hi everyone, I have been lurking here for a while and find a lot of the posts very helpful- I have been doing the famous "all meat and eggs diet" you know which one, and have made a million new friends on line but haven't been able to lose any weight. I have read Dr. "A's" book three times and have successfully helped several friends lose weight. Even my mom lost 100 lbs doing this! But, it's not for me. I have an 11 week old baby and have not been able to budge the baby fat. I weigh 185 and need to be about 150. I did lose 30 lbs after the baby, but then it just stopped. So I am ready to try something different. I assume I need to keep my calories around 1200-1400 a day to lose safely and track everything I eat in a journal for a while? I exercise about 30 minutes a day at the gym and do strength training at home (moderatly) I drink my 64 oz of water daily, etc. My problem now is that I have to learn an entirely new way of eating  I understand fruit is great on low cal eating, on the other plan it's not allowed!! Can you all tell me some other things that are low cal and easy to make? Cereal, soups, veggies, (pasta and potatoes are high in calories righ?) low cal popcorn, SF sodas on occasion. Any advice you can give me would be so so so helpful! Thanks so much.

Hi there! Nice to *meet* you! Congrats to you on the new baby. That is wonderful :) ..and your mom too! Sounds as if you are ready to make some headway. Not every diet plan works for everyone, as you have learned, but the good thing is you can sort of make your own. I know it is easier when you have a book to tell you everything to do and what to eat, but only you know your body and your tastes. Keep your calories about in the range that you have mentioned and see what happens. If you are breast feeding, for sure check with your doctor to make sure he/ she is OK with it.. I might suggest yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, chicken (not fried!) salads rice or popcorn cakes (there are a bunch of different varieties to choose from) and baby carrots as some snack ideas.. :welcome

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I am actually so disgusted with the LC WOE I could scream!! My mom has been stalled too for about 6 months which is really discouraging after losing so much weight. If this lo cal WOE works for me, I will be bringing her on too! Thanks for the advice, I am going shopping today! Everything is so backwards now, everything low cal is loaded with carbs and everything lo carb is loaded with calories. Sheesh! Anyway, I will be lurking quite a bit and posting from time to time for advice! Thanks again!

Welcome. One of the keys to low cal is serving size. There are actualy a lot of foods that you can eat on a low cal diet if you stick to the serving sizes. I recomend that when you go shopping you read the nutrition labels and fond out how much is a serving and how many cals does it have before buying. Good Luck[/color:1a9ad044f7] [u:1a9ad044f7][b:1a9ad044f7]Kiara[/b:1a9ad044f7][/u:1a9ad044f7][/color:1a9ad044f7]

The best thing is to eat small amounts various times a day. And as Kiara said, don't omit any foods from your diet but eat drastically reduced serving sizes of the really heavy caloric foods. Common sense seems to be the easiest way to follow a low calorie diet. That, and listening to your body.
