Thanks for posting Weight Watchers under Diets! I am glad to see it here! I started the plan on 8/18/03 at 205 pounds. I am now down to 196. :o My first goal is to be down to 175 by the end of the year. My long term goal is to get down to a normalish weight (130-140 lbs) by my birthday in July. In addition to staying within my points range, I try to walk at least 30 minutes per day. Who else??? - Joan
Hi ya Joan, Looks like it's just you and me for the moment :) How was your day? Another goodie for me I'm pleased to say. Not going to weigh myself until next Tues/Wed...can hardly wait  Trying to do some exercise but it's still been pretty rainy so have only be doing toning exercises indoors. Catch you later.
Hiya Goosey, Well, you and me is better than just me! :) I'm glad you're here (even though you are quite far away. The internet is a great thing. I'm also glad that you're doing it on your own, like me. I am on some other weight watcher boards and I'm not sure they'd be so welcoming if I identified myself as a do-it-yourselfer. I am having a good week. I can't believe it's Thursday already. Before I know it, it will be time for a Monday weigh-in again. I think I'm on track. Last night was a little harder because we went to a friends for dinner. I haven't gotten good enough at calculating the points yet to be able to do it semi-automatically. So I just made sure to save lots of points for the evenings and to not overdo it on anything. Luckily there were lots of great vegi's and fruits to balance out the sour cream and cheese (just little bits) that I put on my wrap. Ok, goosey ... you keep on keeping on!!! - Joan
hi im on the adkins diet now but id like to know more about ww could yall tell me more can you eat fruits and veg and tell me is there a book i can get for this if not would somebody be willing to help me day by day cause i dont have the money to join
Hi Great stuff Joan :) It's a good feeling to get thru a dinner out without blowing it eh? Hi lindyk We're doing WW points...every food has a number of points per serve and you are allowed to have a certain number of points per day. THis allows freedom to have any food you'd like, but bear in mind the higher the fat/sugar the more points and then the less food you can eat. So choosing wisely is the key and you are able to eat well :) I'm having 22 points per day. Vegies are points free and you can have as many as you like (with exception of the startchy vegies like potatoes/peas). Why don't you visit the WW website (just type it in your search box) and check it out further. I brought my book off the net and am doing it at home myself as I cannot afford the weekly meeting cost...if I could I would love to go as they are really supportive. Any more Q's feel free to ask... Cheers
I'm not doing Weight Watchers, but my friend did and I thought I'd share his story to inspire you. My friend started at 210 pounds. I believe his wife joined too, but he didn't disclose her weight. He started Weight Watchers in July of 2001. In March of 2002, he said he dropped to slightly under 160 pounds! He dropped over 50 pounds in 8 months! His goal weight was 165 and he zipped right by it. I just spoke to him today (Sep. 11, 2003). It is now over a year and 5 months since he dropped those 50 pounds. I asked how he's doing maintaining that weight. He paused for a moment, causing me to suspect the worst. But he stated that he was now at.... 166 pounds! That's right, his goal weight was 165 and in the year and a half since he reached it, he's pretty much maintained it perfectly. As Weight Watchers is strict (they only give a +2 pound leadway), he says he wants to knock off a few pounds again to get back to his goal weight. But I was just thrilled that he's maintained that weight loss for so long. I told him he could be on the Weight Watchers web site as one of their big success stories! Therefore, if you have a lot to lose, stick with it. Weight Watchers can work! Good luck!
congrats lezdrum! that is soooo very exciting! have you lost any inches?
