Hi! I'm new here and I really need to lose weight. I am soon starting training for a walking marathon next year in Bermuda and want to lose weight as well. I participated last year in the Vancouver Marathon but have put on some pounds since then :cry: I do a lot of walking and like to walk as it is a cheap form of exercise. I'd like some ideas on how to lose weight and have fun doing it. I'm not a big sweets person (nanimo bars get me tho) but just cant seem to lose and keep it off. In a couple of weeks I am starting a Healthy Weight class at a local store that goes for 10 weeks so hope to learn something there. If anyone has any ideas for me let me know and also if you have any ideas on fundraising for my marathon (I have to raise $5500 for the Diabetes Assoc) let me know those as well Poopsie :wink:


Hi poopsie good luck with your marathon...when my son went to quebec last year we had a beer bottle drive. All you need is a sunny afternoon and a couple trucks! Let me tell you we raised a ton of money about 600.00 dollars and we had 4 trucks out for 1 hour. The big time consumption was returning them all. (we actually phoned the brewers retail ahead of time to warn them.) Most people have old empties laying around and don't mind gettting rid of them. Also people who came to the brewers retail at the time we were turning in empties would dontate theirs to us!

hello and welcome aboard. if you already like walking that will be a definite plus. you may want to carry some weights and maybe speed up your pace a bit. that will defintely be a boost to your weight loss efforts.
