according to "Life without bread" the benefits of a low carb diet can be had with a daily intake under 72.
cool ..... So that means I will lose the weight and my calorie in take will be 603 And my carbo is 60 Thank you ! Big Boy :)
you are welcome. :)
Can you both explain more about this? Bible: are you talking about 603 calories for one dish/meal with a carb count of 60? Is this your calorie count for the entire day? BigBoy: do you mean 72 carbs for the WHOLE day? If so, then maybe eating 60 carbs in one meal isn't a good thing...
At 603 calories per day you can expect to be pretty listless. You will lose weight, but you will lack the nutrition you need to have a healthy happy life.
doctoru2 Yes 603 calories a day & 60 carbo a day all the water you want :)

I'm working on a 1300-1500 calorie/day diet and I find that trying. I think you would do great on a 1000-1200 calorie/day diet. You won't feel nearly as hungry and you'll definitely get all the nutrients you need. Plus, with those extra calories (and keep in mind that 1000 calories/day is very low!), you'll be less prone to break your diet and stick with it. However, if you are insisting on only 600 calories a day - best of luck to you. Just check with your doctor first. We'll be here for support.
doctoru2 So far so good I dont want anything else more to eat but if I do want to eat more I have an apple to eat for a snack at night !
Have you dropped any weight yet Bible?
No I have just started today and didnt fail so we will see tomorrow
Well so far so good , I lose 2 pounds so far !
Good news! What does your 600 calorie diet consist of exactly, Bible?
bible, you are one hard core dieter! i have cut back to about 2,000 calories and around 30 grams of carbs. i managed to drop 15 pounds this week. that, plus working out. at 600 calories a day, i imagine the results will be faster, but you need to worry about the rebound effect once you start eating more.

I didn't think that was possible... Is this an Atkins diet?
Symbiosis Ask ...What does your 600 calorie diet consist of exactly, Bible? I eat 2 chese'n crackers breakfest , lunch , dinner , = 600 calorie a day 1 cup of one calorie pepsi breakfest , lunch , dinner, = 3 calories a day Apple = 80 calorie only if I am very hungry total calorie = 683 total carb = 82 Kraft Handi-snacks , it even comes with a stick to spread the chese on the cracker very handy in deed you can take it anywhere you want so theres no excuse for me to say I can't bring it with me when i go out ! I have put up with this weight for 9 years so I am putting my foot down and eating less when i do hit my weight I will eat less calories 1000 calories a day but untill then I need to lose the weight this way its seems to be working for me. You guys have to find out what workd for you all I have tryd so many things . I want to get alot off before thanksgiving and christmas as we all know thats the worse time to lose weight with all the food around . I want to lose 64 pounds before thanksgiving I want to suprise my family when they come over for thanksgiving ! And even if i dont lose all the weight i want to lose enough that i can wear my jeans and not joging pants ! 8)
That's a tough diet you are on Bible... I realize your ambition - I'm on a similar one. But you are asking your body to drop 60 pounds in about 2 months! That's a lot even on the best of diets! Also, from what you wrote, it doesn't seem like you are getting a lot of nutritional value. The apple helps, but the diet soda plus cracker/cheese combo isn't very healthy at all - even if it is low in calories. I'd recommend that for dinner, instead of crackers and cheese, you make a nice salad with fat-free dressing. It'll still be VERY low in calories - probably lower in calories than your crackers and cheese! But you'll be able to get many nutrients and probably even eat more of it (to feel less hungry). For breakfast, you might want to try a bagel with fat-free or light cream cheese. Bagels are high in carbs, so you might want to search for a low-cal one (which usually drops the carbs). However, this will give you some fiber in your diet. It'll also help fill you up and it'll give you some variation in your diet. In other words, while I think 600-700 calories a day is VERY tough to do, it may be possible as long as you get the necessary nutrients and variety in your diet. Eating cheese and crackers for lunch is great - as you said, they are easy to carry and there'll be no excuse to overeat. But for other meals, you might want to work on other food items. Based on the cheese-cracker diet, I fear that even if you lose the weight, you could be doing some damage to your body. Also, as it is such a tough diet, you might fall from it too fast. Good luck!
