i have been having lots of troubles with dishonest scales. you know the type: they tell you something different all the time. my first scale i broke after he lied to me one time too many. so i figured: ahh...the problem must be he's digital. i'll go analog and get an honest scale this time. so i brought him home. homedics was his name. he was my new best friend. he told me good news every day for 2 weeks. every day he said there was less and less of me there. til one day he goes NUTS and shows his true colors. all of a sudden i am UP 20 pounds! inexplicably in a day. i know this can't be true. bah! so i decide to break him into little pieces so he can never lie to anyone again! then it dawns on me: scales are like 40 bucks each! you can't kill a scale every time it lies. so i went out an bought a partner for my first scale. we'll call him "second opinion". he's digital and a real slick feller to boot. now what i do is get a second opinion and average the two. thats what i decided to do with my dishonest scale. anyone else have this sort of trouble?

rotflmao That is some funny stuff there BigBoy!!

Bigboy -- do you remember the movie Labyrinth with David Bowie? Well, there are two doors, "One of us tells the truth and one of us always lies." "Oh, that's a lie!" That's what your scales remind me of!

Thats a great idea. You'll have to update us how that is working for you. How much have you lost so far?

 Great stuff. And I'm sorry to hear about the death of some of your scales. My home scale just bounces a lot - sometimes as much as 6 pounds. So I usually take the high and low numbers and average them. ;) My work scale is the one I hate - it says I weigh 20-25 pounds more than my home scale! 8O However, I only trust my home scale. For days that my weight does go up, I attribute it to day-to-day fluctuation and don't worry. Of course, my weight may go up a pound or two - not 20! I think I'd kill my scale if it said that as well (as if stepping on the poor thing isn't killing it enough already).

don't let that bouncing scale bounce too much. he's liable to think he can get away with it!

my scale must always be dishonest.one day i am 167,then another i am 159,another day is 164 then 166...it is always different..or is it just me?

BigBoy, your scale reminds me of my ex-husbands!

some funny stuff here.. you guys crack me up!!

No point in listening to what a scale says. You're better off paying attention to how your clothes fit and how you feel. If you workout and lose weight it makes the scale move a little slower because of the gain in muscle mass (which weighs more than fat).

i agree nancy41. in theory. but i always end up paying attention to the scale anyway.

I aggree with Nancy, don't worry about what the scale has to say. Worry more about how your clothes fit. When you have to change your belt to a new one because it has become to big. then you can be proud and say you have lost some weight. That is how I determine if I have lost weight or not.. Good luck

I hate scales! Yesterday, I stepped on my home scale [i:4353756d67]au natural[/i:4353756d67] before eating. The scale dipped to a new low - 248 pounds! Now, I don't think this is my "real" weight, as my scale bounces, but I was happy to finally see the scale dip that low. Because when the scale dips that low, the upper weight (on my bouncing scale) is about 5 pounds higher, meaning the average weight is in the middle. Therefore, I had lost a few more pounds! Yay me! :D Later that day, I was at "Bed, Bath and Beyond" looking for some items (didn't find them). They had a few scales, so I stepped on one. It read 285!!! 8O Now, I realized I was fully dressed, with my jeans, sweater, jacket, bulky wallet, keys, hat, heavy shoes, etc. And it was later in the day, after I had eaten. So let's say I take off as much as 15 pounds for all of that - that puts me at 270. So which is it? 250 or 270? It reminds me of my work scale... Am I really 20 pounds heavier than my home scale?? If so, that means I have another 20 pounds to lose. Sigh...