Hi Joan How you doing? I've changed my weigh in to Saturdays...finding it hard to get on the computer in the week lately. Well I've lost a 1kg (sorry don't deal in pounds...it's kgs and grams here, hehe)...YAHOO I'm on my way again so I'm now 84kgs. Cheers Goosey
Week 5 WI shows no loss, no gain. I don't think the flex points program is working as well for me as the Winning Points range did, so I'm going back to that. How's everyone else doing? - Joan
Goosey! I almost forgot ... congrats on your loss!! You go girl! - Joan
:P Hi Everyone, I am new this week to weight watchers and I have come from LC so it is sooooo easy after the restrictions of that. I started at 175 pounds on Monday and I am finding the diet easy to follow as no foods are banned as long as you stay within the points. My trouble is I have a lot of health problems and I take a lot of drugs including regular steroids. The only trouble that has re-started is the IBS......it is chronic pain and bloating again which I didn't get eating low carb. Any help gratefully received. Take care,
Good one Joan...it's just as good as a loss to stay the same :) Well done. Welcome louloo...glad you can join us :) Sorry to hear you are having trouble :( Did you talk to your Doctor before starting WW? If you had no pain when on LC maybe a slower introduction to carbs is needed? After being on the LC diet...your system might be in shock, hehe. You could addapt WW and lower your carb points and up the other food groups until you feel better and can have more carbs? Although you can eat anything on WW as long as you count the points a balanced diet is what I try and aim for :) I find too that if I don't drink enough water I retain fluid and feel yucky...(have you read the posts on the benefits of water they are interesting reading.) Joan...do you have any ideas? Look forward to hearing from you again and how you're getting on. Cheers Goosey
hello everyone hope everyone is well ive been on weight watchers for 2 weeks now and i love it lez im like you my scales are not going anywere but my pants tell a diffrent story ive went 1 pants size when i first put those pants on i was so happy so some times its inches not weight but its alway alot happyer to see the scales move im on the flex program but i try not to use them i was on adkins im alot happyer here well everyone hope to here from you yall should try weightwatchers.com it tells you alot about ww thanks for reading lindy
Hi Goosey, :P (love that name) You talk a lot of sense and I should have gone back to the doc before changing my eating plan. My cholesterol was high with this last set of blood tests which is what made me move from LC to WW. I am waiting for the results of tests because I have COPD and then I will have to see the doc and I will ask the questions on IBS and LC then. I am hungry all the time on this WW and I didn't even think about food on LC, but I am going to carry on for a while and see how it goes. Thanks for replying to my post, I am not giving up it is just taking a while to get used to counting calories, or rather, points. LOL Take care,
[b:f9c8afbc20]WOW!![/b:f9c8afbc20] I have never been in this forum (until today) I would like to say congrats to everyone here, it sounds as if you are seeing some mighty nice results! Goosey, Lezdrum hats off to both of you! :D :D Looloo.. keep your chin up and see what your doctor has to say. Eat as healthy as you can.. be sure to keep us posted..
Morning all (well it is here in NZ anyway, lol) Lindyk...well done, there's nothing wrong with staying the same and you're right on with the inch loss...keep up your great positive attitude and you'll make it that's for sure :) (Thanks for the WW.com) Louloo...Goosey is a nick name I got from my hubby when we 1st met and I haven't been able to get rid of it since, hehe. Glad to hear you are going to hang in with us :) I simpathize with your condition, my stepdad has a similar problem and he cannot exercise like he used to. Regarding your feeling hungry all the time...you can fill up on points free foods, though I know sometimes they aren't that satisfying are they, lol. Look forward to hearing how you do for the week :) Cheers Goosey
Hi Everyone, Thanks for the support, I will be sticking to WW, it is much more healthy than LC. As for the hunger pangs, it wasn't sooo bad last night so perhaps my body is getting used to the lower fat again. In about three weeks time I am going to join the class with my daughter, I feel I need the support of a group and because I have to be weighed every week, I think perhaps it will give me the incentive to do WW properly. I can't excercise or even walk properly at the moment. I have lung disease which makes me breathless, Osteoarthritis in my spine and neck so I am nearly always in pain on exertion, a very underactive thyroid which everyone knows slows up weight loss and last but not least IBS which is the worse of the lot. I am trying to do a few stretches in the morning and at night to loosen up my poor old bones. I used to do Yoga and Pilates and I am going to try to gradually increase the stretches. I cannot do aerobic exercise though so I don't suppose the other will do a lot for weight loss, but at least I am moving, thats' the main thing, LOL. Anyway, take care, I will report in again and I love reading how you are all getting on. Take care everyone,
Well it's my weigh in again already, hehe, and I'm soo pleased....another kg gone...I'm now 83kgs. YAHOOO! I have managed to do extra exercise this week...went out power walking 2 nights this week and did some skipping. Everything jiggles when you skip so I couldn't do it for long but hey gotta start somewhere eh? hehe. How did you do Joan? or I should say how are you going, your weigh in is on Tues/Weds? Louloo...you certainly have alot to deal with. Great to hear you have support at home too :) I loved going to the WW meetings but unfortunatley with 2 kiddies to feed/clothe etc it is abit expensive...that's why I am soo glad to have found this board...together we can give support :o) Thanks Kristin...I've been reading your posts...well done to you too :) Lindyk...How are you doing? Well gotta go and round up my boys...it's still pretty early here Sat morn so if I get a wriggle on I can get my chores done and we can go out. Looking forward to hearing from you all :) Cheers Goosey
:D Hi Goosey, Congratulations on your continued weight loss, well done. I haven't put any weight on but I haven't lost any either. I think this week has been hard changing over from high fat to low fat, so I should find everything easier next week. My official day for weighing in will be on Monday, so whatever the scales say I promise to post my weight. LOL I haven't a clue how to work out KG's , I prefer to use pounds and stones but most people use Pounds so that is what I will do........sorry Goosey, we are always behind everyone else her in the UK, LOL This is a very supportive board, so thanks everyone for that and I think that I too will be able to keep on track here. Take care everyone, have a nice weekend.