doctoru2 I know it dosent sound like a great plan but for so many years I have faild and I need to lose the weight before it kills me . So I need to suffer a little to teach me to never go back to this weight . I know salads are a great way for food and i love salads from wendys I think a small ceaser is only 90 calories , I like the mc donalds ceaser chicken salad also . Thanks for the tip ! lost one 1 pound today .
just a question for you bible.. please don't take this the wrong way. Say you do follow this diet for an extended period of time and lose the weight that want to lose.. what happens after that? Is this diet something you are going to be able to follow for the rest of your life? ( Most people think of a diet as a "temporary fix" for a much bigger problem ) Have you consulted your doctor to see if this is a wise idea? Just sort of wondering, because I'm not sure how long *I* would be able to follow this, without getting sick of Handi-Snacks. :!:
Symbiosis , Once I get to my weight that will make me more healthy then I will not eat past 1000 calories a day . I know now that if I do pass 1000 calories a day . I could end up back where I started . So I know now what not to do . I will never be at this weight again I had 3 kids thats why I am very over weight . but now I have no excuse to be over weight my last child is 3 years old now ! So whats my excuse . I looked at a picture of myself and was in shock that was me ! No I haven't told my doctor about this , I see my doctor once a year for a check up and exam if you know what I mean  So far so good I am not sick of eating it . Have you tryed it are you sick of eating it ? If I get sick of it to bad for me I have to teach myself a lesson .cause once I lose the weight and start my old ways I will remner all the cheese n crackers I had to eat and I will say to myself do you want to go back to eating this again and my answer would be no . So I will be a better eater once I lose the weight . Not because I have to but because I want to .
I'm not going to say stop what your doing then. That's your call, however I think that the good DoctorU2 brought up some valid suggestions, depriving yourself of nutrition could also land you in a hospital. The cost of consulting with your doctor would be negliable compared to the hospital bill you might run up if you have malnutrition and/ or dehydration. Handi snacks aren't something that I stock in my own home, and I know without trying that I couldn't follow it. Especially when there are better thing to eat for 600 calories. Salads are a healthier alternative. Do what thou wilt.. :D :D :D :D :D :D
I fully agree with Symbiosis, BIBLE. I also can't tell you what to do, but I do encourage you to look at alternatives. You seem to treat dieting as a form of "punishment" and I just don't think that's healthy. What many of us are stressing on this forum is diet as a way of life. That is, by eating poorly (over-eating and/or eating too many unhealthy foods) and by not doing enough exercise, we all gained weight. Our goals now are to change ourselves by incorporating exercise into our lives and by eating differently (and hopefully better). We don't want to "punish" ourselves for gaining weight - rather, we want to correct our way of living. By doing so, we will not only lose the weight, but remain healthy and slim for the rest of our lives. Everyone is different. Some will have great success with the Atkins high-fat/high-protein diet, others on Weight Watchers and others on diets that are high-carb/low-fat. What's important is that all of these diets stress proper nutrition over time. I do not see this with your diet. Furthermore, all of these diets are things that can be followed for life. Again, I do not see this with your diet. Now, some of these diets may or may not work for you. I did not do well on Atkins, but am succeeding with a high-carb/low-fat diet. The goal is for you to find a HEALTHY diet that you can stick to, works well for you, and is nutritional. Eating cheese and crackers with diet colas gives you virtually none of the nutrients you need. I fear that while you may lose weight, your body might start suffering - including doing serious damage to your immune system. Therefore, please try to drink LOTS of cold water and substitute your cheese/crackers for one meal every day with something like salad. Also, try to do some form of exercise at least 3x a week, if not more. Keep in mind that it will be nearly impossible for you to drop 60 pounds in 2 months. That's a LOT of weight to lose. Even on very low-cal diets, with lots of exercise, women only tend to lose about 15-20 pounds of fat (while gaining about 3 pounds of muscle) after 6 weeks. So please don't push yourself. Starvation diets, or unhealthy ones, never work. Lastly, going back to my point above, don't view this as "torture" or "punishment". So you got oveweight. If statistics are to be believed, 61% of Americans are overweight. Don't punish yourself for being like the vast majority of people. Rather, promise yourself that now is the time to start eating better - and HEALTHIER. You didn't gain all of this weight in 2 months, so don't push yourself so hard to lose it in that time. Instead, design a nice, healthy, low-cal diet plan, which includes some exercise and lots of water (drop the caffienated diet sodas). By Thanksgiving, you may not have dropped 60 pounds, but you may have lost 20 and you'll be feeling great. By March, if you follow this plan, you may have reached your 60 pound weight loss goal - just in time for the spring/summer seasons! Good luck!
