I would love to talk to you more about this. I have the same problems and have been unable to fins a doc who knows what is going on. I also have other problems. I ahve been on Atkins since late October and have only lost 25 pounds - and I am on induction levels. PLEASE respond and let me know where I can contact you - would love to compare stories. Paula
Boy, never heard of the hands and feet swelling! That would get old quick.
This could be an issue of being hyperglycemic or having hyperinsulin levels. These could lead to your feet and hands swelling as well - if you overeat on sugar. Diet - as you are doing - is one way to control this. There may also be medicines available. How good is your doctor? Has he/she run all of the appropriate blood work tests? You may want to get a "second opinion". Doctors can and do miss things. As for your weight loss, 25 pounds since October is great! I'm not sure how much you wanted to lose, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes people have bursts of weight loss. I lost a lot of weight quickly in a few months. Then it slowed down. Some of this was because of me (how much I exercised, what I ate) and some of it was due to my natural body cycles. One can't have maintain a high weight loss forever - the body will adjust. I may have to revamp my program to resume a fast weight loss mode again. In your case, while the low-carb diet is good, you may also want to incorporate more exercise, less caffeine, and less fattening foods (more vegetables, for example). As I have no idea about your weight, weight loss goals or your diet/exercise routines, I'm only making these rather vague suggestions. You know yourself best - so do what works for you. Good luck! :D
marymoo-- are you on any birthcontrol, like the pill or patch? i have read that being on birth control can make you sensitive to carbohydrates. i wish i had the link :( if i find it i will post it here!!!
