weight loss

Hello, I'm 5"3, and range from aboutn 122-126lbs. That is when I begin a diet, it'll go down to 122 because of water loss I'm guessing. I want to lose about 10lbs in total. My first goal is to lose 5lbs (some real weight that is, not just water). However, I don't think I'm losing anything beyond the water. I was wondering how long it will take for someone with my weight to lose 5 lbs, while sticking to a diet a little lower than 1200 calories, and no exercise (I don't really have any plans to begin either)? I'll list what I ate so far today, just as an example: Non-fat yogurt + 1 splenda in the morning ('bout 130 calories) Dannon's smoothie as a brunch (80 calories) Then a sandwich with two brown bread slices (160 calories), fatfree cheese (30 calories), turkey breast (30 calories too I think), teeny weeny bit of non-fat yogurt again, and ketchup. Yep, might not sound too tempting, but surprisingly it tasted alright at the time. :P Anyway, these 10lbs are driving me nuts. It would appreciated if someone can tell me how long it'll be before I lose 5 lbs of real weight, excluding water loss. Thanks!

probably 1-2 weeks, possibly 3 weeks, without any exercise. your best bet would be to include SOME exercise though and maybe up your calories just a bit to 1200 at least, possibly 1500; you would still lose the weight and you would be helping your metabolism in the long run.

First off, stick to EXACTlY 1200 calories! And exercise! I would start out with walking for atleast 15 minutes everyday..more if you would like. Also try to drink like 8 glasses of water a day 8) Good luck