[quote:11834134b6]So I need to suffer a little to teach me to never go back to this weight [/quote:11834134b6] I'm afraid I don't understand the *meaning* of this comment? The focus should be to be healthier, more active.. that kinda stuff, not punishing yourself for gaining weight. If you have 3 kids, you have responsibilities to them, don't forget that. Making yourself sick in the hopes of losing weight isn't worth it. I'm sure anyone who has or had an eating disorder will tell you this.
The only problem that I see with this diet is that Handy Snacks suck! I say eat a regular breakfast. Have an apple for lunch. And for dinner get a nice Wendy's salad. That will keep you around 1000 calories.
we haven't heard a progress report in a while. bible, how is it going?
Maybe some of us chased her away because we wanted her to reconsider her diet. :? I hope not - she's on a tough diet and can use support. Even if we don't agree with her methods, we will support her. :)
Not good at all ... I will need to figer what to do cause i was loseing a pound a day and i wanted to lose 2 day . I will let you know what I decide to do.
Bible: You don't think losing a pound a day is good? That's 7 pounds a week! 30 pounds a month! If you kept up at this rate, you will lose 60 pounds by Thanksgiving - which is your goal! So I don't see how a pound a day is bad... :? Since you are already down to a mere 600 calories a day, the only thing I can think of to help you lose weight faster is exercise - both aerobic and strength training.
Yes but exersise makes me want to eat . I am going to have cheese n crackers for breakfes and for lunch and dinner I will be having 2 cups of soup and for snack I will have cheese n crackers . my total will be 662 calories I had pizza yesterday and gained 2 pounds . I need to get back on track before thanksgiving . yes if i lose a pound a day from now on I will be at my goal weight on thanksgiving but I am very week when it comes to weekend i end up eating out and then I fail . I have to keep my eye on the prize at the end . Anyone ever trayed a cabbage diet ? If so do you lose like 10 pounds in a week ? Also dose it teast good ? what dose it teast like?
I can help you here... ;) I did the cabbage diet back in 1995. The recipe actually makes TONS and TONS of soup - so much soup that I didn't have enough containers for all of it! 8O So you might want to scale back on the recipe. At first, the soup was delicious! I wound up eating several bowls right away. I loved it. However, by about the fourth day, the soup almost made me want to vomit. The thought of eating that soup AGAIN was just gross. I couldn't do it. Did I lose weight? Yes.... I did not do the soup diet for the whole week, but I did drop weight (I want to say 3-5 pounds). The diet is a healthier than your current diet, as you get tons of vegetables. But just be prepared to eat LOTS of this soup - and drink LOTS of water. Going back to your diet, do NOT let day to day weighings fool you. I weighed myself on Monday morning - all was good. But come Tuesday morning, I weighed more! Could it be the little extra food I ate on Monday? Maybe, but come Wednesday (today), I'm back down - in fact, lower than I was on Monday! So don't judge your diet by one day's reading. Also, if your diet is good, the fact that you ate pizza one day shouldn't throw you off (unless you truly gorged and ate an entire double cheese pizza yourself! ). I still recommend exercise. To counter the hunger pains, be sure to drink a LOT of cold water all day long - including DURING the exercise. If you walk, grab a bottle of cold water with you. If you use weights, have cold water by your side. It's cheap and will fill you. But if you want a change from the cheese and crackers diet, I guess the cabbage soup diet will work - if you can actually last on it for a week. That's why I'm not dieting that way again this time. Maybe my weight loss will be a bit slower, but I know it'll be a LOT healthier this time - and I hope to keep the weight off forever!
