well since i am totally out of shape i needed to start somewhere soooo, i jumped on the tredmill for about 5 mins to warm up then went to the stair climbing machine for about 15 min then the stationary bike for about 10 min then the eliptical machine for another 10 min, then for a cool down i went swimming and did a few streaches in the pool for about 20 minutes. i feel great now i just have to keep motivated. tomarrow i plan to just go to the pool and swim for about a 1/2 hour that way i atleast stay active even when i cant work out

Sounds like a plan. Sounds like a pretty decent effort by you. Congrats.

Whether you do the stair-machine, weights, swimming, running, or even walking, exercise is good! Exercise creates endorphines, which in turn create this feeling of euphoria in us. Essentially, exercise makes us happy! :D I know how tough it is to exercise. Last night, I literally had to force myself to do my work-out. I use the BowFlex machine and after certain exercises, thoughts about stopping ran through my head. But I kept going - because I knew how great I'd feel after I was done. And indeed that happened. I felt good because I kept my promise to myself to exercise yesterday. I also felt good because of the exercise itself. So keep going! You are doing great!! :)

I sleep much better if I have exercised. Like a log to be exact. I think the much bigger problem is getting in "[b:2d43e52817]THE HABIT"[/b:2d43e52817] of doing it religiously. Which is what I'm trying to do. I want to replace my "BAD" habits ot eating cookies, ice cream etc. with "GOOD" habits of moving my butt off of the couch when I'm feeling a munchie attack coming on, repalcing soda pop with WATER.

[b:668a9c534d]Habits are what life is made of![/b:668a9c534d] Having good habits leads to a good life.. Just my thoughts!

If I use it more, great, but I force myself to use it every other day (as per BowFlex's instructions on weight loss). Then, for chips and cookies and such, I replace them either with low fat alternatives (like baked chips) or something very healthy, like raisins. I also grab a water and gulp that down. Sometimes the water is enough to fill me up and give my mouth "something to do". I've been doing these "habits" for a month now. My goal is that they become a regular part of my life and I no longer want or desire bad foods. So far, it's starting to work. Today, there was a great home-made cake at work for various people's birthdays. I resisted taking even a tiny slice - in fact, I didn't even want a slice. Instead I got more water and felt good about my willpower!

Way to go DoctorU2. Good job on just "saying no" to the cakes at work. That shows a great amount of discipline. :) Workplaces can be a soource of a lot of temptations, I used to work the night shift and the vending machines were everywhere. The plant had a cafeteria, but with only an 18 minute lunch, trekking half a mile to get to it wasn't always an option. Holidays and birthdays we normally would have potlucks with sometimes as many as 30 people involved, so I know how that can be! :!: Anyhow, Keep your head held high. You are doing a terrific job! Maybe we'll be able to see some "before" and "after" pics!!
