definitely. keep a food journal and take pictures of yourself. keeping good records is the only way to know that you are actually making progress. the pictures will inspire you to lose more weight. the journal will force you to figure out what you're eating that is causing weight gain. and remember not to get discouraged. weight loss takes a long time, especially if you have a great amount to lose, but it is totally worth it because it gives you so much additional pride.
Drink lots of water, too! A lot of times when you think you are hungry, you are actually just thirsty! It's recommended that everyone drinks 64 ounces of water a day. (That would be a gallon of water.) It may sound like a lot at first, but considering 3 20 ounce soft drinks is about equal to this, it isn't that hard to do! Nice to meet you:)
Just a slight comment on your post QueenBee.... 64 oz. is a HALF-gallon 128 oz. is a full gallon 32 oz. is a quart 16 oz. is a pint 8 oz. is a cup 16 oz. is also one pound. So if you drink 20 oz. of water, that's over a pound. People forget that food and beverages have weight - so after eating and drinking, you will gain some weight (drink 16 oz. of water, expect to weigh a pound more). Hence why it's best to weigh yourself only once a day, first thing in the morning, completely unclothed if possible. These daily weighings help you monitor any unusual weight gains or losses. Also, salty foods will retain water. So if you have some salty foods one evening (like pretzels), even though it might be very low in calories, don't be surprised if your weight doesn't go down - or even goes up! After the salt has passed from your system, your weight will drop. Good luck to you, sillysneeze!
**blushing with embarrassment** I stand corrected! Thanks for clearing me up on that one Doc!
