I'm sure their lawyers told them to put some "healthy choices" on the menu.
When I was dieting back in 1995, I was able to eat at Wendy's in a similar manner. I'd order their broiled chicken sandwich, but with mustard, not mayonnaise. Instead of fries, I'd get a salad with low-fat or fat-free dressing. Back then, I still drank Diet Coke a lot, but that was far better than regular Coke. The meal was filling, yet healthy. So I know it is possible to eat healthy at fast-food places. It just takes a bit of work (asking for substitutions or eliminating items). That said, for my current diet, I don't think I've gone to a fast-food place once. I have recently allowed myself some Halloween candy (tough to resist it all!), some alcohol (3 drinks spread out over a week) and even things like a vegetable lasagna (only ate half the order - saved the other half for another meal). I figure by allowing myself some treats and more "normal" food, it'll make me stick to my diet longer. Plus, ultimately, I would like to be able to return to eating in restaurants and enjoying a few drinks. In other words, I need to learn how to order and how to eat these items now. This way, I won't overeat or order something unhealthy when I "stop" dieting (in my weight maintenance phase). So far, I think this plan is working. I'm still very conscious about food, but I'm trying my hardest to always make smart decisions and not just give into temptation.
way to go doc! [quote:24c21fc0de] Plus, ultimately, I would like to be able to return to eating in restaurants and enjoying a few drinks. if you have sufficient will power you can stay on your diet at any restaurant you visit. as doc said, make the necessary subsitutions. fortunately i lost my appetite for fast food a few years ago so i can't say skipping fast food is a problem.
ruby tuesday is also started offering a low carb menu. it won't be too long until every plave you go has a low fat, low carb menu to choose from.
Yep... Went to a place called "Wallbangers" yesterday here in Corpus and they had a low carb menu that was pretty cool. I'm with Pix.. I think soon enough, just to stay in competition everyone will need to have one... lol AF lll
i have to say u americans have way more options than us here, when it comes to fast food we go to macdonalds about once every 2 weeks .. and my order is reg. fries, a DC and a big mac without meat.. its basically a sald buger with cheese.. i ask them to onnly put one layer of cheese. its fillinf sufficnet and not as bad as other stuff. Buger King is better cuz i ahve to salad without the mea t whihc is ok but not as fillinf as i'd hoped. anyways i am going out tommorow for a meal with friends and am worried i'll fall of the diet plan.. i hate going out and not being able to eat what u wnat huh?! But i am gonna giv it a shot.. will let u guys know how it went. i think i'll remmeber to substitute alot of salad.. by the way is soup a good option i heard it was bcoz it fills u up? and how will i know how many cals i have eaten when i go out.. cant ask the waiter to check eveyrhting for me  ????????? *~sheikha~*
