Hello fuzzie, and welcome! :D We are glad that you're here. If you're actually experiencing pain while exercising, you need to stop. Check with a physician and see if they impose any limits on you, at least until the pain subsides. I'll see if I can find the information you requested on the web and I'll post it when I have it. Welcome again.

Hello and welcome FuzzieFrog! Since you're experiencing discomfort while attempting to work out, you may need to make some changes to how you're doing it. I'm not familiar with your situation so I'm limited in the amount of advice I can give you, but there's a possibility of you doing some water based excercise that have a lot less impact on your body. A bicycle, even a stationary one, would probably aid you in your quest to excercise and have much lower impact on your body. Also, many health clubs these days have pretty steep discounts on membership and the equipment they use is VERY well designed to prevent the type of aches and pains you're talking about. Whatever you decide to do, go slow and have faith in your ability to improve yourself. Rome wasn't built in a day, and losing a great deal of weight takes a great deal of time.

Fuzzy, I found a pretty nice starter page here http://www.healthcrazed.com/articles/howard1.htm which explains some good beginner info on exercise. Hope this helps :)

 Thanks for the replies.... the pain i feel is due to my weight and doctors ahve told me (hahahaha) if i walk more it will go away. i have to walk more i know but it is so discouraging to start and have to stop for 2 days and start again it killes me lol that i can hike up approximately 2-300 feel of trails almost at a verticle incline and feel no pain at all but let me push a lawn mower or walk down the street and in in major pain. go figure right? anyways....keep the replies coming...they give me great hope and faith.. and thanks for the link also i do hope it helps.

Hello fuzzy! Water aerobics might be another thing you could start out with. The reason I suggest this is because you do not have the gravity thing going on in the water. Any exercises that you do will not impact on your knees, hips.. etc. I know that many YMCA's offer this as a class. As well as some hospitals/ physical therapy rehab places.. maybe your doc would have a referral or two.. Thanks for being here! We're here to help! :D

I agree with symbiosis. I was going to say, perhaps you could try swimming. It's good excercise and virtually impact free. Plus there's the added benefit of the anti-gravity thing. Anyway... good luck from a fellow newbie!

Welcome to you Sapphyre!
