Curves fitness for women. We have one near me, less than a 5 min drive, or a 20 min walk. Just wondering if its a good 'investment'? My mother has a membership there, yet rarely goes, yet she says it is good. Anyone else go there? Or tried it? Worth the money, or not? Does it work is my main question! -Veronica

this is what i have heard regarding curves. it's nice because you can do an effective workout in 30 minutes. there isn't a lot of flexibility on the workout routine, so you pretty much do the same workout every time. if you are one that doesn't get bored with the same routine it would be OK. some curves (depending on who the franchise owner is) offer limited hours to the customers. it may be diiferent depending on your location. i would check with them to be sure. most also offer a free trial of some sort so that would be another thing worth asking about. hope that this is a little of the information you are looking for!

I actually JUST got a membership at curves last week! I havent been to my appointment yet, but my mother as well goes. I personally think its a good investment. Its full of other ladies doing what you're trying to do. The curves i go to the ppl are excellent and very supportive!! :D which i found great! My mom has been going not even for a month yet, and has tonned up tremendously. it works.... and like pixie said, if you get bored easy... steer clear!

Is there a "reason" that she doesn't go? Before signing a contract with any "fitness" club, it is always a good idea to find out what you are obligated for, is it a monthly recurring? 1 time annual payment?

The payment is no problem, i looked at it a while back, cant remember what it was but it wasnt too bad. My mother owns a business and is usually to busy to go, otherwise she would.

2 people i know joined curves and had the same reaction: "its too repetitive" anecdotal evidence at best but i figured i would throw it in :)

Personally i dont mind the same thing over and over and over again. If it works, i dont care. lol! i am just a really boring person that way,. i am the type of person who will find a song they like, but by the end of a week will hate hearing it because i will listen to it nonstop till i no longer find it interesting. hehe -Veronica

JUSt started at curves and i LOVE it!! it actually seems to work. Im sore!! its great... i would reccomend it forsure

Alot of ladies from work has joined Curves in Montreal and they love it. They say it is repetitive but hey 1/2 hour work outs are not a drag and easy to fit in to a schedule even the busiest ones. I prefer a work out without routine and decide what I want do when I go to the gym but for the ones who lack motivation ... This is the place to go.

Sometimes repetition is the best thing that can happen to you. You don't have to think about it, just do the routine. Most people are creatures of habit.

Thanks for all the responses! I will try to get over there and join something during the beginning of November

happy to be of help! :)

I like it a lot. I go 4 times a week and I have lost 3 inches. It can vary if you want it too as well. You can work on any machine you want and as long as you need to. They recommend you start at 2 times around the circuit and that you stretch. I now go 3 to 4 times around and I love it. I find that there are no spandex beauties and hard core excercises and you go at your own pace. It gives me a place to go and a schedule to keep to. You can variate which machines you work on and the speed you go. There is no time limit for you because if it takes 45 minutes to go around 4 times then so be it. I got one month free, it is 79$ canadian to start and it is 41$ a month. It is each to their own but I like it better than the conventional pump up the muscles gym. sharky[color=blue:f0607dcac0][/color:f0607dcac0]

Only curves around here are mine! *hah-hah* Down here in Arkansas, all we have is the "athletic club", which is basically a gym. But it does have all the latest nautilus equipment. We just got a family membership today, and it cost $30 joining fee and $30 a month for the entire family. They also offer unlimited tanning for $25 a month. Does this sound like a good deal to anyone? I've no idea about what gyms cost in other states.

Thats pretty reasonable, especially if it is for the whole family. Do they offer classes or equipment only?
