I was thinking what I could do to get motivated. This is what I came up with: Book a vacation right now for 6 months into the future. Make it someplace with endless white beaches, clear blue skies, and far far away. Someplace that you'll be in a bathing suit! This should be enough motivation for a girl to get the job done! Anyone else have a great idea to motivate themselves?

Here's my motivation! I never got to wear my wedding dress or have a big ceremony, cuz my hubby was in the army and they wouldn't give him leave to come home to IL for the weekend, so I went to TX and we got married in a court house. Next summer we are renewing our vows and throwing this big bash so everyone can actually come to our wedding and stuff. My wedding dress is a size 20.... up until about this week I couldn't fit into it. My goal is to have to have it altered so much they'll practically have to cut it in half to make it small enough! ~~~~~Geo

That is definitly motivation!! Do you have any pictures from your wedding ceremony? That would be a great "Before" picture to compare to the photos when you renew your vows!! :D Your hubby has to excited, too!

Kristin and Geo: Those are both great motivators! Last January, I went to an outer Exuma Island called Staniel Cay and stayed in one of six little houses right on the ocean. We had use of golf carts to get around the island, and a small boat to visit these other little teeny islands that are all over the place. They would pack lunch for us and we would take off and snorkel and sit on our very own island all day. Amazing. I have the URL and some pics if you are interested. With regard to the wedding dress, that is one great motivation and you seem so committed that I know you will work to see your goal come true. Thanks for the inspiration!!! It makes me remember that I have this beautiful navy suit that I haven't been able to get into in ... humm, a long time. I was going to give it away but now I am thinking ... it looks so good on me ... I'm going to wear it again! Best wishes, nahantress (from Nahant, MA)

Hello nahantress. Don't give a way a beautiful suit! You can get back into it! What is the URL for the place you spoke of? It sounds like a nice little retreat.. :D

To motivate myself I look at bathing suits, smaller jeans, etc in stores and instead of getting discouraged it motivates me to work harder towards more goal, so I can shop for those too! I also go to forums (hint, hint lol) and read and reply to posts. I not only get motivated, but I have great ideas, and help for my weight-loss. I am new to this forum but for the last month and a half I have been at several other forums, Prevention forums, and healthy weight loss forum they are great forums! I particualry love this one those, only been here a day and it works great! Many features and helpful people!! -Veronica

Those are some good thoughts, Veronica! It's important to look at the goals and focus on what you have achieved and not what you haven't. Never focus on the lack of something or you will get discouraged. Just think of how far you have already come! Congrats.

Very true BigAl. Always stay positive, and beware of a negative environment!

Just wondering if anyone here has put any of thier motivational ideas into an actual plan?? Hope to hear from you!!

That sounds like a great idea! I think I will start working more on my quickie webpage for weightloss. I just use geocities so I dont have to deal with html. Look forward to seeing that page soon!

[quote:9c74e5a251="Symbiosis"]Just wondering if anyone here has put any of thier motivational ideas into an actual plan?? Hope to hear from you!![/quote:9c74e5a251] I have several things motivating me... one is to visit family this holiday season and *finally* present a much thinner me. If I am to believe my scale at home (the scale at work is ridiculous - it puts me at almost 30 pounds more than my scale at home - however, that's when I was fully dressed and wearing a lab coat), I have dropped around 25 pounds. Regardless of my actual weight, I have put my motivation into action (or plan). Since Aug. 12th, I have tried to drop my caloric intake as much as possible. My goal is as little as 1300-1500 calories a day, however, I'm sure there are plenty of days I consume more. The difference, though, is that there are almost no truly unhealthy items in my diet. I eat tons more fruit and vegetables, have not been to a fast food place in the past month, have not consumed alcohol or any caffienated beverage, and have dropped my fat intake considerably (~20% or less of my daily calories). Therefore, even if I do over-indulge a bit, it's still with healthy food. I have also bought an expensive BowFlex machine. That has motivated me too as I don't want to spend all that money for an elaborate clothes hanger. I use the machine 3-4x a week, for 45 minute work-outs. So yes, I have put my motivation to "impress family" into an actual plan. :D

Way to go [b:e9d09ec402]DoctorU2[/b:e9d09ec402]. Impressing your family is a good goal. Kristins idea about the vacation to the Bahamas 6 months from now, in the dead of winter sounds like a good one also.. I've never been there but hear that it's beautiful!! Maybe someday.... *sighing* [b:e9d09ec402]Kirlaskia:[/b:e9d09ec402] That is a good plan also. Keep a running journal of your accomplishments!

Thanks Symbiosis! :) I have other goals too - for example, I want to take a cruise to the Caribbean perhaps in late 2004 or early 2005. However, as that trip is a long way off (relatively speaking) and is hindered by $$ (or lack thereof), I am keeping the more immediate upcoming holiday season as my current motivation. After that, then I think the cruise will keep me going for much of 2004. At least that's the plan.

always having something to look forward to is good motivation. never been on a cruise ship myself, i don't know if i would like being on one. where there is a will there is a way. doc. focus on the family thing, that should make everyone proud of you, and the $$ will come together for your other goals! you'll have to let us know when you've got it booked!!

Here is my modivation: Ahem.I am young and weigh too much for my age and I think a good way to get modivated is trying...well not trying but just MAYBE a guy would like me.Yeah it is lame, but nobody has ever liked me and maybe if someone does (which i doubt) i can look better.

There is someone out there for everyone. If your young, you will have plenty of time to find a guy that is "right" for you.. :)

maybe so

"So many boys, so little time" is what you'll be saying Carmen!! 8)
