Halloween is only a month and a half away! I have seen this on other forums, and have no clue if this one has it. But if it dosent I figure I will start one! What is your weight-loss goal for Halloween? Make one if you have not already and join in! Post your weigh in now, and again next week! My Halloween Goal Started: 180 Now: 160.2 Halloween Goal: 150! -Veronica :D :D :D

If I trust my scale at home, I started at around 283. This was my weight first thing in the morning, fully unclothed. I now weigh around 257. Yay me! :D My Halloween goal is to drop at least another 20 pounds (it is possible to do this on my current diet/work-out plan). So I hope to be around 235-240 by Halloween. My company's work scale, however, is much more cruel. Fully clothed, with a lab coat and after a filling, but very healthy lunch (full of veggies, water and fruits), I weighed 285! 8O Now, the clothes do add weight and with a full stomach, I'm sure that's another few pounds. However, I can't see this being much more than 10 to even 15 pounds total, meaning my weight, per my work scale is at least 270. :? This makes me wonder what my weight would have been on this scale before I started dieting! I think I would have topped 300, which would have depressed me. So it's a good thing I didn't step on it then. Of course, this scale is known to give "higher values" than expected...so do I trust it? In any event, by Halloween, I want my work scale to read 265 when I stand on it fully clothed after lunch. But for my "real" weight, I will go by my home scale. In other words, regardless of the scale I use, I want all values down by about 20 pounds by Halloween.

You can do it!!! Good luck!! Dont forget to post your weigh in next week! -Veronica

after goofing around a few times, I found myself back at 319 this sunday. enough said I to myself. so I got back to basics. i managed to drop 15 pounds in 3 days. however, that is unlikely to continue, since it was mostly cookie and cake binging weight! so now I am at 305. i can see losing at least 20 pounds by Halloween. that would be a goal of 285. i can do that.

Halloween is such great fun.. You just have to skip the candy! that's all!! Kirlaskia: 10 pounds in 6 1/2 weeks should be doable.. keep us posted on your progress!

I'm in. I still have a good 45 to lose. I bet I can have 15 of that off by Halloween. 175 now. 160 by halloween. 130 finally.

hmmm, i think i will try to lose *13* magical pounds my halloween! :) Started at 203 (8/18/03) Now at 192 (as of 9/15/03) Since I am pretty strict about only doing my weighins once per week, first thing Monday morning, my Halloween goal is 179 by Monday, 11/03/2003. Wow, this has me thinking that I might have to adjust my YE goal. A few weeks ago I set my year end goal as 175 pounds. I'll have to see how I do on this Halloween challenge and then adjust that end-of-year goal if I need to. You 20-pounders sure are an ambitious bunch! But best of luck to you all! - Joan

[quote:f648761691="lezdrum"] You 20-pounders sure are an ambitious bunch! But best of luck to you all! - Joan[/quote:f648761691] LOL! Maybe... but when you have SO much to lose, 20 pounds is actually pretty easy. It's when you have maybe only 20-30 pounds to lose, that things get difficult. In theory, this program I'm on should allow me to drop around 25-30 pounds of fat and gain about 5 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks. My first 6 weeks of this program ends on Sept. 23rd. My second 6 weeks will start immediately thereafter and will end on Nov. 4th, which is just past Halloween. If I am as successful on this second 6 week segment as I was on the first, then 20 pounds dropped by Halloween is possible (or so I'm hoping!).

at my current weight of 304, 20 pounds is a very small percentage of my total weight. i would have been going out on a limb saying 30 or 40!

First time here and I'd like to be in the Halloween Challenge. Got up to 160 and would like to lose a total of 30 lbs. Been dieting on and off since August and started Weight Watchers last week. Lost 4 1/2 pounds as of this morning. Now at 155 1/2. As a 49 year old woman who is in menopause, my metabolism isn't what it used to be! So I'll be conservative and say that if I lose 5 more lbs by Halloween, I'll be happy. Goal for Halloween: 150 Goal for Thanksgiving: 145 Goal for my 50th Birthday: 130!!!!

