Hi All: I stumbled onto this website by accident, and I was sure glad. It looks like it is going to be fun and informative as well as supportive. I am a 66 year old great grandmother, who ballooned up to 215 when I retired and quit smoking. I started losing weight last summer and am down to 173, where I have been since late last summer. I do have a swimming pool, but this year it has never warmed up enough for me to spend much time in there. We are looking into some kind of heater for it though. I enjoy paddling back and forth, and I believe it helped me lose most of the weight last year, as our temps were way over 100 and the pool was really warm. Anyhow I am glad I found y'all. Jan

hello jan and welcome aboard. you have already done two very good things. first you stopped smoking which for sure is a killer and then you lost a good bit of the weight you gained! pretty good over all! if the weather where you live is not too great you may want to look around for a health club or YMCA membership in your area. that way they will have a heated indoor pool for you to use. you could also start some in water exercises. anywho, welcome :)

Hello Jan! This is getting fun being the welcome wagon. Welcome aboard!

Hello Jan and welcome! Not a bad place to stumble upon! We hope that you enjoy our little community here. Congrats on quitting the smokes.. I lost my to grandmother to them in 1999.. she was 73. I won't go into that too much, but anytime a person quits smoking, it is a display of strength. If you can quit this deadly habit, you can conquer your weight, too...

Hello Jan! Good to meet ya! 8O

Hello Jan! Welcome! :D You are right about one thing.. the weather hasn't been very good for hanging around the pool here, either. Have you ever used any kind of water exercise equipment to enhance your swim? You can use them for resistance to build muscle. Water exercise is nice because it doesn't impact on your joints, not to mention how refreshing it can be!

Here is a link to some water exercise stuff in case you are interested. www.worldwideaquatics.com

Gee, thanks for all the welcoming messages and good information. I have been too cheap to buy any of the stuff for exercising in the pool, I haven't found a discount outlet for it yet. The water noodles alone cost about $10.00 here. I keep looking though. I will try the website for sure though. Thanks a bunch. Jan

hello Jan! I enjoy saying "hello" so I thought I'd drop in :)

Hi Jan.. like the Granny!!
