pack a lunchbox full of veggies. Carrots, peppers, cucumbers, celery.. pretzel sticks are not a bad snack either.. I would also suggest you give yourself a minute to adjust to all the things going on in your life right now. You'll be able to get all of it done. Once you settle in a bit, a 20 minute walk won't be as hard as you think!!
Sharon has a point about giving yourself a minute to settle in. If you are having a hard time getting organized, maybe buy a "[b:a564aa1224]Day Planner Calander[/b:a564aa1224]" These normally have days broken down into hours. If you know that you are in class from 10-4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, jot that in. Same goes for all of the other stuff you have to do like work, homework.. this may help you figure out when you have "free time" to accomplish your work-outs. I would even try this: Jot a workout down in your day planner! If you have an appointment to workout, how can you break it?? Hope this helps!!
start writing things down and making lists. the first step to organizing is cataloging your time. then make a schedule.
The organizer suggestions are great. I'd also recommend renewing your commitment to exercise. For example, even as busy are you are, there are probably times you are watching TV or reading a magazine. There may even be times you go to bed an hour early because you are tired. Instead of that TV or magazine or even sleep, commit that time to working out. Sure, that extra hour of sleep sounds great at 6 a.m., but if you can get up then and go for a nice brisk 30 minute walk, or run or a work-out, think how much better you'll feel. I notice that when I work-out in the morning, as scheduled, I feel better the whole day. Plus, I did my work-out when I said I was going to! That just motivates me more - it shows that I did it once and can do it again! Also, you might need to figure out what motivates you. Why do you want to lose weight? Look at what reasons exist for you to be slim - then schedule time to work-out. Don't view working-out as yet another chore in your list. That might be negative and discourage you. Rather, view it as something fun - something you are doing for yourself. For example, one way of motivating you is that you want to look f***ing great in your wedding photos! LOL! I have two goals. One is to go home this Christmas and show family members my new slimmer self. The second is that I'm hoping for a nice dream vacation cruise to the Caribbean. That second dream is just that for now (as $$ is an issue), but I'm planning for it nonetheless. I want to be able to walk around in shorts with an open shirt (or even no shirt) without scaring people. But those two reasons keep me going - they motivate me. So if you look at working-out as a way to look great for your wedding, that might motivate you. Once that motivation is in place, I bet you will find some time in your busy schedule to work out. But if you don't have the right motivation, all the time in the world won't inspire you to exercise. Good luck!
That is an inspiring post, doc! You make a lot of good points! Sometimes it seems easy to only see exercise as a means to an end. That's why I almost hate the word "diet", it is viewed as being something that you do to lose weight. Here is the meaning as provided bt M-W. Main Entry: 1di·et Pronunciation: 'dI-&t Function: noun Etymology: Middle English diete, from Old French, from Latin diaeta, from Greek diaita, literally, manner of living, from diaitasthai to lead one's life Date: 13th century Diet is something you should do every day to be healthy!!
Something that has really worked for me because I love to graze too, is dried fruit like dried cherries, cranberries, bananas, mangoes, pluots, apples, pineapple, and all sorts of stuff!! (Dried fruit has come a long way since I was a kid!! No more dried rasins for me! Although they are pretty good!) I also pack trail mix, or mixed nuts. Lots of fiber, and very tasty too!
