went on the atkins diet one week ago today. i have lost 12 pounds (300 now down from 312). still have about 80 to go. pretty happy with the results so far! :D


Excellent news, BigBoy.. Are you keeping a "food diary" or a journal of any kind to help keep track of eating patterns or anything? :?:


Hi, no. Im real bad at keeping records and the such. I have been very strict with myself. Normally I have been lax in the past. So far so good.


Journals are a good way to keep yourself in check. Not just with weight loss or diet, but in general. Whenever I have a bad day I journalize my feelings, etc. and it helps cleanse my mood.. so when I get home I don't take it out on my family :oops:


okay i am stalled. I dropped from 312 to 300 right away. Now I have been either 299, 300, lor 300.50 for the last 5 days. this isn't effecting me too bad psychologically but i like to see the results. I have been strict now for 13 days on atkins. its been pretty easy. maybe i will walk today


plateaus are normal. especially true of low carb diets. you get "stuck" sometimes. definitely some exercise might help you through.


good news today when i stepped on the scale: down 2 pounds. thank god. being stuck sucked. i went ahead and walked for about 1 mile last night in the humidity and it seemed to do the trick.


1/2 pound today. Oh the excitement. If i lean one way on the scale i can lose anothe pound!

decent weekend so far! yesterday the weather was overcast and threatening to rain, like it always is where i live. i realized that part of my problem exercizing is because when i go to take walks or do something outdoors the weather is usually bad. so spur of the moment i asked my fiance if she wanted to join a health club. we rolled up to the bally's. they had a deal going on where the second members joins for a buck a month and the first member pays full price. cool! turns out to be cheaper than we thought. we sign up and the take us around the club. its been 12 years or so since i was in a ballys so the place was much newer and nicer than i remember :) we ended up working out our first night. we did the stepping machine, walked a mile around the track and did the weight machines for around 20 minutes. all told we worked out for about 45 minutes. i was dripping sweat. when we got home and hit the air conditioning, i felt so relaxed. it was like an experience i've been missing for too long. i slept great last night! when I woke up this morning to do my obsessive early morning weight check, i discovered i was at 296.50, so i was down a good 1.5 from the day before. so now on day 15, my results are: Started at 312.50. Now am 296.50. So ive lost 16 pounds in 16 days! so far so good. sorry this post was so long but i wanted to share!

okay. now this sucks. for some unknown reason i gained 3 pounds according to this mornings weigh in. what the hell. I ate the exact amount of food as usual.

i think its nuts to weigh myself every day. or maybe i need a new scale. today i'm down 1 pound from yesterday but up 3 pounds from a few days back. driving me crazy.


You should calibrate that scale. Maybe it just fluctuates.


its a digital one so i dont know. maybe the battery is bad :) today i lost like 4 pounds so today i love my scale!

i am indifferent to my scale today. it shows a 1/2 pound loss. seems so insignificant in the grand scheme of things.


Indifference to the scale is a good idea. Scales are not 100 % accurate. If you gained 20 pounds I would be a lot more concerned.

i decided to ignore it. i think the scale is stuck!


My scale is in the trash!!! I stopped weighing myself as of well, yesterday when I decided to diet. Keep up with your diet, awesome!!!!!

last night I trashed the scale! I am sure the thing is not accurate. plus, this dawned on me: I have been letting an inanimate object decide my feelings for me! depending on what I weigh each morining makes me decide whether I'm happy or mad. I tossed it out. almost 24 hours later now and I can tell you: I miss my scale already!


Tossing the scale was a good thing. You cannot let it contol you. Keep it up, you are doing well.....


i hear ya. i am tempted to pick one up. its been driving me crazy. i havent weighed myself in 3 days and now i dont know whats happening.


I think its OK to weigh yourself once in a while but daily will drive you nuts. Try making a graph so you can see to whole picture not just a fraction of a pound at a time.


You are right about that Val. I can gain and lose 10 pounds every day!! 8O


I like the idea of a graph. It will give you a visual idea on how well you're doing. :idea:


disaster! i bought a new scale and I am up 15 pounds! I nearly had a heart attack. either the old scale was broke or I am actually gaining weight by dieting and exercising.


Don't fret BigBoy. I'm sure that if you've added some exercise, it could be muscle. Keep your goals in mind and take one day at a time. :lol:


i am calm again. i bet it is just the muscle. i havent worked out in like 15 years and now started again. my shirt feels looser. my pants feel looser. im gonna go based on how i feel. plus i lost 4 pounds on the new scale too :)


damn thats alot to lose.. i wanna do that!youre doing great! man wow!