Forgot to say my 50th is in February :P

Good Luck everyone!!!!! DOnt forget to post next week!

I was 160 and now 163, but my halloween goal weight is 150

Friday weigh-in sounds good, but if you cant make it on fridays, post your weight anyday, but remember to post on halloween! Everyone seems to be doing great!!! Thats wonderful! We have 5 Weeks and 2 Days left until Halloween! Thats 37 Days! We can all make our goals, as long as we work hard for them, and remember to eat right! Good Luck EVERYONE! -Veronica

Doc & Big Boy, Ambitious is good! :) And I'll be cheering you along for the next 6 weeks! I lost 0 in Week 5, but I still think I can do my 13 pounds by Halloween. Cadylee, I am also doing weight watchers. Your goal sounds good to me! I'll be cheering you along too! The rest of you, Actually, I'll be cheering for all of us. Each individual's success is a motivator for my own. It would be fun to see how many pounds we lose collectively on this challange. :) - Joan

[quote:69deb60be9="lezdrum"]Doc & Big Boy, Ambitious is good! :) And I'll be cheering you along for the next 6 weeks! I lost 0 in Week 5, but I still think I can do my 13 pounds by Halloween. - Joan[/quote:69deb60be9] Maybe a bit ambitious... but the way I figure, it's all good. ;) As I wrote above, this exercise/work-out program I'm on allows for that type of weight loss in 6 weeks. So I work towards dropping 20 pounds. If I don't quite succeed and "only" lose 10-15 pounds, that's still great! That's 10-15 less pounds than I had before. But I do think 20 is possible. Now, if there is a Christmas Challenge, I once again will try to drop 20 pounds. But if I am successful come my Halloween challenge, I can assure you that matching that again for Christmas will be difficult as now I'll have less weight to lose. But again, I'll try my best and see what happens. :D For now, though, as BigBoy wrote, I have SO much to lose, that 20 pounds really isn't that much.

Hi Everyone, I just bought Tae Bo tapes on ebay. I haven't exercised in years and don't like gyms. Thought maybe I'd try Tae Bo along with Weight Watchers. Has anyone ever done Tae Bo? If so, how did you like it? I need all the help I can get :D Here's hoping we all make our goals at Halloween :P Cadylee

Halloween is on a Friday - so I thought that perhaps we should have our weekly weigh-ins every Friday. :) However, since I think it was around a week ago when I joined this challenge, I will update now. Last week, my scale bounced between 257 and 262 or so. Most readings were toward the upper 250's. As of this morning, the scale readings bounced as low as 254 and as high as 260. So I'm guessing I lost 2-3 pounds for the week. Not bad! I was concerned, because Tuesday morning gave me a weight GAIN! Yikes! I did eat extra on Monday, but it was still very healthy, VERY low fat and high in fiber. In other words, I still ate within my diet, just a little extra. Could I really gain weight from that? Maybe... or maybe it was just day-to-day variations. In any event, since my scale bounces so much, I always get a thrill seeing what new low weight I can reach. When I started, the upper reading on my scale was 285, with the low point being 280! Depending on how you read the data, I've lost 20-29 pounds. Since that is quite a range, I tend to take the averages. I believe I started at 283 and am now around 256-257, meaning about 26-27 pounds total loss. My Halloween goal is still to get the scale to dip into the 230's. Even if my new low weight (on this bouncing scale) is 239, I'll be happy - because that will mean my high weight should be no more than 245 - and that is a good weight loss!

hello cadylee! :D i have never tried tae- bo myself, but it looks to be very challenging (from infomercials!! :P ) have you popped that tape in and given it a run through yet?

i'm at 299. i said 20 pounds when i was at 304 so i am well on my way to winning the Halloween challenge!

Hi. Weigh in this morning was 154! My goal for Halloween is 150. I'm hoping it will be lower by then. I just ordered the Tae Bo tapes and haven't received them yet. Will let you know how they are when I start doing them. :P

4 pounds by halloween should be a breeze! Cadylee 8) are you cutting back on your calorie intake or just implementing some exercise into your routine?

