Hi all After discovering and joining this site last week I started to feel low, I was daunted by the amount of weight I have to lose (104lbs) and the thought of dieting usually depresses me I think its the thought of going without and I start to eat more to compensate and then feel worse. This time though I did not pick and have started a healthier eating plan. On Sunday I went out for the day which I really enjoyed, I also gave myself a good talking to if you know what I mean and have set myself small weight loss goals. The first is to lose 20lbs by 6th Oct. I have even started swimming, although once I return to full time study and part time work I will not be able to go as often as I would like. This site has really inspired me, and helped me feel more positive about acheiving my aim. Lou :D

Hey lou! Congratulations... Sounds like you are doing an excellent job. We all need a good talking to once in a while, and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say... HURRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D ~~~~~Geo

welcome to you, loobe! keeping your mind focused on your goals is very important, and making small goals is going to make it easier to achieve them. it's almost like the snowball effect, once you get it rolling it gains speed and momentum. keep up the good work! pixie~ :D

Hello! Pixie has a point there.. setting smaller goals make getting to the greater goal seem easier to achieve. Do it in 10 or 20 pounds increments and it will happen faster than you know!!

Good Job! You are smart to do it in increments. Lose the first 20, then worry about the rest. Slow but sure will definitely win the weight loss race.

hang in there lou! good luck on the weight loss.

Hi Lou, I think that is really smart to set some shorter term goals. I haven't done that yet. I need to lose nearly 70 pounds and that seems like such a long way off. So I'm going to give this some thought and set some short term goals for myself too. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck on your first goal!! - Joan
