I was browsing around the net and found these forums. Would like to tell a success story... I'm gonna go into a little detail on somethings and be brief on others. This is a long post btw :o Lets say around early september or late august I got on the weight scale and the weight came up at 267 pounds... I'm 22 years old. Couldn't believe it, I really didn't think I looked 267, but none the less it was a big number. So after thinking that night some, I decided to do something about it... Next day took a trip to 24 hour fitness and got a membership... The movtivation to 'stick' with this gym was a little different then most people. I would have to say that more than anything the fact that getting a membership took a toll on my checking account gave me the motivation to stay there... If i'm gonna spend all this money, I may as well use it... I'm a college kid, not rich by any means. This membership came with 2 training sessions with a trainer; I highly recommend this. Anyway, I worked out alone for about two weeks before I started my first session with a trainer. When I met with my trainer and got on the scale I had already lost about 10 pounds... Just walked on a treadmill, did a simple weight workout, short ab workout... Another key to this was my diet change; I could classify myself as a typical college kid. I study, party, and do just about the normal things a college kids do... Anyway, fast food and soft drinks were a large part of my old eating habbits... I cut all that out. No fast food, no soft drinks (pretty much drank water), and no fried foods. Anyway, my training sessions started... After my first two were over I bought four more training sessions. I would say after six training sessions, and working out on my own (a span of time that lasted about two months) I got down to the lower 240s. I also began taking multivitamens and fat burning supplements... As a note, the training sessions will be difficult if you have a good trainer... You will get tired, you will feel bad... But a few hours later, your gonna feel 100% better. Probably better than you normally feel on a daily basis. Now i'm at a solid 231 pounds, and am only [b:d754aa5e4d]FOUR[/b:d754aa5e4d] pounds away from reaching my goal of 227 and an overall 40 pound weight loss. Now what I would really like to say is that losing this weight really wasn't difficult at all for me... I am still young and capable of doing this easier than others, but I started something and stuck it into my daily routine... I don't consider my self the most motivated person on this planet, but i've actually done this and I think alot of people can do this too... So that is my story, felt like telling it... I plan to go lower than 227, but for now its just a goal to reach. [i:d754aa5e4d]My keys to losing the weight...[/i:d754aa5e4d] -No fast food. I would say in the past four or five months I had fast food maybe a handfull of times... If you want the harsh reality on fast food goto your local blockbuster or rental store and rent the documentry SUPER-SIZE ME. link; http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040507/REVIEWS/405070305/1023 -Water... I drank it 95% of the time since i've been losing weight... Even when I drink liquor I would drink a vodka/water with a lemon squeeze. Cut out beer, sodas, gatoraid, and most drinks with suger/calories in them. -Diet knowlege. I am actually familiar with most diets that our out there, but truthfully I don't really follow any of them to the letter. I have however the knowlege to know what/when/where to eat from diet knowlege... If I could recommend anything I would say look for a copy of Larry North's Living Lean. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0684837005/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/102-3462413-4648948?v=glance&s=books I don't follow his diet to the letter, or really follow about 50% of it... But there's good info that will give you the knowlege to know how to lose weight [b:d754aa5e4d]PROPERLY[/b:d754aa5e4d]. I didn't count calories or do anything like that, just made homecooked meals that were decent... Learning how to cook is awesome, and women love it. -Working out. There is no way around this in my opinion... I believe that workingout and eating decently go hand in hand to losing weight. I got a trainer, and he was as up front with me as I was up front with him about my sitation. He tought how to work out properly... It doesn't even got to be hard, just slowly increase the difficulty of your workouts every week. Supplements(i'm sure i'm spelling that wrong) and multivitamens increased the speed at which i'm losing weight... If anyone wants to know its Apex Fat Burner... -Motivation. Probably the hardest aspect of losing weight... And like I said earlier, i'm not the most motivated person on this planet. But the weight on the weight scale was a motivation... Wanting to appear attractive to the opposite sex was a motivation. And several other aspects have kept me motivated... Anyway, I know that was a long post to read, but I just felt like writing to some people about it :). Hopefully you guys and girls can read it and get something out of it...

Actually, thank you. I am in your start situation. I am a 21 year old college student with a weight more than I ever imagined I would be. I currently weigh 251 and would really like to at least get down to 160 if not more like 130. I know that is will more than likely take at least a year if not much more, but I really do want to do it. My boyfrend and I both want to loose weight and have had a gym membership now for a while, but never seem to make it there, some thing always seems to come up at the last minute or one of us is just not in the mood to go at the time. However, the other day when I discovered that my weight was as much as it is, it promised myself that I was going to loose weight. Last week I went to the gym four times, but this week I don't seem to have any time at all with all the christmas stuff going on in my life. I am also trying to change the way that I have been eating. Now for breakfast I am having instead of a biscuit, muffin, or anything else with alot of sugar or oil, I am having a pack of instant oatmeal. For lunch Tuna or a bowl of soup. Dinner, there is the problem, I think I am a night eater. We cook healthy, but eat to much and if there is something sweet lying around the house I am most likely at least going to have one. So, I am proud of what I am doing during the day, but what happens at night is another story. I will have a chance to change it in the next few weeks because we are both moving from our parents houses to our own place and we will be stocking the kitchen and then will be more able to control what is there when we want some thing to eat. My plan is instead of that brownie or candy bar, an apple or orange would do the job. So the reason that I reply is to really say thank you, you have inspired me, and know (like I have always known) it will take work but the end result will be more than worth it. Keep me updated on how everything goes for you and if you loose all the weight that you have been wanting to loose. Good Luck!

Congratulations on losing all that weight. Keep it up. Important thing, like you said, is to stay motivated. I'm 22 weeks into a whole new fitness program and i've changed my body considerably. If you have any questions or want to read an article I wrote for a fitness website please feel free to email me at krazybartender@yahoo.com