Queen Bee, I'm doing Weight Watchers. I was a potato chip junkie and have cut them out of my diet completely now. I suppose I could have them with WW but as the saying goes: I can't eat just one :D My only exercise right now is walking my dog! She's my personal trainer, but she's getting old and doesn't walk very far now. So I decided to try something else, and ordered the Tae Bo tapes. I do hope 4 pounds will be no trouble, but with my metabolism, it can take awhile. We'll see!!!!

Another Post I know, sorry I didn't put it in the other message, but wanted this in its own! Anyway,.... To make things easier for our 5 weeks left, I thought a small challange for everyone who wants to might help to keep us on track! [u:036f60c505][b:036f60c505][size=24:036f60c505]WEEKLY CHALLANGE[/u:036f60c505][/b:036f60c505][/size:036f60c505] I am now adding a weekly Challange for all who want a little pick-me-up! It's a hefty challange, but try it out! Even if you dont complete it, tell us how you did. Or how much of it you did! Even if its not all, some is better than none! CHALLANGE UPDATES for me I have been having more water, about two glasses a day! I really need to drink more! Anyway, I Did my Kathy Smith: Weight Loss Workout video today, for 35 minutes, and will do something tomarrow as well. Along with a extra tonight since I didnt excercise this week. Eating healthy again too! -Veronica

I just started my diet on 9/25/03 and weighed in at 200. By Halloween I hope to weigh 185. (but I'll take 190!) Am new here - how much water should I take in per day? Am currently taking 6-8 glasses. Have dropped off the soda pop to 2 (cans) per day and have cut portions in half. Have just started on Adipex - and is really helping with appetite control. 8O To top it all off....I'm actually not hungry! Yay! I think I can deal with this!

6-8 glasses is great a day! From the sounds of it your on the right track! Keep up the great work! Youll have the weight off, if not more, in no time!! -Veronica

Stayed the same, 159.8, didn't gain though so I am happy about that! Have to love that monthly visitor, screwing up your weigh in! Anyway, next week will be better! -Veronica

I guess I will join in here Weight Now:165 Goal for Halloween:155 I keep on yoyo ing

Well, at work today I passed by the scales (I work in a nursing home as a nurse) and I just couldn't stand it....I had to step on them to see if I had made any progress. Thursday I weighed 200 and today (Sunday) I weigh 195. Yippeee!!!!

That's great news anndoodle! Keep up the good work.

I posted my weight loss results in another thread, so I won't go into detail here. Just to briefly recapitulate, I estimate I dropped about 3 pounds! Woo Hoo! My home scale gave a new low reading of 253, with an upper reading of 256 - so I'm definitely out of the 260 range for good! My work scale gives a much higher reading, but even that says I've lost 10 pounds! Once I can get my home scale to start reading in the 240's, I'll know I can reach my Halloween goal! :D

I'm well on my weight too. Down to 178.5! Congrats to all you "losers"!!!!

Is it too late to join the challange? I've got 31 days. Now - 157 Halloween goal - 148 Final Goal - 135 I think I can. I think I can.

Never to late to join!!! Good Luck!!! Great job everyone!!!! -Veronica

Excellent! You guys are doing fabulous!! Keep up the great work.. I can hardly wait to find out who wins!!

I stepped on my home scale today and, as usual it bounced, but it gave me a new low reading! It dropped all the way to 251 pounds! Woo Hoo! Plus, the high reading was just 255! I can smell those 240's! If all goes well, I have about 14 pounds to lose to meet my Halloween goal! :D

The sweet smell of success is wafting through the air.. I can smell it, and it isn't an oven full of brownies!! hehe! Congrats DoctorU2!

Way to go Doc!

I agree, Great Job, Doc! -Veronica

:) Do you guys have any tips for me to lose weight?

Excercise and eating healthy, not to mention smaller portions! Also, lots and lots and lots of water.

