 NO EASY ANSWERS I GUESS.I AM 50 YR OLD WOMAN AND I AM TYPE 2 DIABETIC.STARTED ON ATKINS AND BROUGHT SUGAR DOWN TO NORMAL RANGE NOW DOC SAYS DIABETICS CAN NOT DO NO CARBS TO DO LIVER OR KIDNEY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CHOLESTEROL.DOES ANYONE KNOW A COMBINATION THAT HAS IT ALL THANKS DARLENE :(

[color=darkblue:a10da89942]I am also a diabetic and lost 50 pounds in 6 months. I used the Atkins diet with my doctors supervision. He did routine blood tests to ensure that I did not start to develop any health problems, my lab values kept getting better. Another thing that I did was hard core Atkins for 3 weeks and then I would do no more than 100 grams (diabetic diet) of carbs a day for a week (just to give my body a break) and then back to 20-40 carbs per day for another 3 weeks. I have maintained my weight quite well for over a year on the diabetic diet alone. I recently decided to lose some more for vanity reasons (body sculpting) and my doctor is so supportive of my efforts. It is hard to find a good doctor, if you like the one you are with ask him/her to monitor your health and stop you only if it is truly a matter of a significant health change. I would find a doctor that will help you, not hinder you. Good luck with whatever you decide and do't hesitate to contact me for any more information or support. [/color:a10da89942]

Having a Doctor that supports you is a big difference. Happytoes, when he told you the things "you couldn't do" did he happen to offer any suggestions on what you should do?

HeatherAnn.. Congrats to you on your 50 pound loss. That is excellent! You must feel soooo much better..