there are soooooo many diets out there! the basis aof any "diet" should be to restore your health. for forever. congrats to you [b:7cdd3ef818]doc [/b:7cdd3ef818]on such wonderful progress. getting to your goal weight might even be here before you know it! setting a realistic goal is very important, and reaching it has to feel great .. booking that cruise knowing you can take off your shirt without feeling "fat" is even better!!! KUTGW! (Keep up the good work) [b:7cdd3ef818]bible[/b:7cdd3ef818] good luck to you on however you decide to address your weight. i can't tell you its right or wrong, only you know whether it is or not. just please be careful and make sure that you don't make yourself sick.
PixieChic Thank you ! :D
doctoru2 Well right now i just buy the soup chicken noodle and vegable soup but its not filling me I get hurngry 2 hours later .
Have you ever considered eating salads? I ask because they are good for you, they fill you up and they are healthy. If you are hungry every 2 hours, it would seem to me that what you are currently doing isn't as effective as you are thinking. Especially if this leads you to eat pizza, and then gain the weight right back.
i concur with the salad recommendation. salads are the perfect diet meal. wendy's salads are 3.99 and are under 400 calories for the most part. that makes an excellent lunch or dinner.
[quote:1f1b63e43c="BIBLE"]doctoru2 Well right now i just buy the soup chicken noodle and vegable soup but its not filling me I get hurngry 2 hours later .[/quote:1f1b63e43c] The cabbage soup, from the cabbage soup diet, is indeed very good. You are allowed to add in tomatoes (stewed), carrots, celery, etc. As you salt to taste, you are also probably getting a LOT less sodium that canned or instant chicken noodle and vegetable soups (those are good, but VERY high in sodium). In other words, the cabbage soup itself can be a tasty treat and is very healthy. The problem I had with this diet is that you have to eat a LOT of cabbage soup in a short time - and I got sick of it, to the point where I couldn't even think about eating more soup. The thought of it truly made me ill. Therefore, perhaps you can follow your own version of the diet. Make the cabbage soup, but continue on other things, like salads or even your cheese and crackers. The soup will fill you up! ;)
doctoru2 What dose it teast like ? Is it green color or red ? Do you chop up the cabbage I heard you have to go to the bathroom alot and it gives you gas it that true did you have to go to the bathroom alot and id it give you gas?
your welcome bible. good luck to you.
I currently have SO much fiber in my system and I drink SO much water, that I go to the bathroom a lot right now anyway. ;) As for gas... I think that depends on your system. Cabbage is fine for me, so no problems. But if you have found that you generate more gas when you've had cabbage in the past, then be prepared to have similar results this time. Regardless, you will urinate a LOT. If you like cabbage at all, this soup is good. I added tomatoes and carrots, etc. to it so that it had a nice good stock, vegetable taste. However, if you only like beef/chicken based soups, this might not be for you. After I added the stewed tomatoes, celery, carrots and cabage, the soup had a more tomato broth type taste to it. Not weak, but not like tomato soup either. I [b:a79eff8de0]highly[/b:a79eff8de0] recommend cutting back on the recipe. That recipe makes gallons of soup! Make about 1/2 to 1/4 of it. Keep in mind that the cabbage soup diet will call for LOTS of water (which all other diets do anyway). Good luck!
doctoru2 cool thank you !
