i don't know if you'll be able to get it done by christmas, but for sure you should be able to get things under way. are you doing any sort of exercise at this time?
You don't have too far to go. So probably if you just start exercising or revamp what you are currently doing, drink lots of water, and cut some excess calories (I found I drank a lot of calories and didn't even realize it for a long time), you would probably start dropping pounds.
Not yet. I'd like something simple. I hate to exercise. It was basically a job for so long that I'm completely burned out. I was thinking stationary bike, pilates, and some light weight training. My bf is a tennis pro, and I played through college so we're both trying to get back in shape and lose our his and her bellies. We're gonna also try cutting carbs in half and doing x-amount of sit-ups and x-amount of push ups each night and see if that works.
Sadly, I found that exercise is key to losing weight. But for someone like yourselves, all that you described should be enough. The goal is to do *something* rather than nothing. As for diet, if you try to eliminate pure sugar, like that from soda, cookies, cakes, etc., that will be a huge help. Eating bread (especially whole grain breads) is fine - just watch the sugar content. You'd be surprised how fast your carb count goes up there! I packet of sugar has 4g of carbs alone - so you can only imagine how many are in a big cookie. I also recommend cutting all trans fat (like that found in margarine and in cooling oils that make things like fries at fast food places) and many saturated fats. Having some butter and whole cream is fine - just don't go crazy. The best thing about saturated fats is that the body can turn them into mono-unsaturated fats, which you want. Try to get your fats from nuts, olive oil and some meats (like tuna). Making just some minor changes in your diet and doing some exercise might be all you need to drop those 15 pounds - and you'll be doing it in a healthy manner.