After two weeks maintaining, I finally.... ... A great suprise! I went to look at my scale again, not sure why, but I noticed the thing was offset, so i reset it and weighed again. 158.2!!! Meaning I lost 1.6 Lbs!!!!!!! YAY! and I am only 8.2 Lbs away from my halloween goal! -Veronica How is everyone doing>?!?

Congrats to all of us losing weight : :P I weighed in today at 151.5 !!! Goal weight for Halloween is 150. I think that's doable! Looking to see what my weight will actually be then. Haven't done the Tae bo yet. Received the tapes but the Instructional tape was defective. Waiting for my friend to lend me hers. Also picked up a HealthRider from my neighbors garage sale for nothing. Will try that. Otherwise my guests will have something to hang their clothes on!! I'll keep posting. Everyone stay on track!! This is great motivation!!!

CONGRATS!! Your very close to your halloween goal! Who knows how far past it youll make it! -Veronica

Thanks, Kirlaskia! I'm really motivated to lose it this time. I stopped smoking last January and I think I replaced cigarettes with food. Now I think if I can stop smoking, I can lose this weight!!! It is so much harder when you are in menopause to lose weight, so I'm being very realistic as to my weight goals. I'll be happy to lose 3 - 5 pounds a month, slowly, and don't want to put them back on when I reach my goal. I really tend to overeat, so this is a real change of eating lifestyle that I'm trying to achieve.

You have a great attitude!! Dont worry you'll get there! -Veronica

Everyone is doing so well with their diets! :D I want to get in on the challenge too. I think I may have past my Halloween goal so I'll change it after I get the nerve to weigh in again. Started at 275 I want 255 by Hallowe'en I know I was at 265 last week and now my pants are very loose in the belly.

Keep us posted! Let us know if you've already passed your goal for frightnight!!

Now it's my turn to complain about my scale. According to the one at my house I have gained weight. I know that's not true because I have my room in my clothes. It's just trying to drive me over the edge so I become a scale killer like doctoru2. I think it was doc who was throwing out his scales. So this is my evil plan of revenge. I moved the dial back the 15 lbs my doctor says I've lost and I will make the scale behave or I will jump up & down on it till it is in pieces. Death to scales everywhere!!

Dont worry! A lot of the time I noticed the doctors scale is off from our ones at home. Honestly going by your own scale is the best, since you probably are not weighing in everyday at the doctors its not always accurate. Think, how many people use that same machine each day! Although if it shows a 15 pound difference, go right ahead and kick your scale! It's obviously it is just being rood! lol! Those scales, they just get more and more mouthy each day! anyway, How is everyone doing?!?!? -Veronica

I'm not a scale killer! I think it was either BigAl or BigBoy who kills scales - but I can relate. My scale bounces a lot. So I just go with how I feel, how clothes fit, and the compliments I receive. Plus, I know I have a long way to go (one look at my gut proves this), so I just keep at it. Still, I'd love it if I could drop around 10 more pounds by Halloween (even on my bouncing scale).

it is i who is the scale killer. but its not murder. every scale i ever killed deserved it :)

Thanks Bigboy & Doc for clearing up just who is the scale killer. We better hope the Society for the Protection of Scales doesn't get a hint of crimes committed or contemplated by members of this forum or we'll be in big trouble. Seriously does anyone know of a good scale that's accurate but doesn't cost an outrageous amount of money?

I have a nice digital one at home, I can't recall off of the top of my head who makes it (I'll take a look and post when I get home) I got it at Target for around 30.00. It doesn't "bounce" like some, do.. after it takes a reading, it will blink 3 times to let you know that it's done.. you can step on it 5 times in a row, and it returns a pretty stable reading..

I had a digital scale once. But whenever I stepped on it, it didn't give me a number. Instead it just flashed, "YOWZAH!" I can only ass-u-me that it was complimenting my finely untoned abs.