I am new to this site and hoping to get some inspiration to succeed with my many attempts with WW. Its a great program if you stick with it..thats my problem. I am planning on starting Wednesday as i need a couple of days to plan for this. Reading your posting you are all doing really well. Congratulations. Will be in touch soon.....Saph
i am not sure how i am going to lose weight.i am not on WW or that other diet.unless it is free....i cant do them
[quote:2080b0c06d="Carmen"]i am not sure how i am going to lose weight.i am not on WW or that other diet.unless it is free....i cant do them[/quote:2080b0c06d] There are a lot of free diets or VERY cheap diets out there. WW encourages people to attend sessions as they feel people will be most successful that way. However, there are a lot of people who do the program on their own, and use on-line websites for support. So do a web search for WW forums and I'm sure you'll find info. This program is either free or very inexpensive. Atkins is relatively "free" too. Maybe you could buy a paperback book to read the general theory and recipes. That should cost you only $5. Also, the diet I'm following is free: just low cal and low fat. I do exercise on purchased equipment, but you can substitute that by walking or following a work-out video (that you can probably rent from your local public library for free) with some heavy cans of food. In other words, don't let $$ hold you back. You spend money on food right? Well, skip that McDonalds for a few weeks. Bypass that extra pint or two of ice cream. Forget the sodas from the vending machine. All of those things add up. If you skip them for 2 weeks, not only will you already be on your way to losing weight, but you might save up some $$ to buy that Atkins book or join the on-line WW forum or even buy a work-out video. As tight as finances may be for you, you can't let money or time or anything else be an excuse if you truly want to commit to losing weight. Scrape together the necessary time and money that you can and you'll be on your way to success! Good luck!
very true. if you calculate the amount of money that you spend eating out, entertaining yourself, etc. you may find that you have more money than you originally thought. :) libraries offer books ond videos that you can check out for free.( be sure to return them on time so you don't get any late fees. ) information is always available to any of us, should we want it!!
Hiya all So how is everyone doing? I'm here again on Saturday for my weigh in and I lost 200gms...hardly much but it's still a loss! I haven't done the exercise this week as it's been raining so much :( We have daylight savings starting tonight...we put the clocks forward an hour so that means longer daylight in the evenings so I can get out for my walks after the boys are in bed...yay! Just need to get rid of the rain, lol. Love to hear how you guys are doing :o) Catch you again... Cheers Goosey
Hi everyone.. I am brand new to the ww system. My first meeting doesn't start till tuesday. Up to about 1/2 a year ago I have had horrible stomach problems (feel for you lou loo). This, while painful and horrendous to deal with, has always kept me lean and trim, but unhappy. Now after two surgeries.. over 6 months of inactivity from the surgeries, I have a very happy stomach again. :) and no more restriction based on pain. Sadly this good news has well.. meant the scale is no longer my friend. So without the evil pain to curb my apetite.. its time to get help with my will power and self control. Glad to read all the great results on here.. and I'll keep you informed on how well I do :)

Way to go Sandy! Keep up the excellent work!
 [color=red:12b696f6fc][/color:12b696f6fc] I have been on WW for almost 3 years now. It works well. Email me and I will tell you my story. Keep up the great work.
Hi, I started back on WW last wednesday... the flex point plan is very different but it seems to be working for me. Back in the days when WW had the fat and fiber plan is when i lost the most weight with them... but I am going to give this new plan my total effort. I do the online WW, and my weigh ins are on mondays at home. Halley
i tried to do the flex points with ww but my body didnt like it so i had to go back to the old fashion way so if you find that the flex points dont work for you try the other way
