[b:8b7d5e236b][color=green:8b7d5e236b][/color:8b7d5e236b] I am about to start a low carb diet. Ive been doing research on the south beach diet. Is there any diet where you can include a moderation of some pasta or breads in your diet??????? :D [/b:8b7d5e236b]

they all include moderate amounts of carbs, done mostly in a counting fashion. like on atkins you can have 20 grams of carbs during the induction phase and then it moves up from there.

according to the book, south beach diet, you are to cut certain carbs, not all. white flour and white sugar are both prohibited, but the diet allows you to have whole grain breads and cereals, also whole wheat pasta. fruits and vegetables are allowed. the atkins diet is a lot stricter on carb consumption. hth pixie~ :D

The other low-carb diet is [u:164f8a9f40]The Carbohydrate Addicts[/u:164f8a9f40] which allows you to have one "reward meal" per day which allows more carbs. I haven't tried the diet yet, but I just bought the book. It looks like it's a lot less strict than Atkins, and is written by a husband & wife team of doctors. Worth a look, at least-- and perhaps easier to stick with (that's my trouble).

You make a good point Hebb. The reward meal gives more leigh way than most of the other low carb diets. Might be easier for most folks to stick with :)

ok i just started a low carb diet and i have read anything just going by what im told what are somethings i can drink besides water and diet drinks and which diet is best south beach or adkins

hello big girl. the atkins and sb diet are similar, but atkins is stricter on carbs. you might want to go to your local library and see if they have these available for checkout. ( or buy a copy of them, if you have the extra $) as the specifics of these diet plans are what make them work. water and unsweetened tea or the basic beverages that are allowed on both of these. hth, pixie~ :D

yuck they are trying to kill us

In response to the original question: you can use a moderate amount of carbs on any of the diets. Usually they are counted out.

Hello Irisheyes! Good to know you! There are a ton of of Low carb diet plans out there to choose from. It seems as if the medical community is divided on this issue. However all of them seem to follow the same basic premise:cut back on your carb intake! I myself never knew that I was consuming as many as I was. I used to love pepsi until I REALLY READ the nutritional label. 1 serving is 8 ounces, so a 20 oz bottle is actually 2 1/2 servings. I did the math and a 20 oz bottle packs an amazing 250 calories, 67.5 g of Carbs, and 67.5 g of sugar. If you are following any low carb diet, a bottle of pop will submarine you!! Alcoholic beverages don't fit well with low carb dieting, either..