I have a digital scale, from target! lol but if its moved around a lot it can get off balance. And or about a week i was lugging it back and forth between my sisters house, since i was watching her kids while she was out of town, and back home. but its back to norm. -Veronica

Thanks I will check at Target for a digital. But do you think my problems aren't the scale so much as I'm just to fat for it? Maybe it's trying to commit suicide by making me mad enough to kill it....hum

hehe.. suicide or homicide? The scale police have been called to the scene of the crime!!

I have no idea how too lose weight.Do you guys have any tips?

Find out how many calories you need a day to loose weight, your BMR. http://www.caloriesperhour.com/index_burn.html Then each no more than what is suggested each day. Watch out for high in fat, sodium and sugar though! Also, exercise 3-6 times per week for at least 30 min each. OUt of time at the moment so if you want more info, i will write back later! -Veronica

Reading back on what i said, is the just of it. Exercise, calories limit in food, and lots of water. _________________ Going good so far, weigh in for me is Sunday, worried that I ate too much yesturday and that it screwed up my great week. But I am hoping for at least some loss! -Veronica

It really isn't that complicated. Cut back on the high fat, high calories you've been eating and replace them with lower calorie foods. Initiate an exercise program to burn additional calories. And most of all, stay consistent and realize it will take a lot of time to lose a lot of weight. If you have less to lose, your task will be easier.

Starting: 180 Now:157.2 - lost a pound!!! Halloween Goal: 150 (not gonna make that! but close at least!) Ultimate Goal: 125 Lost one pound this week!!! Although I peek at the scale often during the week, and last night before dinner it said 155.6, this morning it went back to 157.2. It's been heavier in the mornings lately. Might just be because i am dead asleep standing on the scale. lol anyway, lost a pound!! I am happy i lost that! -Veronica

congrats to you on the loss. I managed to do the opposite. I can tell by the way my clothes fit.. no reason to call a scale to confirm. I just decided I wasn't going to let that wreck my day, week, etc. I am going to go to the gym and combat it! Life isn't all about cookies, you know??

[quote:03973ddc1a="QueenBee"]Life isn't all about cookies, you know??[/quote:03973ddc1a] It isn't?! :?: :!: Awww.... :( This is both the best and worst times of the year to diet. It's the worst because the Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday season (at least in the U.S.) often means tons of candy, cakes and food. There's eggnog and alcohol to be had as well. However, it's for this very reason that this is the best time to diet. Those of us who started our diets in September or earlier will already be in a nice "diet mode" by the time these holidays arrive. I have a bowl of candy ready for trick-or-treaters. I admit, I nibbled a tiny bit, but only on relatively low-fat candy (those little Tootsie Rolls are great - 6 of them are about 120 calories, with only 20 from fat). As I've been in a diet mode for 2 months now, I find myself simply not attracted to the candy. The old me would have already eaten half the bowl. LOL! Plus, with the cooler weather, fall foliage and festive decorations, it's a great time for walks and working-out. No excuses about it being too hot and humid to exercise. Lastly, we have the inspiration of holiday parties to keep us on our diet/exercise programs so we look good. Therefore, allow yourself some cookies - just make sure you do work-out to burn off the calories. If you were tired or lazy, as I was last week, and didn't work-out enough, then make sure you at least stick to your diet. Lastly, remember, there's always another day. I worked-out yesterday, which felt great. I plan on doing more tonight and tomorrow. I have a long-time friend who I haven't seen in ages travelling to my general area this coming weekend. That's giving me a little extra incentive to work-out and stay on my diet. This person may still think I'm "large" (compared to years ago), but at least I won't be as large as I was in July!!

Great attitude Queen Bee!!! You'll be sure to loose what weight you gained, with that! Doctoru2 great way to put the holiday season into perspective!!!! That's a much better way to think of it, then some of us do! Thats for sure! Great Luck Everyone! -Veronica

[quote:79541726b8]Life isn't all about cookies, you know?? [/quote:79541726b8] This past weekend was, though :( Oh well.. it was fun while it all lasted! **Crack that whip** singing to an old Devo tune~~

All I can say about this last weekend is: CHEATER, CHEATER & CHEATERS NEVER LOSE ANY WEIGHT  !! I did cheat a lot but didn't gain any I'm holding at 260. I have lost 15 lbs in the 13 days on this diet and only 5 more to go for my Halloween goal of 255. How's everyone else doing with their Halloween target weight?

