For this recipe you will need these ingredients: 6 large green onions 2 green peppers 1 or 2 cans of tomatoes- diced or whole 3 Carrots 1 Container of Whole Mushrooms 1 bunch of celery Half of a head of cabbage 1 package Lipton soup mix ( I like golden mushroom) 1 or 2 cubes of bouillon -optional 1 48 oz can V8 juice -optional Season to taste with your favorite herbs or seasoning salts. Directions: Slice green onions, put in a pot and start to saute with cooking spray. Cut green pepper stem end off and cut in half, remove all seeds and trim white membrane out. Cut into bite size pieces and add to pot. Remove the outer leafs layers off the cabbage, cut into bite size pieces, add to pot. Clean carrots, cut into bite size pieces, and add to pot. Slice mushrooms into thick slices, add to pot. If you prefer a spicy soup, add a small amount of curry or cayenne pepper. You can use beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. These have all the salt and flavors you will need. Use 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook for two hours. Enjoy for the next 8 days :)

Thanks for that! I've always wondered what the elusive Cabbage Soup Diet Recipe looked like!

yummy. :? it sounds as if there is enough for a small army according to those directions. i guess you could freeze the leftovers and save them for some other time?

This is a LOT of soup - I know because I tried this diet once. I think the recipe I used had even MORE soup than what is written here! 8O The goal is to eat several bowls of soup a day, so in theory, you are to finish all this soup within a week (or so). I challenge people to really eat this much cabbage soup in a week. It's a great soup, but after the second day of eating 3 or so bowls, you really get tired of it fast. :?

I really loved this soup, it has an awesome flavor!! Although every time I decided to start it...I had the soup ingrediants only and forgot the fruits or whatever the first day was....maybe I will try again and have everything I need :-) There is a lot of soup, but it is good in flavor and does the trick, so to say.

I think it would be easier to follow this diet during the winter than in the summer. When it gets hot outside, soup is about the last thing I want to eat. I have heard that you get results from it though..
