which contrasts how I felt before (of course, I also eat far healthier pizza - low cheese and lots of sauce, but that's another topic). In other words, I think by exercising, I have built up muscles that have allowed me to eat more food!! As odd as this might sound, exercise may allow you to eat more yet still lose weight! :D I realize it's tough exercising - I've really had to push myself this month. I have exercised a fraction of what I was doing. But I'm slowly getting back into the rhythm. Once you get yourself going, you'll want to exercise and you might even feel guilty not doing it. I recommend having different types of exercise. I use my BowFlex, my stationary bike and I walk. On days when it's very cold (like most of this month), walking isn't possible (as I go with my dog and it's just too cold for him). But I have several other ways to exercise. By having different options, if one exercise routine is no longer possible due to injury or weather, you have other options. Plus, it gives you variety. As such, your reasons for not exercising are limited and you won't stop completely. Find exercises you LIKE (that's key - if you hate running, don't run as you won't do it for long) and work them into your schedule. You'll see results soon enough. Good luck! :D
so far i've been able to make exercise a habit. if i can keep it up and get it totally ingrained, i will probably get stuck doing it for a long time. i've always been a creature of habit so exercising is a good one i can actually look forward to getting hooked on :)
When I made exercise a part of my routine it became totally addicting. I go to school during the day and work evenings 2-4 days a week. When I don't get a chance to work out I feel tired and bloated. I usually can't wait to get back to the gym and get my energy levels up again. Once you get into a routine your comfortable with its hard to go back to not exercising, which is a good thing :D
You are right about that. I have been working out 3 days on and 1 day off for about a month. I've been doing it early in the morning because after the workday I never went (or felt like going) this kept on amounting to "failure" in my mind. Instead of accepting "failure" I decided to change things around. Since I'm more productive early in the day, I made it the first thing I do most mornings. It gives me a better attitude for the whole day if that makes any sense to you.. Glad to hear that you are doing well Guerra. Keep up the good work :)
:P
Ok, here in New Zealand, we have this cereal called Nutri-grain (not sure if u have in in america...) and there's this thing called the Nutri-grain Six Week challenge. Its an exercise program that has 3 training days a week, and one test day. Its not really a weight loss program, its mainly to improve your stamina, but the exercises in it are good. The nutrition is bad though, dont listen to it! If you wanna check it out, and maybe give it a go, go to: www.nutrigrain.com Im starting the six week challenge next week, as my ready-made exercise program! Hopefully i stick to it :D
watching the commercial is better than excercising! ;)
you are definitly right about having to exercise, but you need diet too. I guess its all about finding the balance. I also never try those 6 week challenges, especially with food, because a lot of the time you don't get enough variety, but if it works, then go for it!! Good Luck Everyone!!
For 'excercise', read 'activity' You need to alter your lifestyle to be more active. It doesn't need any special purchases. Same goes for food. Healthy food is readily available, and doesn't need to be searched out, or bought from any special store. The point is, if you use more energy than you consume, you will loose weight. If you consume more than you use, you gain weight! Ideally, the answer is to be more active, and eat a sensible diet. Believe it or not, this doesn't mean being hungry all the time, and working out for hours every day.