Unfortunatly, I am 7.2 Lbs away from my halloween goal. But I know I will make it CLOSE to it at least! That's definatly fine with me! I am at 157.2 Lbs and my halloween was 150. But when I started my halloween goal, I was at (trying to remember) 160.2 I have lost 3 lbs so far. But in this time, I hit a plataeu along the way. For two weeks i was 159.8, buit then the last two weeks i have actually been loosing! So I feel happy that I am loosing again even though I prob wont make my Halloween goal. But I will come close! -Veronica

On my ever-bouncing home scale, my Halloween goal is to see it dip to 239. This morning, slowly getting on my home scale unclothed with no food/drink in me, the scale dipped to as low as 242/243! Quickly jumping on the scale always causes the number to read higher - this time around 248. So that means, I am maybe 245 average. Not bad! I have as little as 3 pounds to go - but probably more like 6-10. Still, I'm happy - my weight, per my home scale, is in the 240's! I'm finally out of those dreaded 250's (took forever)! On the hated work scale, a few weeks back, I was 285 pounds. This is fully dressed, with shoes and a lab coat. Plus, I usually have food in me. I now weigh 269 on it under the same conditions! So, per the work scale, I've dropped at least 16 pounds! The work scale has always given me a number 20-25 pounds more than my home scale, but the fact that it now says I dropped 16 pounds makes me happy. :D So I'm on my way!

WTG, Doctoru2! Your doing a excellent job!!!! It's great when those bouncy scales show such a big loss!! Granted I have a digital one, but i used to have a bouncy one, man did I go insane! lol Great job!!! -Veronica

Everyone is doing pretty good in my opinion. Even if you fall "short" on your Halloween goal, knowing that you're one pound closer to attaining it! I got myself off of my cookie craze and have came back to earth on my weight! :D

queenbee is right! you should always be proud of your accomplishments no matter how small they may seem. all of the little accomplishemnts soon add up to a new beautiful thin you!!

Hello! Weighed in today, but i just woke up and extremly tired, so i will do it again in a little bit when i wake up. i lost .8 pounds when i weighed, putting me at 156.4 lbs. I am just happy I will NEVER weigh 160 again. Never never never! So i will prob be back in a half hour, when i re-weigh in. starting to wake up, so i wont wobble back and forth half asleep on the scale. hehe -Veronica

Okay re-weighed in. Not much a difference but some, down to 156.2, meaning i lost 1 pound instead of .8! Hehe! Just happy to loose a pound, or anything! -Veronica

good work kirlaskia. a pound is a pound.

kirlaskia good job losing that pound. :D

way to go! keep it up!

Don't mean to be a party pooper, but I'm not doing too well. My goal for Halloween was 150 and I was only 1.5 lbs away about 2 weeks ago. I'm sorry to report I've gained 2 pounds!! With only 6 days to go, I don't think I'll make it. I have been cheating, so it's my own fault. Will start back eating well tomorrow as today was a washout. Still feel good about losing the 7 pounds. Veronica, I'm with you. I will never be 160 again. Hope to say that about 150! Hope all of you are doing better than me! Will check back in on Halloween or if I have better news to report!!! Good luck all. Leslie

Your doing great CandyLee! Everyone is!! There is 1 week left till halloween! Are you going to make your goal? I gained 1.2 lbs this week, bringing me to 157.4 Lbs! I deserve it though, from how I ate. Next week will be better! -Veronica

It is going to be close! I will definitely keep you posted. Wish me luck, I need it.

How is everyone doing? Halloween is tomorrow, so be sure to let us know! I can hardly wait for all of the cute little trick-or-treaters to show up! As for my Halloween goal, I have surpassed my expectations and have lost 3 pounds, bringing my total weight loss (from prior to joining this forum) to a grand total of 73 pounds all together! Hard to believe a year ago I tipped the scales at over 200 pounds.. I am never going back to that again!!

