If you are just 14, PLEASE be cautious in trying to drop weight. A recent study stated that teens who tried to lose weight/diet actually gained MORE weight in the long run, than those who did not. My recommendation is that you just watch your portion sizes a bit more, try to eliminate junk food (replace it with fruit) and get more exercise. Do NOT try to drop calories dramatically. Your body is going through too many changes for that. Instead, choose more wisely what you eat. Instead of 2-3 slices of pizza, see if you can get a chicken salad with low-fat or fat-free dressing. You can eat tons of salad for the amount of fat and calories in that pizza. Instead of a cola or soda, opt for water. Eliminate caffeine. Instead of chocolate, go for an apple or grapes. And getting some exercise, like walking, etc. will help. Lastly, remember that losing weight will take a while. You may work-out all week, eat low cals and not lose anything or at best a pound. Don't be discouraged by this. At your age, you are growing and as hard as you try to lose weight, your body will counter by growing. But this advice holds true whether you are 14 or 64. Losing weight takes time - it could take months or even a year or more. Just keep eating healthy and doing some sort of exercise. As you mature into a grown woman, the work you do now will pay off. However, if you decide to go for starvation or fad diets, I guarantee you that you'll probably weigh more than ever in a year or two.
