i'm in. my goal is to lose 5 pounds by valentines day. i gained a bit over the holidays, but nothing too bad. i decided not to get upset about it because i indulged a little over the holidays. time to get back at it! maybe kirliaska will join in this one..
Me too, Me too. :) I want to see the start of a six pack ab by Valentines Day. That would mean taking off about 10 pounds in my midsection. Lets see if it can be done :)
Yay for Doc in creating this new challenge! Now that school's back in and I am returning to my "real" schedule its time for a boost! I am 152 lbs now and I am shooting to be 142 or lower by Vday! And I want to loose some inches all around...that way I can get a sexy new outfit for my hunny! ANYWAY! Good luck to everyone and lets keep each other motivated!
I can see doing another 8 pounds by then. I have been pretty commited. So far 2004 has been real good for me for weight loss!
I'm aiming to lose another 6-8 lbs. by valentines day. EllieFunt
Then let's do it! I'm off to a good start. I finally decided that I couldn't make excuses to skip the gym anymore. The days are so short, and after dinner and everything, the last thing I want to do is work out. BUT... I wake up every morning at about 5:45. So the last 2 mornings I have been at the gym at 6am to assure I can't make excuses to stay home at night. I also went on Sunday, so thats 3 days on, tommorrow off, and then back at it Thursday. No one can take it away from you if it's the very first thing you do in a day. :)
good idea, QB. glad to hear things are "working out" (no pun intended :) ) for you! that is one surefire way to not make excuses!
Happy to report that despite near blizzard like conditions, I got to the gym today (just as I said I would) and got in a nice 23 minutes on the elliptical trainer, and then some weight lifting so my day concerning exercise has been a success by 7:00 am. I know there is no way to make an excuse for not going later..

I returned from holiday last Wed. I have walked 3x (~2 miles each time with uphill sections), rode my exercise bike once (30 minutes) and lifted weights for a scant 10 minutes. When I returned last week, I knew that after a few weeks off, I'd need some time to get back into regular exercise mode. Unfortunately, this past Monday, I fell and hurt my wrists (as I landed on my hands). So that delayed me getting back to a full work out routine. Despite my slight injuries, I really just feel tired in the morning and in the evening! I'm hoping to shake this feeling VERY soon so I too can resume my work outs as usual. You are an inspiration to us all! Great work! :)
Thanks for the kudos! I weighed in today at 135. I haven't weighed in since before Christmas because I knew I put on weight, clothes feeling a little 'clingier' :) than I like. I'm back at it with a vengence! I have felt a lot more "alive" this last week, if that makes any sense. I felt REALLY draggy myself til this past week, I really dreaded getting back at it. (That's the reason I put if off for so long) but now that I'm back doing it I feel better. I look forward to getting it done first thing. That way even if I have a bad day, I still did my exercise! Not too many people are working out first thing in the morning either. When I was going at night, the machines would be busy during "prime time" and you might have to wait. Not so at 6 am. This has given me a boost in energy and the determination to finish my goals once and for all :)
i have achieved a new pre-christmas low! i have been doing the elliptical trainer consistently. my energy levels are up! i have results! if this keeps up i may accomplish something this time.
I am in! I want to lose 10 pounds by valentines day too. I am new at this...so hopefully I will be able to do it. It's great to see everyone supporting each other!
way to go i knowican! i know you can too. i'm not sure what's happening but in 2004 i am working out, not making excuses, being strict with the diet and the results have been just fantastic. usually in january i mope around and whine about the weather while indulging in "comfort food" while lamenting my fatness. not now! now i realize that i can totally control my destiny this year! i hope everyone joins me in giving it your best effort this year! we can all do it.
Nice to have you join in the challenge! I am happy to report that I have stayed true to my workouts! When I worked out Friday, I got a minor back injury, but instead of making an excuse to skip my workout Saturday, I modified it. Instead of getting on a cross trainer, I hit the pool and swam some laps and then hit the hot tub to loosen up. It makes me feel great that I did this, because I could have just as easily made an excuse not to go. I weighed in this morning at 130.5, so I have made some headway again. I hope that everyone else has got a winning attitude :)
great job everyone! there is still a lot of time to "make it to the finish line" i haven't got on a scale lately, but have been doing my step machine a few times a day, and adding a bit of light weight lifting so i can find some muscle tone.. keep up the good work :)
Did my workout this morning. This is by far the best run I have had in a while as far as diet AND exercise goes. The scales are reading about the same, but I'm forgetting about that. This is my 4th set of 6am workouts.:) Hope to hear how everyone else is doing :!:
way to go! its not as hard as it looks. exercise is like anything else, just make a habit of it rather than act like its a big deal.
Am hoping to lose 5 pounds by Valentine's day. My husband says if I do it, he'll send me a dozen yellow roses! Now that's some incentive for me!
Nothing quite like a beautiful dozen roses this time of the year.. You can do it Anndoodle.. :)
5 pounds between now and valentine's! now that should be easy! your husband just lost that bet :)
2 weeks ago I made a goal for myself to lose 6 pounds by Valentine's day I lost 5 pounds :) but i gained 3 back :( . Hopefully I can pull it together and lose those last 3 pounds!
3 pounds more? you can do it for sure!
You've got plenty of time! Now you just need to get moving. :) Made it to my 6 am workout, went 25 minutes on the cross trainer and did 3 sets of upper body. My scale has remained in a "stuck" position for the last few days, but I know that I have been eating OK AND exercising the most consistantly ever, so I'm not fretting it. I will weigh in this Friday AM with how I am doing Hope everyone will join me!