QB, You are an inspiration!! Can I ask how you did it? I was on Weight Watchers and went off for a week. Gained back 3.5 pounds, so I did not reach my Halloween goal. My friend and I were talking about how a year from now, we'll be thinner. She's at 190 now and I'm at 155. We need some help!!! What do you eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, if you don't mind my asking? It is truly great to see that you have lost 73 pounds in a year!! My hat is off to you and all those actually doing it and losing the weight. Once I go off the "diet" or healthy way of eating, it takes a lot to get me motivated or in the right frame of mind to eat well. I get so tired of salads, fruits, lean cuisines. I enjoyed them so much this summer, now the salad stuff is rotting in the refrigerator. I need help getting back on track!!!! (Ate alot of the Halloween candy already). Figure I'll start again November 1st!!

Boy do you make a great point Cady, going off a diet is much worse than ever having been on one in the first place. The "yo yo" effect is just about the worst thing for you.

ITS HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!! How did everyone do? I dont weigh in till sunday, but I weighed int his morning as well and it said 155.2 meaning i lost last weeks gain, and then some! I was only 5.2 lbs away from my halloween goal. -Veronica

congrats to you! that is by far the closest weigh in we've had! i guess we'll see if anyone has any follow up on their 'halloween challenge' 2 thumbs up ! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Here is my reply to you from the other thread, figured i would start a new one just for you!! Let me tell what you what happened to me, that really helped me lose weight. I wish I could tell you that I had a specific diet that I followed, but I didn't at all. I turned positive about things. I got out of a bad relationship that I was in for over a decade. I saw myself in the mirror and didn't like what I saw at all. So I decided to change. I dropped all soda pop from my frig, even diet. Started drinking water, lots of it! I drink hot and iced tea unsweetened every once in awhile, but water mostly. I started walking every day, I enjoy the air, and I started to embrace life and how much more I would enjoy it being thinner. I knew in my heart that I was hiding my light under a bushel-barrell. I was hiding my beauty under a layer of fat. Somewhere along the way I started protecting myself by being fat. When I felt hurt, I would turn to food. When I turned to food, I would gain more weight. I had enough of myself. What I was doing was self destructive, and I had to gain back my inner power. Once I decided this and really, really meant it with my heart and soul, this is when things turned around for me. I ate better, because you are what you eat. :D So that meant all this time I was a doughnut! I was soft in the middle and deep fried :) I hope my story helps you a bit..

Congrats QB! You've done a excellent job so far, with weight-loss and life in general! Keep it up! -Veronica

I've lost 26.2 lbs so far! -Veronica

way to go veronica! way to go everyone who did a great job! you are an inspiration to us all!

Today, Nov. 4th, is the 12-week point of my diet/work-out regime. I was "bad" last week in terms of food. My exercise routine was O.K., but I could have walked more. I let myself indulge in candy and some foods that I really haven't eaten in a while. As a result, I don't think I lost much weight last week. My Halloween goal was to have my home scale read 239 just once. Well, this morning I stepped on it - and it read that - just once! :D I had trouble getting the scale to repeat that low-reading, but I was happy to at least see it dip that low. Of course, all the other scales say I weigh 20 pounds more. I have no idea why my home scale is so "forgiving". On my work scale, I've gone from 285 to 264! This is fully dressed, though, hence, I'm guessing I'm really around 260. Still, the work scale shows a good weight loss - just in time for my Halloween goal. My goal was to lose 20 pounds from the time this thread was started to Halloween, and I came pretty darn close (if not right on!). Now that Halloween is over, time to set a holiday (or Christmas) season goal! I want to see if I can drop another 20 pounds. I want my home scale to read in the 220's and my work scale (as well as all other scales) to read in the 240's. So time for a new thread and a new commitment to weight loss! :D

congrats doc! you are doing a great job. ignore the scales that are 20 pounds higher. we all know how dis-honest scales can be ;)
