Is one of the best ways to burn calories? Funny enough, it is something we used to do when we were kids! One hour of jumping rope burns about 550 calories (based on a 150 lb person) If you haven't jumped rope in awhile, it isn't as easy as you might remember!!


I hear you! That double dutch stuff is some [b:7bdd9f0d64]crazy[/b:7bdd9f0d64]stuff! I love to watch people do it.. I wish I had that talent! One rope is bad enough!!haha


I heard the same thing about jumping rope...unfortunately for me after 2 huge babies I get tired then pee every time I jump :oops:

when I was a kid, i had this crazy lemon thing. maybe someone else here will know what i'm talking about. there was a "lemon" (yellow plastic and filled with something that made noise) attached to a band that went around one ankle. You'd get it going and then "jump" the lemon. it was crazy and i loved it. of course this was in the 70's, so it's been a while.. anyone else here remember this wonderful toy?


It was called a "lemon Twist" I used to do it for hours!!

We had a toy similar to the Lemon Twist when I was little (well, I'm only 17, so it wasn't that long ago...) called the Skip-it. Came out in the early 90s, and those things were fun for hours! Especially since they had a counter on the side that told how many times you spun it around so you could have contests with your friends and see who could do the most. Fun toy, and that's the main reason I still have mine, LOL. Interesting thing about the jump-roping. I'm supposed to do it as post-surgery physical therapy, but just haven't...now I might! :D ~Alara

I believe they sell the skip things at wal mart in the toy department. I had heard that jump roping is a good form of a cardio work out. I never would have thought about it because it used to be so easy. Now I wish I wouldn't have stopped doing it. :P

I heard the same thing about jumping rope and so yesterdday I decided to do it while my son was napping. And it is way harder than it was when I was in elementary school. But I woke up today and my abs are soooo sore! I guess it uses more muscles than I thought it would. I will definately continue to do this in my down time!


first things first you have to be able to jump more than one inch off of the ground then......then maybe you could jump rope