Scale has not moved a bit. 134 is what it says. It is hard not to get frustrated when you are doing all the right things and the scale isn't cooperating with you. Today is my day 'off' from working out, and I have been making it to the gym without failing. I have been to the gym a total of 15 times for the month of January, so this is the most dedicated I've been in a while.. I'm going to chalk it up to muscle weighs more fat, and not whine about it. What else is there to do?
when the heck is valentine's day anyway?
this saturday.. ..still abit of time for you to reach your goals..
i shall!
I will reach mine! 2004 is my year so far!
[quote:0235dce92e="BigBoy"]when the heck is valentine's day anyway?[/quote:0235dce92e] I thought you were married BigBoy! If you are, you better learn when Valentine's Day is - and FAST! LOL! Trust me, if you forget this holiday, either your wife/girlfriend/significant other is a saint or she is from a country that never celebrated it. From my experiences, most women enjoy at least a little *something* on that day (as it is a day of "love").
i was just seeing who was paying attention! :P
I haven't done very well on reaching my goals. January was a "blah" month for me. I ate foods I didn't eat (for the most part) from Aug.-Dec. and I didn't exercise as much. However, at least I didn't gain any weight either (or if I did, it was but a few pounds). Now that it's Feb. and the days are getting longer, I'm starting to get back into the good habits I had. I still tend to nibble and eat food I shouldn't, but I'm working on getting back to saying "no" to the "bad" foods again. Plus, I'm working out more. This morning, I did a real work out, the first time I did an extended work out in the morning (i.e., a good 40 minutes) since before the holidays!! So while I will not reach my Valentine's Day goal, at least I am finally getting back on track. Plus, I learned that once I reach my ideal weight, I can eat more "normal" items with less demanding workouts yet still maintain my weight. :D
i sort of figured you may have faded for a second doc! look. january is a long month. 31 days. for people in the midwest and the northeast january is a very long month! its tough to get motivated in the blistering cold weather especially after coming off the holidays. but you may as well consider it a victory. despite the fact you didn't lose any weight you also didn't gain any. that has you closer rather than further from your goal. now get humping on that bowflex and get back on track! :P
Good to see you back! The sooner you get with it, the easier it gets. Kind of like "riding a bicycle" as the saying goes :) I haven't lost much weight myself, but I have been CONSISTENTLY exercising since about the middle of January. It makes a world of difference.
Thanks! :) It's not like I suddenly started eating Big Macs (blech!) or never exercised. I just wasn't as "ferocious" about it as I was in Aug.-Nov. I allowed myself to have pizza (even had some last night!) and a token hamburger (at a real restaurant); plus I didn't work out as regularly - sometimes just once or twice a week. But this showed me that I can maintain my weight eating healthy overall and at least doing some exercise. Of course, I'm not in a maintenance mode - I'm trying to lose weight! Therefore, I have to forego those pizzas and work out more. And while we'll get a cold spell this weekend, with the longer days, I'm sure I'll be getting back on track very soon. Thanks for your support! :)
Happy Valentines Day everyone! I weighed in this morning at 135. The same as it has been. I'm not griping or complaining, but kinda frustrated. I've been exercising every day, but the *weight* I have to lose isn't going anywhere. My diet isn't too out of whack, but I guess I haven't been calories at all either. My gym opens in about a half an hour, so time to get back at it..
I guess my Valentine's Day Challenge was to get myself back into a workout mode after the holidays. And finally, I succeeded! Yay! I've been doing very well the past few days, so I have a feeling, things will pick up from here. Plus, I'm motivated. My friends are gone for a while. One is with her little son in Malaysia visiting family. She will return in a month. I'd love to have her return and see an even thinner me! So that's my motivation! I think I was lacking that motivation after the holidays. I worked hard to lose weight so I'd look good for family and friends for Christmas. I didn't have that motivation in January - now it has returned. So I guess it's time to set-up the next challenge. St. Patrick's Day???
we can get ready for the 4th of july challenge! whatever happened to the queen of "challanges"? hopefully she didn't fall off the wagon completely. its good to see you back at it doc! the beach is still many many months away. imagine the feeling of pride you will get when the women have to literally pick their tongues off the beach and wipe off the sand after you walk by! time to blast those pecs!
but I still think I did it. I think I've lost about 5 lbs. since I posted back in September which brings me to an overall loss of 20 lbs. since Thanksgiving! :D I'm pretty proud of myself. My hubby announced last night that he's sending me for a massage this week for my great efforts! Which will be pretty great to get! Look out 4th of July! I can't wait to see how we all do. Ellie
It'll be summer! Time to start setting some long term goals for the sun!
I made my goal of 6 lbs by Valentines Day! I'm really proud of myself, my next goal is 5 more pounds by my birthday at the beginning of March. Yay! :D
excellent job, guerra! glad to hear you made your goal.. that is wonderful! same goes for everyone else here. way to go! i fell just short but not far from my goal. as for kirliaskia, i'm not sure what happened to her :?:
way to go guerra and elliefunt! you can add my name to the list of valentine challenge award winners! :) i'm thinking of eating a cake to celebrate. :P
4th of July is too far for me. How about an Easter challenge? (It will help keep me away from those chocolate bunnies!) Jen
I completely forgot about those evil little chocolate bunnies! I agree, an Easter challenge would be good. Ellie
when is easter? these darn holidays always seem to come one after another! i'll be a part of an easter challenge :)
how about we have a March Madness challenge too? its not like they cost us anything :)
St. Patricks Day is March 17th. That gives us 1 month from today. I'm going to try for another 5 lbs. (I guess I'll have to forget about my green beer) :( Then Easter is April 11th. EllieFunt
Congratulations to everyone who made their goals! That is great work!
