Hey! I am glad I found this site, Im hoping it'll helps me lose the weight I packed on in pregnancy. I gained over 60 pounds. And breast feeding hasnt performed the magic most people said it would. 3 months after delivery, I doubt I've lost more than 5 pounds. Im seeking some advice. Im a single mom with little chance to have someone watch my "hold me all day" baby so I can excersize. I tried Power 90 tapes, but after a week or so could barely make it through half of the video without wanting to collapse. I want to start walking with baby, but until this week its been too hot. Any ideas of what I can do? And any other breastfeeders, or former breast feeders on here? How many calories do I need to try for? I want to keep my milk supply up. Thanks!!

The walk is probably the easiest and cheapest thing to start off on. The weather in Ohio will be cool soon and you can get some good exercise in that way. Maybe only do half the tapes if they are too hard. Good luck

maybe you could walk the baby in a mall nearby. i've noticed lots of people getting their exercise there. good luck, joan

Mall walking is always an option. Some malls even have walking clubs that you can join. This takes the whole weather factor out of it!!

Also, don't be discouraged if you can't get through the whole videotape. If you can only do 1/3 of it, then do 1/3 of it for a while. Eventually, you'll get to 1/2 of the tape before you "poop out". ;) Then you'll build on that, and before you know it, you'll be doing the whole tape and shopping for a second one! If you put on 60 pounds during your pregnancy alone (and I'm surprised your doctor didn't say anything about that...), remember, it took you 10 months to do that, so you can't expect to lose it in a short time. Breast-feeding after a YEAR may take off weight, so keep going there and as the baby grows, he/she will consume more, thus helping you lose more. Also, set little goals. For example, by the end of Sept., work towards losing 2-5 pounds. Then, by the end of October, work towards losing 10-15 pounds total, etc. By Christmas, you may find that you've lost 25-35 pounds total! Little goals are what keep us motivated, because if you look at losing 60 pounds all at once, it is too much. Good luck!
