Amazon.com sells this book and has not only a review, but readers' comments. You can read them [b:838f58a273]here[/b:838f58a273]. From what I've gathered, it seems to be more about a way of thinking - and this is VERY true, regardless of your diet plan. To lose weight and then [b:838f58a273]keep it off[/b:838f58a273], you have to change your mindset. I don't think Dr. Phil says anything revolutionary here, but if his work inspires you to lose weight, then by all means, read the book! :D
it basically goes like this, eat 1200 calories or about that.. do not eat junk foods, try to eat more healthier foods in place of old "habit" foods.. for the first two weeks you are not supposed to drink fruit juice, though you are allowed and encouraged to eat two servings of fruit a day, along w/ unlimated amounts of non-starchy veggies (it gives you a list of which ones are best for you), have a serving of protein at every meal, modify starchy carbs (and do not eat them after noon), drink 8 glasses of water daily. sample of rapid weight loss (first 14 days) meal breakfast: high fiber cereal 1 cup lowfat milk or soy milk 1 egg scram. (or 2 egg whites) strawberries coffee or tea snack: pear lunch: water packed tuna, one sliced tomato served w/ a generous bed of lettuce and other salad veggies 2 tbsp. low calorie italian dressing snack: 1 cup lowfat yogurt dinner: roasted chicken breast asparagus spears summer squash i have the book if you want any more details.. :) good luck
is it easy to follow? have you had any results?
for the most part it is easy to follow and it gives you quite a bit of choices on what you can and can not eat.. it also tells you (whole section in back) what things are better than others and so on.. it gives you calories for good and bad foods.. i was on it for about 3 weeks and lost around 15 lbs. which isn't bad. I've sense switched diets, but thats just personal preferance.
Hi, I following Dr.phils Plan i have been doing it since Novmeber 2003. and have lost 41 pounds so far. I dont really think of it as a plan or diet at all. you dont count and thing like points or calories and you dont have to cut any specific food out of your diet. He just puts foods into two groups the high cost high respose foods and the low cost low responce foods. In the book it just informs you to limit eating foods that are low cost that all! he also say that you should excerise as much as possible. The 14 dat diet thingy that the person before me wrote about is for people who have hit a plateau or people who what a jump start if they are just starting to lose weight. You dont have to follow it at all. Its just common sence, excerise everyday and instead of cookies and cake have carrots and bananas simple as that... Take care, Amanda :D
